I recently watched 2 award winning HBO TV series that I enjoyed a lot, mostly centered on women, their roles as wives, mothers and career women, both involving murder and mystery, but it's the emotional/psychological aspects and the wonderful acting that make them special.
Mare of Easttown stars Kate Winslet as a detective in a small Pennsylvania town investigating a local murder while trying to keep her life from falling apart.
    See the synopsis here: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10155688/

Big Little Lies is about the apparently perfect lives of upper-class mothers at a prestigious elementary school, which unravel to the point of murder when a single-mother moves to their quaint Californian beach town.
The all-star cast includes Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Meryl Streep.

Soylent Green...I watched it in 1973. And I remember feeling "strange".
Somehow I felt that there was "something to it", to the theme of this movie.

2022 is next year. Maybe the world then won't look like the one in the movie (not yet anyway),
but the dystopian world situation we are living in today, brings back memories.

I can imagine only how it was back in 73, I was not even born yet haha

I watched Oblivion right after Soylent Green, which gave a good balance after all

I felt strange too specially toward the end because I didn't have any clue what Soylent Green was made from (I imagined bugs), but when the officer went rogue and found out it was made from human flesh.. damn it!!!

    Good movie

I'll be seeing this at my local arts theatre tonight - The Velvet Queen

Thought I'd share the trailer somewhere on Avalon - this looks like the appropriate thread to post it! Its about a French photographer, Vincent Munier, who travels the Tibetan Plateau in search of the beautiful snow leopard and other mysterious animals of Tibet.
Just my cup of tea, any way. Even though everything can be seen online these days, its still fun to go to the movies every now and then. It can probably be found at your local arts theatre tonight! Cheers

    The Green Knight

Based on a 14th century poem, A King Arthur era story with a magnificent twist. Beautiful, poetic, dark and ultimately the story of what we are doing here. I very highly recommend it. In fact, I would say there are moments in this film that are breath taking.

I am chuffed about finding this film online.

Quote The story of G. I. Gurdjieff and his travels to achieve enlightenment and inner growth, based on his book by the same name. Beginning with his childhood, the movie follows his journeys through Central Asia as he discovers new levels of spirituality through music, dance and near-encounters with death. As a young man exploring ancient ruins, Gurdjieff discovers scrolls confirming the existence of a hidden brotherhood long thought to be extinct. He begins a search that leads through unforeseeable hazards and finally to a school where he learns to bring together all the principles of an esoteric teaching. The film, by renowned director Peter Brook, was made on location in the forbidding, rarely photographed mountains and deserts of Afghanistan, and has been widely acclaimed for its unique visual beauty.

I've been watching an Australian TV series (2014-2017) called "Janet King" about a female Prosecutor who comes up against a pedophile ring consisting of Police, Judges, Executives and other elites. See: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2645122/
(It's a continuation of another award winning series called "Crownies" . )
It's captured my interest because we hear so much frustrating, depressing news about elite pedophiles getting away with heinous crimes, which very little is being done about.
But this series demonstrates what it might actually be like to be in a position of responsibility, in which your duty is to go up against such individuals, and what kind of risks could be involved in doing that.
In a weird sort of way, it's good to get another perspective.
And it brings home to me even more what I think good people are really up against, which is not just crime, it's demonic beings.
It's a spiritual war we are in, and as much as humanity may hunger for justice, there is something much greater which is also being called for.

Thank you Eva, for the beauty of this vid. The YouTube commenters are loving it too.

I am concerned though, whether it is true or propaganda. Winston and Matt (The China Show, changed from ADV Podcasts) say that Youtube is verboten in China for regular folk. The Great Firewall. In some places using a VPN is treated as terrorism.

I have read of gov repression in Tibet, and this vid is too good to be true. Wish it wasn’t so.
