I haven't watched this one yet - it sounds interesting:

'The Snake Hug - Ciro War (2015)
Karamakate was in his day a powerful shaman of the Amazon; he is the last survivor of his people and lives deep in the jungle. He's been in total solitude for years, which have turned him into "chullachaqui", an empty shell of man, deprived of emotions and memories. But his lonely life turns upside down the day when Evan arrives, to his remote lair Evan, a North American ethnobotanic in search of the yakruna, a powerful hidden plant, capable of teaching to dream. Karamakate agrees to join Evan on his quest and together they embark on a journey to the heart of the jungle where the past, present and future are confused, and in which the shaman will reclaim his lost memories.'

Dersu Uzala 1975 by Akira Kurosawa
Based on the work of the scientist and writer, famous traveler and explorer of the far east Vladimir Arseniev. The story of his friendship with the guide Dersu Uzala with extraordinary personal qualities. Their journey through the taiga-forest, full of dangerous adventures, is the plot of the film, but the meaning of the story goes far beyond the plot: it's a story about the brotherhood of people, that we are all children of the same land

One of those movies that grows on you, makes you laugh and cry, and leaves you wanting more...

"The Way" is a powerful and inspirational story about family, friends and the challenges we face while navigating this ever-changing and complicated world. Martin Sheen plays Tom, an American doctor who comes to St. Jean Pied de Port, France to collect the remains of his adult son (played by Emilio Estevez), killed in the Pyrenees in a storm while walking the Camino de Santiago, also known as The Way of Saint James. Rather than return home, Tom decides to embark on the historical pilgrimage to honor his son's desire to finish the journey. What Tom doesn't plan on is the profound impact the journey will have on him and his "California Bubble Life". Inexperienced as a trekker, Tom soon discovers that he will not be alone on this journey. On his journey, Tom meets other pilgrims from around the world, each with their own issues and looking for greater meaning in their lives: a Dutchman (Yorick van Wageningen), a Canadian (Deborah Kara Unger) and an Irish writer (James Nesbitt), who is suffering from a bout of writer's block. From the unexpected and, often times, amusing experiences along the way, this unlikely quartet of misfits creates an everlasting bond and Tom begins to learn what it means to be a citizen of the world again. Through Tom's unresolved relationship with his son, he discovers the difference between "the life we live and the life we choose".—The Way

    Upcoming films in 2023
Not on topic perhaps unless you consider laughter and occasional escapism to be uplifting ( I do! ) , but this upcoming pic with Nick Cage as Dracula and Nicholas Hoult as Renfield looks hilarious

And Harrison Ford is back as Indiana Jones
INDIANA JONES 5 and the Dial of Destiny

And Chris Evans and Ana de Armas in Ghosted

I watched this one years ago, the original title "El abrazo de la serpiente". You won't be disappointed.

It is interesting how the guy labeled as "white spirit" try to corrupt the indigenous with money but he can't because they don't see any value on money. The "white spirit" was completely possessed by the idea of finding such a flower at any cost... the end is amazing you have to watch.

The trade was a dream not money.

    [update]

The movie can be downloaded here:

For anyone who like Amazonian movies and history of the place, here is a good one from 1922 "No Rastro do Eldorado"

Nice someone posted it on Youtube, here is the link
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9N54ktqGoLE

In the comments they say there is a book which has much more details, name in Portuguese is "Exploração na Guiana Brasileira"

Yeah it seems to be blocked in Europe (or at least UK). Easily bypassed by setting your VPN to the U.S. Works fine.

    Lost in Translation

First time I saw this movie with a friend in the "theaters" was an unexpected catharsis...I couldn't put my finger on...
When finish was an incredible silence...something touch everybody, for my friend it was a wasted time...

Next day I went alone to see the movie again.
Its begin with what you think you know already (mature guy meat hottie...) but in reality are 2 lost souls in translation
in the Matrix...each one got the material riches and are just lost in a "reality" plastic construct where both are just
trying to find some sense ...is not coincidence she is married to a "celebrities" photograph and he is an "actor".

The humor feels like penetrable acid because is so normally human reaction
to ridiculous "fake reality" and we all know that deep inside, that's why people
are affected to confront in the mirror, why suddenly everybody sunk in silence...

Both are longing for something else, connection? that's why touch everybody, because checking your life you notice a void...
Pay attention to the songs text when he sing...

We are on the same page lately brother. F'ing loved this movie from day one. What's funny is I almost posted this exact same vid in the music section we've corresponded on lately, but thought, "nah, it's more film than music." But it's not true, the music in this movie is what makes this movie work, and that karaoke scene is stellar, the look she gives him during "More than this" is f'ing beauty itself, the look everyone is searching for, call me a homeless romantic, but my god! More than this and that look, there's absolutely nothing more than that. And Bill Murray singing karaoke, life doesn't get any better. Btw, she made another one with Bill that was worthy:

    Grimes/Ahriman/Death Before Dying

Grimes (mother of Musk's children) has a new movie coming out entitled "Ahriman/Death Before Dying".
More about that starting at 47 minutes in Dark Journalist's latest episode Special Report: X Ahriman Elon UFO File 2024
DJ has some very interesting insights into Musk that you won't find elsewhere, and all the dots he connects in this entire episode also relate to Musk.

I think you may both be missing the original intention of this thread. There have been a few posts recently that didn't really belong so I'm requesting it stops before the thread spirals out of control. It is fine if no-one posts anything for a year, that is how rare the films that genuinely lift us are.

The first one belongs in an Elon Musk thread of which there are many, the second belongs in some Hollywood 'same story, different script' thread - I don't think there is one of those.

    Thank you.

I have always found it so interesting that 2 people can watch a movie and one can receive a profound spiritual message from it and another can watch it and be bored to tears. Yours is a wonderful description of that, Vicus.
