Just bought a jar of organic oil to try oil pulling - will let you know how I get on !
Chances are you'll see a noticeable difference after one application.
I need to find something fast that works for typical British gum disease ( hate to admit it ! ) - 70,s sweets and coke !!! all leading to severe heart disease at 50 despite being slim and younger looking !

    No joke - it's killing me !

Coconut oil mixed with some flavored stevia makes for a GREAT jelly replacement for your tea and biscuits (totaly sterio typing you here.. sorry.. haha) as long as it's cool enough for the coconut oil to stay mostly solid.

a high fat low sugar/carb diet will help correct some of those issues... sugar encourages really nasty microbes that produce a lot of acids and our bodies don't react well to acids (causes vascular issues among many other things).

Hello Did You See Them, here's another super product I use: ”Oralive Toothpaste" from AscendedHealth.com

It's worth my health investment dollars. It lasts about 6-8 months, keeps my teeth white and there’s no plaque build up. Rather than twice yearly, I go once a year for dental cleaning/check ups. And I’m in and out in no time. Another way I look at it...I get a lifetime supply of toothpaste for free + continued heart health.

Description: All natural oral balancing paste made of live edible clays, calcium, superfoods, oxygen, essential oils, deep ocean trace minerals, ancient probiotic bacteria. Helps reset oral bioterrain with friendly microbes. Does not contain flouride or soap. Vegan.

Designed to help support your body to
    • inhibit bacteria that cause cavities, plaque and gingivitis
    • alleviate gum pain & gum bleeding
    • whiten teeth

I've been off working instead of participating but I have checked in a couple times to admire the wonderful commentary. You guys and gals never cease to amaze me with your intelligence! This was more of an affirmation post for me. We keep a jar in the bathroom and one in the kitchen and use it for all the above and more. It doesn't surprise me to read about new healing discoveries because we've seen it first hand! I love to read about all the other uses people discover. Now, off to make some decaf coffee with coconut....

Oh hey, Pro tip, for those with gum issues and are trying the oil pulling. Try soaking or leaving some threads of dental floss to soak in the coconut oil and the. Use them to floss with. It gets the oil into the tight spot and under the gum line.

I'm a dental assistant. I know these things. jk. I know some things.

Also protects the mind from alzheimers which has been proven to have a bacteria in the memory section of the brain. I've loved coconut oil and have used it for 3 years now. It's great for so many of things currently ailing us. Like cannibis, the combinations or ranges of opportunity for disease prevention are endless.

I read a post from The People's Pharmacy about coconut cookies solving IBD. I enjoy that site, as I enjoy reading the comments from real people at the bottom of the articles, so I subscribe to their email news.

But anyway, I would never have suspected that coconut macaroons could actually help so many people with their bowels! (I made some myself rather than store bought ones. 3 days, like the comments claim, and sure enough, sucess!)

A little research out of curiosity brought up the PDF below. Pretty amazing benefits for sure. It might be a great tool against biological weaponry, what with all the bactericidal and virucidal properties.

Loved that video palehorse, which brought back memories so thanks for sharing. I lived in Haiti for two years in the late 70s where coconut was plentiful and you could eat them straight from the tree, that is if you could get someone to shin up and get you one. They would use a machete very skilfully and cut a hole in the top (from memory there are three softer indents) so you could drink the water and then itwould be cut in half and you'd use a bit of the shell to scoop out coconut. The texture was very very soft, hence they were called "jelly nuts". The coconut milk described in the video was available everywhere, although the part on how to extract the oil was new to me. I also appreciated the massage element from the hard shell, especially with the emphasis now being on pain relieving fascia massage which, although it may seem faddy to some, has been a revelation for me after years of discomfort. Sadly many doctors are still unaware of the fascia "phenomenon".

While writing, and a little off topic, in Haiti mango trees grow wild, as do banana and plantain, thankfully for the Haitian people, and Haitian coffee is, imo, the best in the world. Unfortunately it's not easy to find in the UK.

Hi Miller, I say the same I really loved it, and I am glad it triggered some good memories for you

You mentioned plantain, wow I really like those chips they make with caramel, it is great taste, unfortunately here too isn't easy to find, the Haitian coffee is available on many coffee shops I confirm it is great taste.

Regarding the coconut oil, the hot extraction may or may not degrade a little bit the nutrients and antioxidants, I really don't know, but what I know, they don't use distillation to extract oil of coconut milk because it would need to heat up really high temps and that would absolutely degrade the quality of the oil, so slow cooking like in the video it may work well.. again I don't know. I always heard the cold extraction (cold-pressed to produce virgin coconut oil) is the ideal one but it produces less oil than hot extraction or other processes to extract the oil, so in commercial terms I think the methods used to extract may be one of these: "hot extraction, low-pressure extraction, chilling, freezing and thawing method, fermentation, centrifugation, enzymatic extraction and supercritical fluid carbon dioxide" as per this document:

    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8132276/

I was doing some research on coconut oil a while ago, I am really interested in doing some large batches to stock, something like go crazy doing coco oil for a week and storing. I just need to find that mental edge to jump into it haha
Coconut I can get here for as low as 5 Bath per coco, which is something like 0.13 Euro, of course I would have to buy a small truck full of it for that price, but it is relatively cheap product here, you can find it on every corner, it is like mangoes, papayas, bananas.

I am an absolute believer in the myriad of benefits of coconut oil. Not only do I put it on my skin but I literally eat it by the spoonful (probably sound gross, I know) every day and can almost feel my brain soaking it up. I would so love to have access to fresh coconuts from the tree as Miller describes. Out of all the magnificent foods provided to us I believe the wonderful coconut is one of the greatest. I have to admit buying a coconut in the shell from the US they are obviously quite old is disapointing, they are nothing as beautifully described by Miller.

I also wanted to thank you Miller, for sharing the lovely memories of the abundance and beauty of Haiti, all we seem to hear about it is what the political machine has done to destroy it. May it return to the paradise it was meant to be.

    .

thanks to all contributors in this thread....

after reading through the other day I bought a jar of organic, cold pressed coconut oil - I'm trying it in black coffee and it's nice...

but just having spoonfuls straight from the jar is lovely - it melts in the mouth and has a good flavour and feel to it -

to celebrate - let's have a trip on Coconut Airways....

    Woah, I'm going to barbados(3:22)
