Fascinating story Just to depart from the spiritual aspect a moment, I think I should point out a slight deception in the reporting. This is what I understand as happened: His heart stopped, so he was kept alive for 48 mins by a machine that pumped blood to his brain. During that time he had a subjective spiritual experience which surprised his sensibilities. Possibly he needed a motherly form of God at the time, so that's what he got.

My own experience of God didn't give me any notion of gender at all, just reassurance that life was worth the candle. Still, I know better now that to claim the absolute truth in anything I think I know or knew.
