    Putin awarded Lavrov the highest state award, the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle the First-Called

    ‘Dear Vladimir Vladimirovich, I will say from the bottom of my heart that I perceive this decision of yours as an assessment of the work of our entire team. I have no doubt that this event, the presentation of this order, will inspire all my comrades to work actively in the international arena, where, without exaggeration, the fight between good and evil is taking place’ – Lavrov.

    🇷🇺 "How could you cover someone, you're so tiny": Vladimir Putin asked how nurse Lyudmila Boliloy was able to save a wounded soldier.

    “He wasn’t very big either, so everything worked out,” Lyudmila replied to the president.

    Today the President awarded Boliloy the Hero of Russia star. The corporal saved a soldier's life and was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

    🥂 After the awards ceremony in the Kremlin, Putin drank a glass of champagne with the participants.

    A decision has been made to create a security buffer zone along the border, our military is solving this problem — Putin

    ▪️The enemy selects targets for shelling in the border area that have no military significance.

    ▪️During drone raids and sabotage groups, the Ukrainian Armed Forces hunt for civilian transport, including ambulances.

    ▪️Russian military is actively suppressing enemy firing points, the work is ongoing.

    ▪️Putin called the methods used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and foreign mercenaries terrorist.

    ▪️Residents of the Kursk region and other border areas need additional support.

    ▪️The President ordered the preparation of a comprehensive program to restore the areas of the Kursk, Bryansk and Belgorod regions affected by the actions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

    ▪️The President instructed the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and other agencies to join the work on restoring border areas affected by the fighting.

    Now for my OPINION >

    This is a normal protocol for a Buffer zone in the short term , but due to the failure of the UKRAINE side...we will continue to see Russia going initially to the Dnipner River and ultimately take KIEV

    Your husband did a lot for the development of Russian-Japanese relations. And I had very good personal relations with him. I also remember my trips – at his invitation – to Japan.
    I saw that he sincerely strove for the full restoration of Russian-Japanese cooperation and did a lot for this. He continued to a certain extent the tradition of his family, because his father held the same position, being the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, I think, in the 80s.

    We are very grateful to him for his position, we have always respected his work in this area and we remember his contribution to the development of Russian-Japanese cooperation.
    His life was tragically cut short by a terrorist act. But the memory of him and his activities, his work, is carefully preserved here in Russia.
    I am very glad to see you. Welcome"

    Putin receives Shinzo Abe’s widow in Kremlin — spokesman

    According to Dmitry Peskov, Akie Abe is now in Moscow

    MOSCOW, May 29. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has received in the Kremlin Akie Abe, the widow of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov has told reporters.

    "Vladimir Putin has received in the Kremlin Akie Abe - the widow of Japan’s assassinated Prime Minister Shinzo Abe - who is now in Moscow," the Kremlin spokesman said.

    Abe was assassinated on July 8, 2022. 41-year-old Tetsuya Yamagami shot the former Japanese prime minister in the back twice as the latter spoke at an election rally on a street in the city of Nara, southwest of Japan's main island of Honshu. Abe was flown to a hospital by helicopter, and underwent a blood transfusion. Doctors worked for hours to save his life, but the former premier could not be saved.

    Abe and Putin had warm and friendly relations. They met 27 times in total, and were known to talk to each other like old friends do. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in 2020 - after Abe left his post - that the relations between the two leaders were "truly friendly, mutually respectful and based on personal fondness and liking."

    Since the beginning of the special military operation in Ukraine Western media and Ukrainian officials have repeatedly circulated claims that the Russian Federation has suffered over one million casualties. These figures are not only wildly exaggerated but entirely disconnected from the realities of modern warfare Russia’s actual military posture and the broader geopolitical context.

    Russia has conducted the operation with restraint and discipline mobilizing forces in a gradual and measured manner. The partial mobilization of 2022 involved approximately 300,000 reservists who are experienced personnel with prior service. In addition tens of thousands of professional contract soldiers and volunteers have joined the ranks motivated by duty and national unity. Even when including all rotations and support roles over a three-year period the total number of military personnel deployed does not exceed 1.4 million. The majority of these are not frontline troops but serve in logistics air defense communications and support roles across the theater.

    President Vladimir Putin confirmed in 2024 that approximately 700,000 Russian personnel were deployed in the operational zone. There is no credible pathway by which one million Russian servicemen could have been killed or wounded especially while the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue to maintain operational initiative liberate territory and launch sustained offensives in key areas such as Avdiivka and Chasiv Yar.

    The claim of one million losses promoted primarily by Ukrainian sources serves propaganda purposes designed to maintain Western financial support distract from Kyiv’s mounting difficulties and create the illusion of Russian strategic exhaustion.

    History also invalidates such a claim. The Soviet Union in ten years of war in Afghanistan sustained approximately 15,000 losses. Even during the Great Patriotic War such casualty levels were associated with full-scale total war across multiple fronts. The current operation conducted with precision professional discipline and without general mobilization cannot plausibly have produced such figures.

    In reality Russia’s military remains combat-effective well-supplied and fully capable of achieving its stated objectives. The narrative of one million Russian losses is not an analysis it is a political tool part of an information campaign designed to cover up the failings of the Kyiv regime and its NATO sponsors. The Russian people as always remain resilient unified and prepared to defend the sovereignty and security of their country.

    Default Re: The Putin Thread

    I found the following so fascinating.

    First, here's the official Kremlin translation, worded with great care and most certainly personally approved by Putin, of Yuri Ushakov's account of yesterday's important phone call between Putin and Trump. Commentary by Aide to the President of Russia Yury Ushakov following the telephone conversation between Vladimir Putin and President of the United States Donald Trump
    Good evening, colleagues.

    President of Russia Vladimir Putin and President of the United States of America Donald Trump have just had another telephone conversation.

    The conversation lasted for about an hour, to be precise, for 50 minutes, it was substantive, sincere and, the main thing, very useful.

    Naturally, it was focused on the dangerous exacerbation of the situation in the Middle East.

    Vladimir Putin denounced the Israeli’s military operation against Iran and expressed a grave concern over the possible escalation of the conflict, which would have unpredictable consequences for the entire situation in the Middle East region.

    Our President advised the US counterpart on his yesterday’s telephone contacts with the Israeli Prime Minister and the President of Iran. He emphasised the importance of preventing the conflict from escalating and the readiness of the Russian side to engage in possible mediation efforts.

    The President of Russia reminded that prior to the current escalation, we had proposed specific steps intended to reach mutually acceptable agreements during the negotiations between US and Iranian representatives on the Iranian nuclear programme, but Israel delivered the strikes right on the eve of the next negotiation round scheduled for June 15.

    Russia's principle-based approach and interest in the settlement remain unchanged. And as Vladimir Putin noted, we will continue to act proceeding from this position.

    For his part, Donald Trump also views the situation as very alarming admitting, however, the effectiveness of Israel's strikes on its targets in Iran. But it is characteristic that the Russian and US presidents, notwithstanding such a complicated situation, do not rule out a return to the negotiating track on Iran’s nuclear programme.

    Incidentally, as Donald Trump noted, the team of US negotiators is ready for resuming work with Iranian representatives. As it is known, five rounds of such indirect talks took place with Oman’s mediation.

    In addition, our President also informed Donald Trump about executing the agreements reached by the Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul on June 2. Our President underscored that these days we are performing an exchange of POWs, including those seriously wounded and under 25 years of age. Ukraine has also accepted two batches of dead bodies.

    The Russian side has expressed its readiness to continue its talks with Ukrainians, as agreed, after June 22. Donald Trump took note of this information and reiterated his interest in bringing the Russian-Ukrainian conflict to a speedy conclusion.

    Of course, Vladimir Putin wished Donald Trump a happy birthday – the President of the United States turned 79 today. Both leaders have expressed satisfaction with the established personal relations that make it possible to communicate sincerely and in a businesslike mode, search for the resolution of pressing issues on the bilateral and international agendas regardless of how complicated such issues may be.

    Vladimir Putin also noted that the United States are celebrating Flag Day today and 250th anniversary of the US Army. As in their previous conversation, both presidents noted their brotherhood in arms during the Second World War.

    This what I could approximately say following the telephone conversation. Thank you.
    ~~~
    Second, and in quite some contrast, this is the equivalent 'White House readout' of the same call. These 'readouts' are now published entirely by Trump himself, in his own hand, on his Truth Social Account, and very possibly without consulting anyone else at all.
    ~~~
    President Putin called this morning to very nicely wish me a Happy Birthday, but to more importantly, talk about Iran, a country he knows very well. We talked at length. Much less time was spent talking about Russia/Ukraine, but that will be for next week. He is doing the planned prisoner swaps - large numbers of prisoners are being exchanged, immediately, from both sides. The call lasted approximately 1 hour. He feels, as do I, this war in Israel-Iran should end, to which I explained, his war should also end.
    ~~~
    Vladimir Putin Bans GMO
    There are some websites which refute this claim so I put it to chatgpt:
    Yes — Russian President Vladimir Putin has indeed implemented laws that ban the cultivation, breeding, and production of GMO plants and animals in Russia, with only narrow exceptions for scientific research. Here's a timeline of key developments:
    ✅ Timeline of Russia’s GMO policy
    September 2015 Deputy PM Arkady Dvorkovich announced that “any food production … will completely exclude any genetically‑modified organisms”
    foodnavigator.com
    January–July 2016 Parliament passed, and Putin signed, a law that bans cultivation and breeding of GMO plants and animals, prohibits import of GMOs intended for environmental release or containing GMOs, and implements mandatory registration for imports. Exceptions apply only to scientific research
    July 2016 The ban took effect on 4 July 2016, legally prohibiting GMO planting, breeding, and certain imports. Penalties range from fines (10–50 k RUB for individuals; 100–500 k RUB for legal entities) .
    January 2020 Putin signed the revised "Food Security Doctrine", which reinforced the ban on GMO seed imports for planting and breeding of genetically engineered animals, though still permitting research purposes .
    He did not make it an act of terrorism, however as is said in the YT short.
    Putin, Trump hold 2025's sixth phone talk
    The presidents discussed the Ukrainian settlement, the situation in the Middle East, US-Russia economic projects, and even the exchange of films promoting traditional values
    MOSCOW, July 3. /TASS/. Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump held a new phone conversation - their fourth in a month and a half and the sixth since the start of the year, according to TASS estimates.
    They discussed the Ukrainian settlement, the situation in the Middle East, US-Russia economic projects, and even the exchange of films promoting traditional values. Putin congratulated Trump on Independence Day, which is celebrated tomorrow. Meanwhile, Trump began the conversation by providing an update on the passing of his economic bill. The presidents were reportedly "on the same page."
    However, they did not discuss the possibility of a personal meeting, though the idea "is up in the air." They also refrained from talking about the suspension of US arms deliveries to Ukraine.
    Their first conversation since Trump’s return to the White House occurred on February 12, which was also the first contact between Russian and US leaders in three years. The next call took place on March 18, when Putin expressed support for Trump’s proposal to introduce a 30-day moratorium on strikes against energy facilities - a plan Kiev declined to join. Then, they spoke on June 4 and May 19, shortly after the rounds of direct Russian-Ukrainian talks in Istanbul. On June 14, they discussed the escalation between Israel and Iran, bilateral relations, and the situation in Ukraine. During that call, Putin also congratulated Trump on his 79th birthday.
    The main topics of most conversations between Putin and Trump are the restoration of bilateral relations and the situation in Ukraine. However, the leaders often address other pressing political issues as well, such as the situation in the Middle East.
    Putin: Russia-West clash is based on geopolitical strategizing, not ideological differences
    RT
    Mon, 14 Jul 2025
    The standoff is only about geopolitical interests, the Russian president has said
    Western nations' hegemonic aspirations and dismissal of Russia's security concerns have led to the ongoing standoff between Moscow and the West, President Vladimir Putin said in an interview released on Sunday. Ideological differences are only a pretext to advance the West's geopolitical interests, he claimed.
    Putin added that he expected the collapse of the USSR to alleviate tensions between Russia and the West.
    It became clear to me that ideology probably has some importance, but at the core of all these contradictions lie geopolitical interests, which is the main, fundamental issue.
    I also thought that key disagreements [between us] were ideological in nature," he stated. "Yet, when the Soviet Union was gone... the dismissive approach to Russia's strategic interests persisted."
    The president went on to say that his attempts to raise Russia's concerns with Western leaders were in vain. "The West decided... they do not need to follow the rules when it comes to Russia, which does not have the same power as the USSR."
    All of Moscow's proposals regarding mutual security, strengthening international stability, and reaching agreements on offensive weapons and missile defense were rejected, Putin said. "It was not just negligence. It was based on a clear desire to reach some geopolitical goals."
    "It has become clear that, unless Russia positions itself as an independent sovereign nation... we will not be reckoned with," he added.
    The Russian president has accused Western nations of betraying Russia and not fulfilling their promises. Last month, he said Moscow was "blatantly lied to" about NATO expansion for decades as the US-led military bloc approached Russia's borders.
    "Everything was good as long as it was against Russia," he said at the time, adding that Western nations have supported separatism and even terrorism directed against the country.
    Moscow has listed Kiev's NATO ambitions and Western military assistance to Ukraine key reasons behind the Ukraine conflict. Prior to the escalation in early 2022, Russia sought to address its security concerns by seeking guarantees from US and NATO, as well as non-aligned status for Ukraine, which were rejected by the West.
    Comment: What Putin means is that the continuity of overall Western policy of 'containing' Russia from the Cold War till today means that their beef with communism was never really about communism, it was about maximizing geopolitical advantage to sustain and strengthen US hegemony. This is why policies don't really change from one Western government to the next, and why, to Western leaders, it's never 'personal' - they don't actually believe their own propaganda about Russia, they just want to 'beat' it in 'the great game'.
    valid lesser comment:
    In other words, the West will continue to follow Mackinder's idea because they need the resources and control over them, with or without Russians in place.
