"please be advised, within 24-72 hours the president will evoke what is called the stafford act. just got off the phone with some of my military friends down in D.C. who just got out of a two hour briefing. the president will order a two week mandatory quarantine for the nation."

they are shutting bars and restaurants down in California tomorrow from everything i've heard.
Interesting. This is the second place I've heard this tonight.

Are you guys starting to see what I'm starting to see?

They are beginning to limit, by some new decree, groups of people gathering in public. I've seen some cities say FIFTY people, others, TWENTY FIVE. 25 people. Makes sense, right? Bars, restaurants. Arenas.

What if at some point we say "enough's enough" and gather in our town squares? Make some noise, "we don't agree, etc." What'll they do? What if they count 26 people? Will it be local police? National Guard? A warning? Shots fired? Rounded up and taken...??

Trying to keep my head on straight. Feel like my hand is starting to wave bye bye to our 1st Amendment.

Below is a google translate article that is long and does have real value.

COVID-19, Pneumonia and Inflammasomes – The Link to Melatonin

Here is a piece of it

    Quote Melatonin inhibits NLRP3 inflammasomes

Melatonin is well known for its chronobiotic effects, which regulate biological functions related to circadian rhythms. Numerous studies have revealed that melatonin exerts effects beyond the control of circadian oscillators. The NLRP3 inflammasome is now recognized as a target of melatonin!

The fact that the effects of the pro-inflammatory cytokine storm are induced by the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome, the ability of THEHP3 INHIBIT inflammasoma melatonin elevates this powerful molecule into a truly unique position in the fight against COVID-19. This also means that if a patient, regardless of age, has adequate melatonin, coVID-19 contagion will be greatly reduced and the chances of developing ARDS/ALI will decrease significantly.

Melatonin is why children under the age of 9 rarely experience severe symptoms. In fact, children may have mild or even absent symptoms, even if they have been infected with SARS-CoV-2 [73]. How significant is the difference in melatonin production between children, adults and the elderly?

For most people, the peak melatonin production is between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. The maximum melatonin levels measured in healthy adults aged 65 to 70 years appeared to be about 49.3 picograms/ml (pg/ml). Adults over the age of 75 have only maximum production levels of 27.8 pg/ml [74].

Young children, on the other hand, have extremely high levels of melatonin, compared to adults. The highest levels recorded for children showed a decline as they got older. Children aged 1 to 5 years had a melatonin peak at 325 pg/ml, while those aged 5 to 11 years had already dropped to 133 pg/ml [76].

Compared to healthy seniors, a child can easily have TEN TIMES the amount of peak melatonin levels. But even in this case, the current physiological concentration is extremely low. How much exactly does a picogram cost?

To give you a perspective, most melatonin supplements are about 3-5 mg per capsule or tablet. One milligram equals 1,000,000,000 picograms. That is why the physiological dosage generally recommended for melatonin supplementation is about 0.3 milligrams [75].

The fact that young children have such high melatonin levels explains why they show very mild symptoms after COVID-19 infections.

Melatonin is a powerful inhibitor of NLRP3 inflammasomes.

Generally referred to as the "dark hormone," melatonin's ability to regulate both pro and anti-inflammatory cytokines under different pathophysiological conditions has been extensively studied in recent years.

Control of cytokine storms is one of the biggest challenges in the treatment of sepsis. The NLRP3 inflammasome has an interesting nickname of "Pandora's Vase for Sepsis. Yet nature offers all the solutions to difficult health challenges.

NLRP3 inflammasomes are a direct target of melatonin. Animal models of sepsis showed melatonin's ability to maintain mitochondrial homeostasis, reduce reactive oxygen species and reduce the production of pro-inflammation cytokines. Melatonin has been shown to inhibit NLRP3 inflammasomes in mice with septic myocardial conditions, turning severe myocardial inflammation into milder symptoms, preventing heart failure and significantly improving heart failure rates survival of septic mice [77, 78].

An excellent study by Volt et al (2016) showed that low chronic doses of melatonin in older mice could prevent an increase in inflammation, ROS and mitochondria alterations that reflect inflammation [79, 80]. Volt et al. it also showed that acute melatonin administration could counteract severe inflammatory responses [81].

It is therefore not surprising to find that melatonin is able to prevent ARDS/ALI by suppressing NLRP3 inflammasomes.

In models of acute lung damage from rodent (ALI), it was found that melatonin greatly reduces lung damage, and also the infiltration of macrophages and neutrophils into the lungs.

Melatonin protected mice from acute lung injury by inhibiting the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome by suppressing extracellular release of histones and blocking the activation of the histone-induced INflammasoma NLRP3 .

In rodent models of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), the combined treatment of melatonin and mitochondria significantly attenuated the progression of ARDDS [85].

Sorry if I flip the cup ( of your question) upside down. I see in many corners of the world a willingness and need to overcome the “herd mentality”.
We have won our privacy for now. For all that matters.

What if we were forced to gather instead ? Herded like sheep and ordered to some kind of medical camp. Would you prefer that .

Currently and from practical observation of what’s going on and what’s been always going on I can foresee small but not insignificant danger from rogue individuals some of whom may have been infected by one or another virus, increasing their weird-o-ness acting out of order because the “end of the world” is at hand,
in some brains and minds anyway.

There will be couple of rogue religious fanatics and some with shot guns acting out their virus if it ever gets them because these undisclosed psychos fear medical care the most.

There won’t be “more of them” but some will come out of their dens once they can smell the fresh air of freedom

If that happens even once the gov will panic and evoke military law.

Let’s hope that none of it will happen. No acting out, no dramas, no military.

    Good day to all 🙏😷

Austria: people are allowed to leave the house only alone or with their familiy members/housemates. No gatherings more than five. All shops closed except essential goods. Acces to those will most probably be restricted.
Additional side effect: people will be glued to their screens 24/7. If this will go on long enough, suicide rates will rise.

    An update from Ecuador.
"Ecuador’s President Lenín Moreno announced in a televised address on Sunday that all movement of people and vehicles would be restricted from 6am on Tuesday, 17 March. Exceptions would be made to buy food, visit hospitals, commute to and from work, or to care for the sick or elderly."
That's in addition to the closure of all borders (land, sea and air) to everyone, even citizens returning to the country, on Monday midnight.

Island Ecuador: and it's absolutely the right thing. Almost all other countries will soon be doing the same, and Ecuador, with only a couple dozen cases, is ahead of the curve.

Island me, too. But I'm 100% totally fine here.

An excellent article from Politico about the failure of leadership. (Right on. It's critical of Trump, of course, but rightly so. He's not the only national leader who's been very slow, and/or in public denial of reality.)
    The incompetence pandemic
    16 March, 2020

The first victim of the coronavirus? Leadership.

    Welcome to politics’ darkest hour.

If the coronavirus outbreak has taught us anything beyond the necessity of careful hygiene, it’s that the first victim of a pandemic is leadership.

At no time in the past 75 years has the world been in more need of a “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself” moment; and at no time have global leaders so utterly failed to deliver.

From Beijing to Brussels, from Rome to Washington, London and beyond, politicians haven’t just failed to rise to the occasion, they’ve engaged in a dangerous game of parsing, obfuscation and reality-denial that has cost lives and delayed a resolute response.

Even though virologists have been warning for weeks that the outbreak could explode, political leaders, particularly in the West, did little to halt its advance.

Like the virus itself, which scientists have traced to the Chinese city of Wuhan (and leaders there denied and downplayed for weeks), the prevailing political strategy for confronting the crisis was Made in China.

Few may have expected inspired leadership from U.S. President Donald Trump, who dismissed the coronavirus as a Democratic “hoax” and just days ago predicted it would disappear “like a miracle.” Even so, his fumbling of a national address on the emergency, followed by his trademark blame-shifting for his government’s lack of preparedness (“I don’t take responsibility at all”), will be remembered as a low point in American political leadership.

Solidarity with allies? Think again. Trump followed up his ban on Europeans traveling to the U.S. (a decision he announced without even making a courtesy phone call to EU leaders beforehand) with an attempt to reportedly buy a vaccine-maker out from under the Germans’ noses, aiming to guarantee Americans are first in line for the corona shot the firm is developing.

The irony is that the Trump administration previously opted not to use the German-developed coronavirus test endorsed by the World Health Organization, choosing instead to develop its own version, which has proved unreliable. The decision has created massive delays in testing in the U.S., allowing the “foreign virus,” as Trump calls it, to spread unabated. South Korea tests more people per day than the U.S. has in total in the weeks since the outbreak began. The fiasco didn’t stop Trump from falsely claiming last week that “testing has been going very smooth.”

While Trump gets the most attention for his corona bungling, he’s hardly alone. Brazilian strongman Jair Bolsonaro, who met the American president last week in Florida, characterized the coronavirus panic as a media-fueled “fantasy.” A day later, his press secretary tested positive.

A quick question while I'm still lingering on Page 89 of this thread (but not as far behind the curve as Infowars at least as far as updates go):

Have there been to anyone's knowledge any reported cases in Iceland? Unless I'd missed an update - I don't think I have - they've been largely absent from statistics, so far.

    From Bill:
Yes, Iceland has 175 reported cases (including 14 more today) — the highest in the world in terms of number of cases per million population. (According to official figures, that is.)

What is happening in Russia. There seems to be very few cases

Yes, very few. It's not 100% impossible that their stats are correct. (Source: https://worldometers.info/coronavirus)

On a lighter note, but supporting the age old adage, "many a true word is spoken in jest" (with strong language):

While Trump has created plenty of reasons to criticize his leadership in this area, this Politico statement from your article above:

Quote Donald Trump, who dismissed the coronavirus as a Democratic “hoax”
is clearly a Democratic talking point that even Snopes documents as inaccurate.

Best not to rely on Politico for factual reporting these days.

To me this is another example of MSM 'fake news' that continues to be amplified.

    https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/tr...-rally-remark/

    Quote What's True
During a Feb. 28, 2020, campaign rally in South Carolina, President Donald Trump likened the Democrats' criticism of his administration's response to the new coronavirus outbreak to their efforts to impeach him, saying "this is their new hoax." During the speech he also seemed to downplay the severity of the outbreak, comparing it to the common flu.

    What's False
Despite creating some confusion with his remarks, Trump did not call the coronavirus itself a hoax.

It's probably wise to bare in mind that the virus may be a bioweapons program using the argument I just used as justification for the outbreak. It's possible but it could be exactly what it appears to be.

Best open your eyes and get out of the way! Boris Johnson might not agree with you Bill as the UK has taken a different path. A very interesting article in the Guardian explores the UK´s response.

I had assumed that the UK would do the same, that the authorities would be building their resources and plans around nationwide testing, contact tracing, quarantine and a progressive policy of social distancing. I assumed they would inform the public they had a two- to three-month “contain and delay” strategy to get the epidemic under control, and mobilise communities everywhere to provide local support. But from the press conferences last week, the government is not following the WHO strategy. They appear to have concluded that it is inevitable most people would get the disease, so we should let the epidemic proceed to allow 60% of the population to become infected and build herd immunity through the wild virus. What is the scientific justification for this departure from WHO policy? I have questions:

    https://www.theguardian.com/commenti...virus-outbreak
I find it very interesting that the US is making an exception to allow the UK citizens to enter the US. The 2 countries that seem to have taken a less than systematic approach to this are still co-mingling. In the US it seems that if there is any efficiency it is being done at the state or county level..and that is a day late and a dollar short. If we all waited for the CDC I doubt much would happen, but I'm pretty sure that 50 billion dollars allocated for this will be up in smoke.

Here where I am in the NW U.K., this area holds 500,000 people and we have 4 confirmed cases. This time last week we had 4 confirmed cases.
I was expecting this number to have at least doubled by now, assuming those 4 had infected even just one person each. Life is going on as normal here. Everything is still open. Sport is off but the majority of concerts, events, large scale club nights etc still continue. Yet no increase in numbers in the last week.

So either the true numbers aren’t being reported, or something is amiss.

My parents are currently stranded in southern Spain. Their flight back to Manchester from Malaga was cancelled and they are trying to get a flight from Gibraltar as currently that’s still open.

There is a complete lockdown in the Malaga/Andalucía region. Everything but supermarkets and pharmacies are closed. Everyone must take their passports with them when they go outside and you’re only allowed out to buy food, medicines or seek medical assistance. Only one person per car and if stopped on more than 3 occasions they are apparently implementing arrests for repeat ‘offenders’ not adhering to the regulations. Meanwhile there is no cases confirmed in this region.

Why is this ‘virus’ spreading like wildfire in some areas with a high rate of mortality (Italy, Iran) yet the likes of where I am no new cases in a week and we all go about life as normal. Eating out, socialising in large numbers etc.
Why are regions like where my parents are on lockdown with no cases, even if they lockdown for a month, when people come back out again it will surely start again?

Maybe I’m naive but this just isn’t adding up to me.

I’ve done some prepping to be on the safe side but life continues as normal. I get the feeling in the U.K. we may get Easter holidays extended from 2 weeks to 4 weeks.

I can’t help think this is just a very well planned out exercise in medical martial law to crash the financial system in Europe and China.

Meanwhile there is 20,000 US soldiers fully tooled up heading to join the already 10,000 on the ground in Europe for some war games...maybe that’s where all the masks, hand sanitizers and toilet rolls have gone too
