- The Ottawa Citizen reported in February that Boessenkool registered to lobby the federal government on immunization policy on behalf of Merck Frosst Canada.

Prior to that, he was Senior Economist in the regulatory departments at TransAlta and Aquila Canada, two large Calgary-based electricity companies. Ken also served as a policy advisor to two Finance Ministers in Alberta.
