are there any other canucks out there who survived the subscription scourging?
the last message was a week ago amd that about a meteor shower last month.
northern alberta still seems to be a safer place to be. the disturbing stories seem surreal. how are other northerners dealing with the current scenarios?
i hope the best for all in the coming year.
peace, patrick:rasta:

Still Here old pagan freak and I believe 2009 will not be a good one for all of us , so we need to get on the same page and work on what`s wrong with us to correct any possible disasters this coming year . In any case have a good New year and best of luck to you and your family in the coming year

I just updated to the new subscription. Maybe we'll get more people slowly coming back. Avalon is the best community site as far as I can see.

Best wishes to everyone for the new year! Looks like it'll be an interesting one.

Starlah,
I live in Vancouver, BC Canada. I travel to the States and set up ground crew meetings a lot there. I try here in BC, but it's so expensive to live in Vancouver, I'm afraid every one gets too tuckered out by the time the weekends show up! Perhaps it's the rain, or more recently the snow! But people are a little less likely to get off the computer here and meet face to face, perhaps they are just too sleepy:sleep_1:? I've had two meetings here, and so far it's just been me and Mizar chewing the fat over coffee.

Peace of Mind,
Wormhole

Happy New Year fellow Canuks!

To a Pine Beetle Free Northern Boreal Forest and Montane Cordillera in 2009!!!!

(It's cold here this winter - and it kills 'em. The winter weather has been mild for several years, so it's been a very big infestation problem - hectares & hectares of forests going.)

To me, it's a beautiful, good omen!

Wormhole I appreciate the fact you've had two meetings for the Ground Crew here in Vancouver BC...what people are focusing on around the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island is probably "grit" survival or just their daily life routines/activities. As for snow it was 2 ft. deep recently in the suburbs.
Your meetings in Vancouver haven't coincided with my working schedule...perhaps you could organize a "meeting" around the Victoria area on a weekday evening? I know of some excellent coffee shops.
Private message me on that and think I can provide a list of at least 3-5 persons on this Forum membership who might be interested.
Ciao. Starlah.

Some of you may know this already but I just found out about this two days ago. Costco online sells MRE 7-day Emergency Food Kits (heaters and shipping included) for 124,99$. Not cheap but hey, this product is listed in the Fine Foods category. :mfr_lol:

Just a follow up, an article from the Calgary Herald, March 20, 2009 by Tamara Gignac (coincidentally the first Day of Spring):

Winter's effects will be felt for months
... The Canadian Forest Service - with the help of a computer modelling system - believes the frigid temperatures in places like Jasper and Banff killed off some 95 percent of the deadly mountain pine beetle... "The mountain parks were on a trajectory toward rapid disaster, so any reprieve is welcome." [said a research scientist with Canadian Forest Service.]

William Cooper is one of the best whistleblowers. Too bad they took him out!

William, Thornbury is a beautiful town. I don't live too far away. (Western Grey county)

Phtha; the meeting on Vancouver Island didn't happen...think you were notified at the time. That does not mean we can't plan again...

I'd be up for another one at some point, how many other islanders do we have here? All the islanders so far seem to be from the ebil south side of the island.:tongue2:
