Sorry Swanny and everyone else. I don't mean to rain on your little happy parade, but it hasn't been this bad for me since 1985. Those of you not living in the US really have no idea how bad it is here!

Oh and I should say that I'm not knocking anybody here! I'm just a little pi..ssed off right now.
For example..... I just bid on a job at $10,100 dollars, the project manager talked me down to $8700 which is about a break even number for me. What does he do?, he gives it someone that bid $5500! Unbelieveable, the materials alone will be that much! That's what I'm constantly up against, and I'm using pricing that I used 10 years ago! I used to bid on projects against maybe three other companies, now I'm bidding against 14 companies. People who have jobs here are afraid they might lose them, and anything to do with the consruction industry people are just barely keeping their heads above water, those that actually have work. I've talked to people today on the phone in Florida, California, and Minnesota, and they're all saying the same thing. Things are terrible and getting worse. |

Generally, I'm happy.
There are a few things that get under my skin but they're no longer significant enough to derail my thoughts and feelings. |

I find myself smiling more each day for no particular reason. I've always been the serious sort, so for me, this is weird. Not that I'm knocking it. I'm appreciating everything more lately, nature, people, job, etc. They haven't changed, my point of view has. Happy? Uhm, yeah!

Thanks Kathleen!! I read an article on the neti pot, I hate taking allergy drugs because they make you feel funny, not as in HaHa, but weird. So I'm willing to try anything.
Last year it was so bad I said the hell with it and went and got a shot of cortisone. That did it, two days later I was normal and made it through the rest of the season! |

Also read my thread on cold showers.
Cold showers strengthen the membranes that are mainly hassled by pollen and such. It takes a few weeks to get there but it worked for me. Very little hayfever. (I also do the neti pot about 4 times per week, or once per day if I am sneezy). Same results as Kathleen. A.. |

Dan you need to eat local honey
![]() I used to get hay fever really badly when I was a boy, which was a real pain as me and my mates always played in the fields ![]() Now I'm old I only get it the beginning of June and only if I'm in England. As for work don't worry too much look for a new opportunity or a rich woman ![]() |

Brilliant thread Swanny. as always.
I'm happy, but happiness isn't about how much money or material possessions you have accumulated, its about how much you have learnt in this life - because thats why we're here. If you reach the end of your life and say "is that it? Is that all?" "what did i do with my life?"... or you fear death, something went badly wrong. Take the time to read this quote from the Dalai Lama, written on June 2, 1992. It will help you to find "happiness". "Naturally, most of us would like to die a peaceful death, but it is also clear that we cannot hope to die peacefully if our lives have been full of violence, or if our minds have mostly been agitated by emotions like anger, attachment, or fear. So if we wish to die well, we must learn to live well: Hoping for a peaceful death, we must cultivate peace in our mind, and in our way of life". |

Isn't happiness a feeling? that passes by presence and then is released?
then come anger, and passes by presence and then it's released. The same goes for sadness, apathy, frustration, confusion, fear. I don't know what I actually am, but I know what I feel. I don't think I can describe in words what I am, because words cannot grasp it for me. I can feel happy right now, but then 10 minutes later, feel very sad, but it's never a state of being, it's just a feeling going through presence. Feelings are just that. They are not a state of being. This is where I think people get confused. We identify with the feeling and think it is who we are. I myself will say that I feel more positive emotions lately, rather than the negative ones, but that could all change, depending on the momentum I set for myself from the thoughts I allow to have and to welcome or to hold inside my mind. Mind wants to find something to hold on to, something to think about the future, or some recollection to think in the past. This is the mind. Am I my mind? I don't think so. This is just my opinion and experience. it's not right nor wrong. But my mind wants it to be right! there's the trap. |

we are not mind ... we are heart ... we're not emotions ... we are BEing ... not good ... not bad ... not happy ... not sad ... not right ... and not wrong ... we are of this moment ... only of this moment ... and our emotion ... of this moment ... is only experienced ... for this moment ... it then flows off ... freely ... but our mind ... our mind insists on capturing it ... holding on so very tight ... for fear ... that the emotion will never again return ... and if it did not ... then what would that make us ... who would we be ... i know who we'd be ... we'd be free ... i am happy ... in this moment ... sad ... in others ... always though ... i am fulfilled ... ![]() |
