This 'second' Iranian uranium enrichment facility news is conveniently timed, seems to blow focus off Gaza. Kissinger's wiki bio back to the Holocaust, Iran PM disputing Holocaust #'s, here we go again. Anyway, this is about January 2009.
From Amnesty International - Alarmingly, we understand that the UK Government (a member of the council) is not planning to support key recommendations, which Amnesty believe offer the best chance of ensuring justice and accountability, as a well as a deterrent to future conflicts. Instead, they appear to be taking a lead from the US Government in dismissing the findings. During the 22-day conflict from 27 December 2008 to 18 January 2009, some 1,400 Palestinians and nine Israelis were killed. Most of the Palestinians killed by Israeli forces were unarmed civilians, including some 300 children. Indiscriminate Palestinian rocket attacks killed three Israeli civilians and six soldiers. There can be no long-term peace and security in the Middle East without an end to impunity - please email David Miliband today and urge him to support the Goldstone Report. http://www.amnesty.org.uk/actions_de...p?ActionID=631 Goldstone Report (pdf575pp) http://backspin.typepad.com/backspin...ts-online.html Jul 27, 2009 0:06 | Updated Jul 27, 2009 0:09 Israel prepares for Goldstone report More than a month before Judge Richard Goldstone is expected to present the findings of his UN Human Rights Council mission investigating alleged Israeli war crimes during Operation Cast Lead, Israel - taking a more proactive stance toward the super-critical reports of various NGOs and international bodies - has set up an interministerial committee to deal with the findings in detail, The Jerusalem Post has learned. http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satelli...cle%2FShowFull PM to Concentrate on Iranian Nuclear Threat Sep 24, 2009 19:54 | Updated Sep 25, 2009 21:27 Netanyahu rips UN for Ahmadinejad 'disgrace' Netanyahu opened his General Assembly address - which dealt more with Ahmadinejad and the UN Human Rights Council's Goldstone Report accusing Israel of war crimes than with the diplomatic process with the Palestinians - by saying that the UN had been "founded after the carnage of World War II precisely to prevent a recurrence of such events." http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satelli...cle%2FShowFull Iran's second uranium enrichment facility 'changes every equation' http://www.csmonitor.com/2009/0925/p99s01-duts.html Red Cross Red Crescent - Field Operations (Palestine), News http://www.ifrc.org/where/country/cn6.asp?countryid=205 ![]() Red Cross says Israel broke law in Gaza GENEVA, SWITZERLAND Jan 08 2009 17:35 http://www.mg.co.za/article/2009-01-...ke-law-in-gaza Gaza doctors struggle to treat deadly burns consistent with white phosphorus Dozens dying after Israeli attacks from injuries 'unlike any seen before' that medics say should not be fatal http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009...sphorus-israel |

Updates - 6mo. delay
![]() THE BLOCKADE Originally Posted by Steve_G View Post 01-04-2009, 04:11 PM It is true that Hamas has been firing rockets into Israel- I think 3 Isreali's have died in those attacks. It's also true that it was the Palestinians who refused to sign a new cease-fire agreement when the old one expired. What isn't being reported in the western media is why. As I understand it (and I'm open to correction here) the Israeli's had Gaza under seige, pretty much in the traditional sense of the word. Nothing gets in or out. That includes food, medical supplies and all the other things that people need to live. They allowed a trickle of the aid that's been sent to get in but that's all, keeping the Palestinians on the brink of starvation and prone to disease, and also denying them the medicines they needed to fight the effects of the deprivation. So Hamas had a choice- either watch their people die slowly through starvation and illness or fight back militarily in their severely limited way and invite the Israeli response we see now. In a nutshell, die slow or die fast. It isn't the first time the media have manipulated our perception of events surrounding the Gaza situation. I remember not long ago when Hamas launched "unprovoked" rocket attacks on Isreal, with very similar consequences. The media were all over it of course, condemning the Palestinian "Terrorists" for their assault. What they neglected to mention was that in the preceding couple of weeks Israeli warships had been shelling Palestinian beaches full of civilians, killing some and injuring many more. Somehow that little detail never made it into the western media either. Same ****, different day. The Isrealis provoke the attacks through what amount to war crimes, the western media and nations turn a blind eye and then condemn the Palestinians when they are forced to respond. As always, the truth is probably somewhere in between, but I'd bet dollars to donuts that it's a lot closer to what isn't being reported than what is. http://projectavalon.net/forum/showt...tanyahu&page=4 ------------------------------------------------------ U.N. Council Compromises Over Gaza Report Debate By REUTERS Published: October 7, 2009 Diplomats said the council's monthly discussion of the Middle East, originally slated for October 20, would now be held on October 14, in a compromise with Libya -- currently a council member -- and its Arab allies including the Palestinians... The Human Rights Council had been due to vote on Friday on a resolution that would have condemned Israel's failure to cooperate with the inquiry and forwarded the report to the Security Council. But action was postponed until March after U.S. pressure aimed at getting the peace process back on track. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has come under sharp criticism at home for agreeing to the delay. http://www.nytimes.com/reuters/2009/...israel-un.html |

Gaza zoo draws crowds with zebra-colored donkeys Thu Oct 8, 5:24 pm ET GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip – Gaza City zookeepers have found a creative way of drawing crowds to their dilapidated zoo — by painting their donkeys. The Marah Land Zoo's only two zebras died of hunger earlier this year when they were neglected during the Israel-Hamas war. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091008/...dd_gaza_zebras ![]() -------------------- Bleak outlook for bombed Gaza Zoo Page last updated at 19:36 GMT, Wednesday, 18 February 2009 Hundreds of Palestinian schoolchildren used to come to the Gaza Zoo every week, but not now. Tanks rolled through the area during the Israeli offensive. Much of the zoo was badly damaged, most of the animals died. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/7897385.stm |

Ooops, sorry about that Brook. I've been reading very closely on the James Casbolt thread. It's kind of an insider MI6 whistleblower area. Trust me, proceed there at your own risk.
![]() ![]() I was coming back in here to post this, too. DEPLETED URANIUM (DU) 1,000-2,000 TONS DU Spread Over Iraq's Cities ![]() From Leuren Moret 4-30-3 Here is the estimate of the tons of DU the US used in Iraq: 1000-2000 tons - more than three times the amount used in the first Gulf War...only this time it was primarily spread in Iraq's cities, not on the battlefield. The uranium and its radioactive decay products will remain toxic for over 4 billion years...and will slowly destroy the genetic future of the Iraqi people. http://www.apfn.org/apfn/du.htm ------------------------------------------- U.S. POSITION: NO CLEAN-UP While the U.K. has admitted that British Challenger tanks expended some 1.9 tons of DU ammunition during major combat operations in Iraq this year, the U.S. has refused to disclose specific information about whether and where it used DU during this yearcampaign. It also is refusing to let a team from the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) study the environmental impact of DU contamination in Iraq. http://www.apfn.org/apfn/du.htm Last edited by no caste; 10-11-2009 at 06:50 AM. |
