Default Re: Need help to bring my wife to US

Phil - I would agree that it's best to ride things out in Vietnam. I'm a US citizen who married a Vietnamese citizen about a dozen years ago. It took us 18 months for my wife's US visa, and then after a couple years we realized how much better life was in VN! We now live happily in Hanoi.

Looking back, it was a great decision to leave the US. We have plans to bring my parents over if they wish to leave, but that is entirely up to them.

Certainly the politics and level of social awareness here in VN are not ideal (partly due to Commnist Party dumbing down of the population over the years, partly due more recently to slavish adherence in the local media to the CNN/Reuters gospel since VN's accession to the WTO), but in general the community spirit is strong and the people are accustomed to pulling together in times of crisis. Also, there's plenty of grain and a number of nice places to live in the middle elevations such as Pleiku, Buon Ma Thuot, Kon Tum, etc.

Best of luck on your current immigration situation. These can be tough decisions indeed.
