Hi islandman,
You know how to get me going. The Chieftans.... I had almost all of their LP's up 'til 'Boil The Breakfast Early' and I liked the early Planxty stuff too. Not too keen on Sinead O'Connor. Just like Martin Carthys' daughter, they seemed to go into something I wasn't able to appreciate. My upbringing music wise, was tradtional folk, both English and Irish and when I was younger I even danced Morris for some years. ![]() Best regards, Steve Quote:

Hows it going Steve et al.,
The best music often comes out of difficult times, so at least we've got that to look forward to. The Planxty live album 2004 is great and their all still on the road as are the Cheftains, probably not in southeastern Brazil to often but what can you do. Good Luck. |

Interpretaions!
Extra dimensional 'abduction'?Either way this here is a quality track.Kings of Leon. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=LOg1YfapEd4 Stranded in this spooky town Stoplight is swaying and the phone lines are down Snow is crackling cold She took my heart, I think she took my soul With the moon I run Far from the carnage of the fiery sun Driven by the strangle of vein Showing no mercy I'd do it again Open up your eyes You keep on crying Baby I'll bleed you dry Skies are blinking at me I see a storm bubbling up from the sea And it's coming closer And it's coming closer You shimmy-shook my boat Leaving me stranded all in love on my own Do you think of me Where am I now Baby where do I sleep Feels so good but I'm old 2000 years of chasing taking its toll And it's coming closer And it's coming closer And it's coming closer And it's coming closer Last edited by Antaletriangle; 12-15-2008 at 09:34 PM. |

My pleasure...Music has a unque way of imparting so much emotion and insight-very powerful medium and when coupled with visuals can strike the right chord.

![]() Jethro Tull-Clasp. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=FAhwlpWASwA We travellers on the endless wastes in single orbits, gliding cold-eyed march towards the dawn behind hard-weather hoods a-hiding. Meeting as the tall ships do, marching in the channel afraid to chance a gentle touch --- afraid to make... the clasp. In high-rise city canyons dwells the discontent of ages. On ring roads, nose to bumper crawl commuters in their cages. Cryptic signals flash across from pilots in the fast lane. Double-locked and belted in ... too late to make the clasp. Let's break the journey now on some lonely road. Sit down as strangers will, let the stress unload. Talk in confidential terms, share a dark unspoken fear. Refill the cup and drink it up. Say goodnight and wish good luck. Synthetic chiefs with frozen smiles holding unsteady courses. Grip the reins of history, high on their battle horses. And meeting as good statesmen do before the T.V. eyes of millions, hand to hand exchange the lie --- pretend to make the clasp. Jethro Tull- The Clasp, from the album Broadsword and the Beast. Live version 1982 together with 'Broadsword'. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Ddpfco466f4 Jethro Tull comprised of Ian Anderson (flute), Martin Barre (electric guitar), Dave Pegg (base guitar), Peter John Vettese (keyboards) and Gerry Conway (drums) performing 'The Clasp' and 'Broadsword' during their Broadsword tour in 1982. The venue is most likely the Pianeta 7 up in Rome, Italy. Songs from the wood: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=LLAntvVe-OU Let me bring you songs from the wood: to make you feel much better than you could know. Dust you down from tip to toe. Show you how the garden grows. Hold you steady as you go. Join the chorus if you can: it'll make of you an honest man. Let me bring you love from the field: poppies red and roses filled with summer rain. To heal the wound and still the pain that threatens again and again as you drag down every lover's lane. Life's long celebration's here. I'll toast you all in merry cheer. Let me bring you all things refined: galliards and lute songs served in chilling ale. Greetings well met fellow, hail! I am the wind to fill your sail. I am the cross to take your nail: A singer of these ageless times. With kitchen prose and gutter rhymes. Songs from the wood make you feel much better. Cup of Wonder: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Vs-ZiRs_isM May I make my fond excuses for the lateness of the hour, but we accept your invitation, and we bring you Beltane's flower. For the May Day is the great day, sung along the old straight track. And those who ancient lines did lay will heed the song that calls them back. Pass the word and pass the lady, pass the plate to all who hunger. Pass the wit of ancient wisdom, pass the cup of crimson wonder. Ask the green man where he comes from, ask the cup that fills with red. Ask the old grey standing stones that show the sun its way to bed. Question all as to their ways, and learn the secrets that they hold. Walk the lines of nature's palm crossed with silver and with gold. Pass the cup and pass the lady, pass the plate to all who hunger. Pass the wit of ancient wisdom, pass the cup of crimson wonder. Join in black December's sadness, lie in August's welcome corn. Stir the cup that's ever-filling with the blood of all that's born. But the May Day is the great day, sung along the old straight track. And those who ancient lines did lay will heed this song that calls them back. Pass the word and pass the lady, pass the plate to all who hunger. Pass the wit of ancient wisdom, pass the cup of crimson wonder. Last edited by Antaletriangle; 11-11-2008 at 09:45 PM. |

Hi Antaletriangle,
Sounds like you and I had the same upbringing music wise. Songs From the Wood was in my opinion the best album Jethro Tull recorded. Recently to kill my yearning I managed a copy of Bursting Out a live album. Aaahhh. Fond memories of youth and Blighty. ![]() Best regards, Steve |
