Question U.N. Panel Says World Should Ditch Dollar

U.N. Panel Says World Should Ditch Dollar

Wed Mar 18, 2009 11:16am EDT

By Jeremy Gaunt, European Investment Correspondent

LUXEMBOURG (Reuters) - A U.N. panel will next week recommend that the world ditch the dollar as its reserve currency in favor of a shared basket of currencies, a member of the panel said on Wednesday, adding to pressure on the dollar.

Is the United Nations the NEW World Government?

I noticed the thread linked below has not received many views. Basically the U.N. has control over not only 70% of the world land, they are now working on taking over the water.

US Senate Gives UN Control Over 70% Of World's Land Mass

There is no distinction between federal land and privately owned land when it comes to land use under the jurisdiction of the U.N. The U.N. sees its role to be the establishment of policy -- it is up to the participating nations to see that the policy is implemented.

The United States is now bound by the international law that claims the power to dictate land use in 70% of the earth's land.

Hi peaceandlove,

I think the US dollar is already on its' way out. It slipped 5,1% against other hard currencies this week, the biggest weekly fall in nearly twenty years, which made the price of oil (in US$) rise to $50,00.

Today the US President should receive appalling news about the US economy being bleaker that first thought which should drive the dollar down even more.

I think that after the G20 it could very well be replaced by the Euro as global commercial currency.

Let's see what happens.

Best regards,

Steve

Hi Northern Boy,

Very interesting videos, I watched 1 & 2 of the first one.

I agree with 90% of what's in there, I beleive that the people in the US need to get off their lazy bum and start to take action to prepare themselves for the worst.

I think though, that before somebody can verify the intention of possible FEMA and government action that the context needs to be brought into the equation.

The eye witness said he overheard FEMA workers briefing the local police department. Was this FEMA worker speaking of a possible Plan B should the banks go under? Was the FEMA worker speaking of a devilish dastardly Plan A that the government is already executing? Was it a possible scenário if a natural disaster struck, or even an atomic bomb attack.

What I'm trying to get at here is not what may happen, but the implication of the motive behind it.

We heard in the videos that Obama was likened to Hitler, but then we learned that the probable threat of the banking collapse would be China calling in debt payments.

The reason behind my thinking is because I think the population will act in a different way if they knew the happenings were to help, instead of to try and control, or to imprison. Do you understand my logic?

However, once again, the US is in a very difficult situation and it will get much worse and the population should take precautionary action to protect themselves and to weather the storm.

I, thank goodness, am a very long way away and I also have a rural place to hide under the bed if needs be, but I would encourage action on behalf of everyone, not only in the US, but in Europe also. Things could get very sticky.

Best regards,

Steve

Thanks Steve but with the Fed now buying Treasury bonds it sends a huge message to the creditors of the U.S. debt and a bigger one to all U.S. citizens that China and Russia no longer want to purchase the useless paper it is printed on and that in turn puts pressure on the dollar and we are starting to see the downward turn in the dollar . What happens if this continues is the ultimate death of this currency not just as the world standard but it could in fact turn the U.S. into a third world country. I understand your logic .... but who do you trust ? The Government that has been lying to you and slowly stealing your rights and liberties and FEMA is just an extension of that entity or you make up your own mind and do it your own way the forests of North America offer an abundance of food if you know where to look not just meat but vegetation as well . if you know what your looking for you can survive and the only other thing you would need in lodging and I have this problem solved as well . Just need candles or material to produce them heat will be all around me just need my axe.

Would a single global currency...based on silver...and issued by non-private central banks...with 0% interest...be a good thing...and actually work? Why not do an end-run around the Banksters, the City of London, the Rothschilds, the Rockefellers, the Federal Reserve, the IMF, (the Reptillians?!), etc? I keep thinking and saying that I am not opposed to globalism and international cooperation. I am opposed to evil, heartless, monopolistic, megalomaniacal crooks! If we reigned these bastards in...they might actually become nice people! We make it way too easy for them to enslave us, and rob us blind!

Sounds like hearsay to me. Does this friend have any proof?

Article with a different slant from 'The New American'.

UN Panel to Say World Should Ditch Dollar

WRITTEN BY CHARLES SCALIGER
FRIDAY, 20 MARCH 2009 00:00

A United Nations panel is about to recommend that the world abandon the dollar as the world’s reserve currency, according to a Reuters report. Next week, the UN will propose that the dollar be replaced with a “shared basket of currencies” similar to the old Ecu (European Currency Unit) of the former European Community (the predecessor to the European Union), which was replaced at parity by the euro in 1999. According to Avinash Persaud, a member of the UN panel, now “is a good moment to move to a shared reserve currency."

Cautioning that such a move might stave off future Chinese efforts to make the yuan the global reserve currency, Persaud opined that the proposed currency basket would take pressure off the dollar and contribute to greater international currency stability.

Given the Ecu/euro historical precedent, it is not too hard to see where all of this is heading: a true international fiat currency, issued independently by the UN, in the not-too-distant future. Indeed, Russia is preparing to propose at the April meeting of the G-20 the creation of a bona fide global currency, to be issued by unspecified “international financial institutions” — presumably the IMF or the Bank of International Settlements.

The formula that led to the successful creation of the European Union — and the consequent dissolution of the independence of EU member states — was that economic union creates momentum for political union. If the unhappy European experience is any guide, the subordination of the dollar and other currencies to a single global currency will have world government as a close sequel.
