It's beautiful and, so are YOU
Dear reader greet the brand new day Look around 'round 'round Look around 'round 'round Dear reader won't you let me see you smile ![]() The sun is up, the sky is blue It's beautiful and so are you. (hehe. any beatles fans out there?) Alright, now for the substance. I've been feeling kind of gloomy for a few days now. Some goofy stuff going on in my life and some goofy stuff going on here as well. Yesterday that changed. In big way. I've had my share of highs and lows over the years, and really though I'm pretty balanced usually. But yesterday something changed. I went to work and saw the huge lines of voters. I admired their hope, but I couldn't share it. I had no confidence in the candidate(s). I knew Barak was a lock last month anyway. And I share the same concerns as many Obama haters(for lack of a better word). I know about the ZB connection. (legit) I know about Michelle's CFR connections. (legit) I know about Obama's status quo foreign policy. (legit) I know that Obama is Cheney's 8th cousin. (legit) (i.e; bloodlines, although no joke, Carlos the Jackal is my brother-in-law's 10th removed cousin, and he's a pretty good guy. ![]() I know about the Larry Sinclair testimony. (suspect) I know about the secrest radical Muslim claims. (false) I know about the Sharia law claims.(false) I know as much as I possibly could about Obama. None of that matters though. What matters is that so many people believe in a better way. They are all hopeful. They may not all be "awake" yet, as many of us put it, but they can be, and they're showing their heart w/ thier vote for Obama. Many will say that it's a cult of personality, and to some extent that may be true, but what I saw last night was people embracing change. They were out in the streets here in StL. They were in their front yards waving signs and cheering. They are hopeful. This election has not yet sold me on Obama, but it has sold me on my fellow human (as I heard from Jenny, something like 85% of the world polled for Obama). The masses are becoming more receptive to real change, and that cannot be bad. I hope they follow through though. I'll do my best. For my part anyway, I have decided to wipe the slate clean, so to speak, for Obama. I am hoping that he is indeed a good man that will stand up to the immense pressures that have undoubtedly already been layed out before him. I hope he was just "playing the game" to get where he is and will now surprise some of us, in a good way. I am not giving him carte blanche by any means. I'll watch as intently as I did w/ Bush, but I'll give him a chance at least. Now I invite you to forget about politicians and look at your nieghbors. They are good people who want what's best for humanity as well as anyone here does. They may not be as vocal as some here, but this election is a mandate for hope imo. The world is happy and hopefull for a moment. So relax and enjoy the joy for awhile. Close your eyes and listen to this melody. Think about how you want the next few months to play out. Focus hard on the positive. It's so very important. I actually heard something fairly profound from Bush earlier. "You are about to go on one of the great journeys of life." I think that may be true for all us very soon. So I'm gonna go have a ride (mt. bike) later, and greet the brand new day. p.s. It was dark when I started writing this thread and now the sun is up and the sky is indeed blue! ![]() Last edited by raulduke; 11-05-2008 at 02:49 PM. Reason: spelling |
