A BBC "Horizon" documentary concerning the discovery of vitrified rock and lumps of unique "naturally found" glass strewn across the northern sahara.The asteroid impact theory is presented here from a scientific viewpoint and various analyses are completed on the glass to reveal the extent in which even a relatively small meteorite could wreak havoc on a highly populated area. It is evident that the ancient Egyptians were all to familiar with this glass as is illustrated by the green glass scarab beetles found in Egypt.
