Okay, what follows are chronologically ordered pictures of having Venus at full zoom (my camera has a built in optical zoom and I added a 1.7 converter lens which brings the optical maximum to 17x, then there is a 120x digital zoom added... so effectively the whole zoom range should be 120x times 17x; but I might be wrong O_o). This was recorded with the best focus I could find (curiously not infinity) and then slowly lowering the exposure (gain will be gone after the first few pictures). Also note that this is an HD camcorder with a resolutions of 1080i. The interlaced pictures become apparent as I'm shooting at 25 frames per second (half of the optimal 50) which will account for some of the artefacts and fragments that occur.
Anyway, here goes: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Please try tilt your displays/adjust your brightness to see the full diamond shape emerge. On a second go with a different focus even better reconstruction of the ominous 'all seeing eye' could be achieved: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Mind that the pictures you see here are also downsized for web. Some bonus pictures of this oddness of a full moon night: ![]() ![]() And Venus in the night sky, incredibly bright: ![]() Last edited by Czymra; 02-10-2009 at 11:02 PM. |

Cool shots! I see you didn't get that same effect that the kid did in the original video, but I think he had a stronger zoom.

Also, the colours are only a matter of what white balance is set. I didn't bother changing as the real colour of an object like that is not determinable by a camera. What should the white balance be set to anyway? The object is probably in broad daylight where (and when) it is seen while the camera is in darkness. |
