Just picking up on what you said there.
I have found the most disarming weapon we have at our disposal is a simple smile. With 99% of the population a smile will do wonders. It is one of the most distracting things you can do to a stranger that is not expecting it.
More so i like to think of it as a universal handshake.

A smile, yes, especially when one smiles with the eyes too. However, here in Toronto smiles don't seem to get me as much mileage...being a seriously good listener seems to be what is most needed and wanted in Toronto.

Great buffet restaurants up here -- nobody is going to starve in Canada!!
