yeah when I was young I hoped democracy worked and that the people in power would care about me and that when you are nice, nice things happen to you and that I would be free and all the rest.

My point is what do you think will happen when you do get the majority that you currently have?

What are you going to do? You haven't thought it through very well and why put two obvious red herrings in the poll and give out when people choose them.

Would this be yet another ill conceived revolution that changes the faces but not the aims to gain power? If you can't take the good with the bad in your campaign what will happen when you get treated the way the current mods are getting treated................would you be able to be fair to me, now that I openly disagree with you, are you sure?

Harper,

I am truly sorry you feel that you live in world where your voice doesn't count. I could not imagine existing thusly, for to do so is to admit defeat, is it not?

Anyway, I think I have fought very well the urge to combat the ridicule and baiting that has surrounded this election, especially from the folks who, obviously, did not read that big steaming post I left toward the end of page three.

Also, you state that I will get the majority, but by my own criteria, that ain't enough. To win, I must get the consent of at least 1/3 of registered Avalonians. A forty percent lead out of sixty some odd votes is not good enough.

One more thing.

I've taken my lumps here from time to time for coming across as hostile - one loving individual refers to me sometimes as the "angrycircus." I actually like that - the power to feel and express passion for things I care a great deal about. But some of the folks who have posted to this thread seem pretty angry too - and while I celebrate their impassioned spirit, I question if I am the rightful primary recipient, or just someone who got in the way. As Ozzy would say, "Lay your world on me, I can take the weight."

Anyway, vote Historycicus - a man too lazy to start or fight any war, but typically too drunk to ever concede defeat!

Oh Historycircus,

You make me smile as a fellow willing to say it anyway in the face of whatever is slung your way.

But what are we on the forum for but to change the fact that our voices have failed to overcome the ruling forces.

People have gotten rights and votes and equality whatever subject you like because it became obvious to the ruling classes that they couldn't any longer hope to get away with it. So from to time they concede and then change the goalposts again and we go on our merry way believing that we stuck one to the man. While they have in fact been sticking it to us in a million other ways. Do you know what I mean.

Like for instance if they had realised it a while ago that to make their slaves comfortable and entertained they actually work harder we might all have had a different history but the outcome would've been the same. I am not downhearted one bit by the whole thing, I know that if each person individually sets about to change their own heart then we can't but win. But this may not look like what anyone thinks, there may not be some 'final showdown' its may just feel like the wind changed and we got some fresh air.

take it easy

No matter how entertained the slaves were, there was always the nascent resentment of reality. This resentment swelled, spread, and creshedoed with war - but slavery was defeated. I see too many people wishing to take the easy way out - to vibrate on to somewhere else - instead of fighting for what is right and good in this reality, this vibration. If it is all a test, I would think that walking out on the exam is not an option.

Thanks for your thoughts, and I meant no disrespect to you earlier.

Peace.

Well I bet we could find at least a few million people over in Asia and Africa who would beg to differ.

America also has 10% of the worlds population, and 90% of its prisoners...
These prisoners work for free and have to do what ever they are told....
They have more slaves now then they have ever had before...

And another thing... America full supports China... and countless other countries who have more than just slavery occuring...

Slavery is not gone... it has just changed into a more acceptable shape.

Here is a quote from Immortal Technique

"Our people are the product of genocide and slavery
Everything in the ghetto was how it was made to be
Designed in a process, Prison Industrial Complex
Niggaz transformed into numbers and objects
We pay the devil rent for living in hell"

As a candidate that respects sovereignty, I would say that it is the people's duty in China and Africa to rise up - not just the slaves themselves, but the communities in which it takes place. The Chinese would argue with you Orion - they see our system as the epitome of slavery. And I think that outright slavery is more noble than what we have here in the U.S. or what exists in China, because at least in an openly slave system the slaves know they are slaves, not taught to believe they are free.

I agree, we have a higher prison population than China and Russia - and eighty percent of our inmates are there for drug "crimes," not violations of personal property or civil rights. However, I've had friends in prison, and there wasn't much work getting done there. They had cable, pool tables, free internet access, free gym facilities, etc. I don't see much prison "slavin" going on outside of our high-rise office buildings, if you catch my drift.

I don't think "America" is unified enough to support anything at this juncture; but I believe you are spot on if we replace "America" with "U.S. foreign policy makers and corporate interests."

Cheers.

And vote!

yep have to agree with orion, there are still chain gangs my friend, the first time I saw prisioners working on roadsides with guns pointed at them I nearly threw up. Then again my favourite was to have them working on a beach. You know I think that might just be the most humiliating thing I ever saw.

They is work, maybe each state is different...............

Yes, yes, the making of liscense plates and all that - we could throw in trash pickup crews too.

My point is that there is far too little of that going on in our prison system - if you kill someone, rape someone, rob them, etc., you should be worked like a dog.

My only regret is that 80% who are caught up in the system, who have no place there. But that is not the prison system's problem, it is a legislative problem. There are states doing it now - 11 state legislatures at the forefront of ending the "War on Drugs/Thought." Visit the NORML website:

http://norml.org/

And then donate a few bucks to them. They actually get people waving signs in the street, and apply pressure to the legislature.

On historycircus's sliding scale of nobility, 0 equalling none and 10 equaling God, I would give honest slavery a .00000002, and hidden slavery a .00000001. How about that?

You respond to an awful lot of my stuff negatively for a guy who doesn't care a lot.

lol
i was just wondering where you were coming from with that.

and just becasue i dont care if your a moderator or not, doesnt mean i dont care about other things.

I would respond the same way to someone else had they said it... even my Father. lol.

it has nothing to do with "you" or "your stuff".

if "god" said something that sounded off, I would question 'it' as well.

its not personal. lol

Peace

You were the one who made: "I don't know" correspond w/ porn for some reason.

I probably would have chosen that one if not for the porn bit, but becaus of the strange options, I had to choose the "I don't care.. shut up."

Maybe these extra bits (porn/shut up) were installed for humour sake, but I think they hurt your cause.

I don't know, cluelessness and porn seem kind of hand-in-glove to me, eh?

Normally, I would say thanks for voting, but since you didn't pick an option that matters, I simply don't feel obligated.

Those who voted "yes" or "no" know exactly what I mean.

Vote HistoryCircus!

I guess I'm a little dense. Could you explain how not having an opinion on your plea to be a mod (cluelessness as you put it), corresponds to porn.
That doesn't really make much sense to me.

Oh no! I guess I fell into your trap where no thank yous can be issued.

Why even have options outside yes or no if you're going to deride those who choose those options (which you provided)?

Do you think they'll be forced to give you the mod status if we all vote for you?

This seems more like a popularity poll than an election to me.

If anything corresponds to porn it would be this election which imo amounts to not much more than masturbation.
