Submitted by Matthew Delooze on 25 January, 2009 - 20:56. . Interview with a Big Man Hello, One Ball Radio has followed Hamish right back to his own pub doorstep in Rigby Road Blackpool. Hamish owns the Del Boys Sports bar and the Crazy/Happy Scots bar. Both bars are located in the same building but they are on different floors. He allowed smoking in Del Boys Sports bar but not in the other one. If you have followed Hamish’s battle, through oneballradio.com, then you will know that he had his pub license revoked by the High Court. We have interviewed him again, after the High Court dust has settled so to speak. Hamish is a tough streetwise Glaswegian from a working class background and he doesn’t suffer fools, but his sense of injustice at the smoking ban is there for all to see. His passion over this matter is entirely based on his love for his customers. I empathise with his comments about the apathy of the people and how easy it was for a bunch of out of touch MPs and Lords to mess with the social lives of the working classes and literally destroy their only pleasures. During my frequent visits to Blackpool last year I spent a few evenings and one or two afternoons in Del Boys Sports (Hic). I witnessed first hand how Hamish’s customers, both locals and holidaymakers, actually enjoying the right to smoke in a pub. They actually smiled. When was the last time you saw someone smiling in a pub? Don’t forget Hamish catered for both smokers and non-smokers in separate bars. Hamish like myself does not smoke. It was reported in mainstream media last week that 37 pubs a week are closing in the UK. Hamish was not only fighting for his customers he was fighting to stay in business too. Please listen to the Hamish interview and see; although Hamish has been battered and closed down, he is still looking to battle on. I ask you to look at the interview in the hope that you (Yes you) can remember when human beings used to stand up against injustice and unfair laws because people like Hamish are few and far between. I’m not saying that non-smokers shouldn’t have non-smoking bars to go in to. I am saying that smokers should be allowed to smoke in a bar that the bar owner says they can smoke in. I am also amazed at seeing all the empty pubs these days that all the non-smokers claimed they would visit if people didn’t smoke in them? What a load of bollocks. I have stated in my news reports before that there is a plan by the Serpent Cult to close at least 75% of working class alehouse type pubs. Pease remember that when you pass a pub that is boarded up in your town. The Serpent Cult does not want people like Hamish using pubs for political and moral debate. The Serpent Cult does not want the peasants talking at all. They want us at home watching the soaps and living through on line shopping from Tesco and eBay. The only pubs that will be left standing are the plastic chain pubs like Wetherspoons that are selling two plastic meals for a tenner and a plastic pint of ***** for a quid. The masses will be taking so much ***** into their bodies by eating and drinking in these places that it will be far more healthier to smoke 40 cigs a day. Is that the only future for the people as far as pubs go? A night out in a Wetherspoons pub is the future for me then eh? Will it be a plate of chipboard sausage and instant mash and a pint of smooth (fake) ale for my missus and me? At least I won’t smell tobacco smoke when my nostrils are full of the stench of apathy created by the British public? Maybe I am being unfair? I suppose that kind of Wetherspoon social life is OK for some but I have to say it doesn’t seem to gel with the hairy arsed welders and other factory workers I used to sup with. Those are the sorts of chaps that went in bars like Hamish runs and workingmen’s clubs. They pretend they are tough and will not be walked over by silly rules. I am sorry to say that all I see in working class pubs and clubs are weak beaten souls, a bunch of fairies. That said they still were/are grafters and/or oppressed workers who once used pubs for many years to chill out, to have to a drink and a smoke in but it is now a crime eh? Those people only want an alehouse and a place to smoke in, bloody hell is it too much to ask? The subject of ‘health’ does not arise to me when the PTB voted for every pub to be smoke free to protect the innocent also voted to bomb the **** out of the innocent in phony wars. Anyway I have ranted enough! We make the beds we have to lie in. Maybe I’m just a silly old fart trying to live in the past. Maybe I was seriously deluded thinking the members of working means clubs, the miners, the electricians, the engineers used have souls and guts. I’m sorry to say that the majority of the British working public, in my opinion anyway, sold their souls along with their courage a long time ago, albeit through Serpent Cult controlled unions and Governments. I hope they got a decent price for them. If anyone wants to support Hamish his website is here. Oneballradio will obviously try to give Hamish a voice in the future. To the pub Landlords, and Stewards in the Workingmen’s clubs, I suggest, if your pub is going to the wall because you cannot cater for or supply a room for smokers then I suggest you get together and try and get some guts from somewhere. The dole queue is now full of landlords and stewards that did bugger all. Please Click on video below to hear Hamish. Thank You Mathew Delooze video interview with Matt. delooze and Hamish on link. |
