GM ‘Likely’ to Build in China as U.S. Factories Close
Quote:
By Stephanie Wong April 20 (Bloomberg) -- General Motors Corp., shutting U.S. plants in a bid to avoid bankruptcy, is “likely” to build a new factory in China on surging demand. “Operations in China are profitable and in the future China can finance its own growth,” Nick Reilly, the company’s Asia-Pacific president, said at the Shanghai auto show today. He didn’t give a timeframe for the new plant. GM, the biggest overseas automaker in China, boosted sales in the country 38 percent last month as government stimulus measures spurred demand for its minivans. By contrast, the company’s U.S. sales slumped 45 percent on the recession, as it battles to convince the U.S. government that it’s still viable. Well, they're dropping the Pontiac brand and will be getting rid of Saturn, Saab and Hummer as well. They should have done that years ago though. The people running the auto companies were too busy stuffing their pockets with cash to care.

I'd buy a Pontiac over Buick and Cadillac any day.

LOL, I found it on yahoo by searching....funny chinese car pictures,
under the picture it said this........... Read an article about this car company. I hear you can take the door off the Chevy's and bolt them directly onto the Chery and it will fit perfect. Pretty funny, they couldn't even be bothered to change the entire name, just one letter. So I don't know if it's a real car company or not, it appears to be! |

Under Restructuring, GM To Build More Cars Overseas
By Peter Whoriskey Washington Post Staff Writer Friday, May 8, 2009 Excerpt: Quote:
According to an outline the company has been sharing privately with Washington legislators, the number of cars that GM sells in the United States and builds in Mexico, China and South Korea will roughly double. The proportion of GM cars sold domestically and manufactured in those low-wage countries will rise from 15 percent to 23 percent over the next five years, according to the figures contained in a 12-page presentation offered to lawmakers in response to their questions about overseas production. If this comes to pass and they have only jobs oversea`s they had better have an economical efficient vehicle that is in demand cause if not the memory of what they did to the North American jobs they discarded will not be forgotten . By former workers or the general public. I would never by GM and tell every one I know not to
