(Couldn't resist altering the word 'leaders' in this article title. )

The Guardian has been passed a draft of the communique that is due to be issued by world leaders at the Major Economies Forum later today. You can read it below

We, the leaders of Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, the European Union, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States met as the Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate in L'Aquila, Italy, on July 9, 2009, and declare as follows:

I couldn't much stomach this article title the other day either.

Growing fears that the global economy could sink back into recession after a brief rally dominated the agenda as the leaders of the G8 nations gathered in Italy for their annual summit today.

Gordon Brown arrived in L'Aquila, in the region devastated by an earthquake in April, urging fellow world leaders to avoid complacency about the prospects for growth, jobs and investment.

The prime minister's comments came amid recent downbeat data which has dampened hopes of rapid recovery.
