Re: Israel vs Palestine/Lebanon/Iran/Yemen/Syria: a New Middle East War
"Untreatable infection"? This brings to mind the fact that during the recent covid scamdemic, the Isreali population was the most coerced in the world for the covid jab. If I recall correctly, every Isreali had to take 4 covid jabs, at least. And by now we know that the covid jab impairs the immune system. So, it's not surprising to hear that Isrealis are coming down with "untreatable infections".
On the other hand, the Palestinians received little of the covid jabs. Having lived for years in crowded situations, they've probably honed their collective immune system to a high degree. Perhaps this Isreali retired general who claims the 'treatment resistant' bug will 'bring victory closer' needs to think twice.

80 days of heavy Israeli bombing have devastated the health system.
This level of horror is unmatched in our lifetime.

We can't know 100% for sure whether or not this is true. But the very terrible thing is that it easily could be.
There's a 1:52 video at the link, with a warning about distressing images. All the witnesses seems credible.Civilians sheltering inside a Gaza school killed execution-style
"They were all killed, executed at gunpoint.” In exclusive testimonies obtained by Al Jazeera, witnesses describe the horrific sights they encountered inside a school in northern Gaza following an Israeli attack.

Exactly 15 years ago today, I witnessed the first massacre of Israel's 2008-2009 Gaza assault. Under this smoke, more than 140 Gaza police cadets lost were killed by Israel's bombs while attending their graduation ceremony. I was just about to leave my college's building when the F-16s launched the first attack of the war. The building shook, and the glass shattered, raining down upon us. Looking back to that day 15 years ago, I can't help but think of my younger siblings, who you can see in these photos. These kids witnessed the harshest moments of Israel's relentless aggressions against Gaza. In one of the pictures, my younger brother stands near the rubble of what used to be Al-Shifa Mosque, a small mosque right across from Al-Shifa Hospital, which has always been an obsession for Israel. Over these past 15 years, my siblings have lived through wars in 2008-2009, 2012, 2014, 2021, and now this ongoing genocide. Their entire lives have been filled with nothing but war, blockades, and isolation.

The speech exposes Western complicity in the genocide of Palestinians, and the last paragraph of the speech explains how international law and the order based on international rules are disintegrating, with the support of the same global powers that promote their values and claim to defend them, and that the American-backed global order will not be able to recover from the blow that toppled... His credibility as a result of his complicity.

The USA, the same country that brought to the world the horrors of Abu Ghraib, is arming Israel to torture Palestinians in dungeons as horrifying as the ones Iraqis were tortured in under the US occupation, while preaching to the world about human rights and a rules-based order

Yes, because there is obviously a pattern.
It happens to have reached the extreme point which is like a cadet branch of the US Air Force being used, at least physically, just like Operation Condor in Spain 1936, the experimental beginnings of this practice. In turn the result was that Hitler kept what he called "terrorist bombing" (i. e. of civilians) in London on a short leash, subject to his personal command. As we see, such bombings have been pursued by other countries, usually against someone without equal defense.
And yet we see the entity trying to offer temporary cease-fire terms.
Again there is a reminder of the necessary conditions.
Concerning the power outage, it may be a retaliation. Iran has just experienced a cyber-attack that switched off their power for twelve or fifteen hours and they fixed it.
Exactly what it means to return the favor about more assassinations in Syria, we do not know.
My guess would be the Israeli infrastructure is a big soft underbelly.
Therefor, sabotage may rise in order of likelihood.
Or, it could just be some routine maintenance...minor inconvenience.
One also notices the damage to the ship in India and this makes multiple attempts that the US blamed on Iran but nobody claimed responsibility. Most of the time, these groups say what they did, and it is hard to place a limit on who could get an armed drone these days.
Re: Israel vs Palestine/Lebanon/Iran/Yemen/Syria: a New Middle East War
New just now on The Moon of Alabama:
Biden Needs to come to Israel's - and his own - Rescue
For now Israel seems to lose its war against the Palestinian resistance.
The October 7 attempt to gain hostages by Hamas and Islamic Jihad was successful. Israeli outrage about it should have been directed against the Israeli government and its army for their chaotic response. They likely killed more Israelis than Hamas did.
But outrage was instead instigated against the external enemy. In this case all Palestinians.
A united Israel urged its government to wage revenge. The government's announced aim is to remove Hamas. That however is impossible to do to a social movement with deep roots in its society. The real aim is to remove all Palestinians from Gaza, to either kill them or to dump them in some foreign land. This would be followed by an attempt to remove all Palestinians from the West Bank before capturing and annexing the south of Lebanon.
However no foreign country is likely to support such a genocide and to take up the burden of millions of unruly refugees.
The Israeli government still wants to satisfy its people but has no way to achieve that.
Meanwhile the resistance against Israel, which has been built by Iran over several decades, is increasing its response. It aims to press Israel into conceding defeat and to liberate the Palestinians from their Zionist occupiers.
Changing a society's mind requires a slow and long response. In the north Hezbullah is slowly escalating its tit-for tat war with the Israeli army. Some 100,000 Israeli civilians have fled from the border zone. The Ansar Islam movement in Yemen has blocked maritime traffic to Israel's Eilat port. The U.S. attempt to counter that has failed:Despite the US calling the Red Sea tensions "an international challenge" requiring a united response, the initial coalition support was limited, with only 10 nations, including Bahrain as the sole Arab state. The Pentagon later announced that 20 countries had joined the coalition, with Greece and Australia among the new members. In a setback to the US, France, Spain, and Italy have declined their participation in the alliance.
Local resistances in Iraq and Syria are attacking U.S. troops deployed in those countries. As long as its troops are there the U.S. can to nothing to prevent that.
There are also threats to Israel's Mediterranean coast line. Hezbollah has the ability to close down Haifa and and other Israeli ports. Missiles, cruise missiles and drones from Gaza, from Lebanon, Yemen and from resistance fighters in Iraq and Syria continue to target Israel day by day.
With more than 350,000 Israeli troops mobilized and Palestinian workers from the West Bank banned, Israel's economy is, for lack of workers, in deep trouble.
Its military forays into Palestinian cities in Gaza have so far achieved little results but incurred significant losses. All the army can do is to destroy those cities block by block. But Hamas continues to fight back, even in rubble.
The current plan is to make Palestinian life in Gaza so miserable that leaving it will be for them the only alternative to certain death. But leaving whereto when no one wants to take them?
That is a question Israel and its U.S. backers fail to answer.
With the war going into a prolonged, unsustainable phase the Israeli government needs to do something else, or fail.
It plans to open a new front in Lebanon against Hezbollah. But a repeat of the 2006 war, which Israel lost, can not be risked. To fight Hezbollah on the ground Israel needs active U.S. backing, not only by U.S. delivery of weapons, but by U.S. forces on the ground.
A new U.S. war in the Middle East against a well prepared enemy is the last thing President Biden needs for his re-election campaign.
Pictures of Israeli settlers and their army raiding Ramallah to steal money from Palestinian money exchanges also lead to more negative voter responses.
Hamas says it can fight the war for several months.
Biden needs to shut the war down.
Either he does that now or his chances of a reelection will decrease even further.

Euro-Med Monitor: Nearly 30,000 Palestinians killed in 82 days of Israeli genocide in Gaza
Geneva (Quds News Network) – The death toll of Israel’s ongoing genocide of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip has climbed to approximately 30,000 victims, according to the latest reports released by Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor.
As of 26 December, 29,124 Palestinians had been killed, the human rights organisation said. The majority of those killed in the Israeli air and artillery attacks on the Gaza Strip were civilians, including 11,422 children, 5,822 women, 481 health personnel, and 101 journalists.
Meanwhile, 56,122 Palestinians have been injured, with hundreds of them being critically wounded, said Euro-Med Monitor. This number includes thousands of victims who are still stuck under the rubble of buildings, while hundreds more remain uncounted for, but are likely either trapped under rubble or injured in the streets.
Euro-Med Monitor estimates also indicate that there are more than 1.920 million displaced people in the Gaza Strip who remain without a safe shelter amid inhumane conditions.
According to the rights group, 65,600 housing units have been completely destroyed by the ongoing Israeli attacks, while 177,200 others have been partially damaged.
Israel has also continued to inflict massive destruction and severe damage to vital infrastructure facilities in the Gaza Strip, targeting 305 schools, 1,541 industrial facilities, and 135 health facilities, including 23 hospitals, 56 clinics, 55 ambulances, 183 mosques, and 3 churches, in addition to 165 press offices.
Israel is stepping up its genocide war on Gazan civilians in an effort to intensify its enforced displacement policy, which is in violation of international laws, Euro-Med Monitor warned.
Israel has deliberately targeted civilian infrastructure in order to cause as many casualties, material losses, and destruction as possible, according to the Geneva-based organisation, as a form of retaliation and collective punishment. This is against international humanitarian law and the 1949 Geneva Convention, and amounts to war crimes according to the Rome Statute, which governs the International Criminal Court.
Israel has flagrantly broken the terms of international humanitarian law, which forbids property damage as a “preventive means” and property destruction as a means of deterrence, even for military purposes.
Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor urged the International Committee of the Red Cross and the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention to pressure Israeli authorities to reveal the fate of all detainees from the Gaza Strip, release every arrested civilian, and investigate the horrific violations that these detained civilians are being subjected to.
