As you may already be aware, the Project Avalon Forum has a reputation among many for being one of the highest quality forums on the internet. It's more than a virtual community of friends; it's also a kind of open-source, online university containing over a thousand active members, many of whom are remarkable people.

We have scientists, authors, ex-military officers, teachers, lecturers, researchers, therapists, abductees, engineers, experiencers, psychics, visionaries, artists, musicians, and many plain and simple lovely, spiritual people — from all walks of life and from all over the world, with varied life experiences. They are united in their commitment (a) to personal learning and growth, and (b) to helping make the world a better place.

The members make the forum, and the detailed membership application process below is one of the ways in which the high quality of the membership is maintained. Please complete the application in your own (human, not AI) words.

The reason we ask for so much personal information is simply to get an idea of who you are, what your values and interests are, and what you stand for. The information is never shared publicly, and is only used by the moderators of the forum to make a decision about whether to invite you to join.

As a result of your application (which may have several days to process, as the moderators will all read what you've written and discuss it with one other), we'll write back to you with one of three responses:

— We may invite you to the forum.
— We may let you know that you've not give us enough information to enable us to make a decision, in which case we'll invite you to say more.
— We may let you know that on the basis of what you have shared with us, we don't feel that we can invite you to be a member at this time.

IMPORTANT NOTE: We will definitely get back to you, usually within 1-4 days (but very occasionally, this may take longer). If our reply isn't in your inbox, PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM FOLDER. We never decline an application by not replying. If you can't find our response, you're always welcome to write to staff@projectavalon.net, or use the forum contact form, to ask us what's happened.

So: please see this from our point of view. We welcome your interest, but we know nothing about you. Therefore the only way we can get to know you at this early stage is by what you write below. We thank you for this, and we look forward to reading your application.

The most important thing we can say is that we fully understand concerns about privacy, especially in these times.

We never EVER sell mailing lists, and everything you share with us is totally 100% private. The only reason we have an application form at all is to ensure that the quality of the forum’s community is maintained — no-one can ‘buy’ their way in, as with paywall-protected sites — and we've found over the years that this process really does a good job in keeping out the trolls, agents, bots, and others who may be hostile to our values.

Project Avalon was founded in 2008. Its moderated forum at projectavalon.net focuses on information and inspiration supporting humanity's future, and on practical solutions.

In short: be respectful, be genuine, and post with your fellow members in mind.

--- Membership ---

  • You must be accepted as a member to post here.
  • Membership is a privilege, not a right. The administration may deny or remove access to anyone, as it sees fit, to preserve the security and integrity of the community.
  • One account, one person. Each active account has one person behind it, and each member has only one active account.
  • Members are welcome to contact the moderators and administrators with questions and concerns.

--- How We Treat Each Other ---

  • Treat other members with respect. Disagree with ideas, not people.
  • Personal attacks and threats, whether in posts or private messages, are prohibited.
  • Private messages may not be posted publicly without the sender's permission.
  • Do not use email addresses acquired on the forum to send members unwanted email.
  • Members who are disrespectful of others, or who otherwise harm or abuse the forum, may be warned or unsubscribed.
  • If a post or private message concerns you, report it using the link at the bottom of the post or message. It will be sent to the moderators for their consideration.
--- What Not to Post ---
  • Content, in posts, avatars, or private messages, that promotes illegal drugs, pornography (including nude art), foul language, racial / sexual / national intolerance, hate speech, or politically subversive acts or planning.
  • Threads relating to suicide, for reasons of legal liability. If you are feeling suicidal, please immediately call your local suicide hotline or a trained professional.
  • Links to illegally shared downloadable copyright material.
  • Self-promotion. Members who insist on showcasing themselves, their websites, products, or services may be warned or unsubscribed. Signature links may not point to sites that sell products or services.
  • Workarounds for the word censor. It replaces a few well-known cuss words with asterisks; please leave it be.
--- How to Post ---
  • Share outside material as a link plus a summary paragraph: a few sentences in your own words, or a short excerpt. Tell the reader where the link goes. Do not post "naked" links (a URL with no explanation), and do not paste in long passages (more than a few short paragraphs) of outside text.
  • Trim quoted text when replying. Quote only what is needed for context. It takes a little extra effort, but it is a courtesy to other readers.
  • Go easy on bold, large text, and other dramatic formatting or phrasing.
  • Do not remove or obfuscate large numbers of your old posts, except for personal safety or similar reasons. Staff may restore such posts.
--- Your Content and Your Privacy ---
  • You retain ownership of what you post. By posting, you grant us a non-exclusive right to copy, display, store, distribute, and otherwise use that content in operating this forum. We may edit, hide, or remove content when we consider it necessary.
  • We log the IP addresses of forum traffic to help protect the forum from malicious activity.
