The docu - drama starts at what some consider the beginning of reporting of the
phenomenon , certainly the coining of the term 'Fly - Saucers'. Though we now
know there were incidents predating it and infact throughout known human history.
It is very interesting for it gives you an idea of what was happening back then.
Though it predates by a couple of years it follows hot on the heels of the 1958 UFO
radio show with Arthur C Clark I posted recently , and is opening the veil of
mystique that comes with time and shows they were asking the same questions
back then as we are today. This is an historical piece of information and should be
seen as part of the overall disclosure picture imo.

June 24, 1947, when Kenneth Arnold spotted nine mysterious, high-speed
objects “flying like a saucer would” along the crest of the Cascade Range near
Mount Rainier. His report made international headlines and triggered hundreds of

This is the most substantial UFO documentary ever made that portrays the events of
the first UFO sightings. It even features some of the best UFO footage ever captured.

The UFO footage features UFOs flying at incredible speed in formation and even circling

In 1952 Hollywood producer Clarence Greene saw an unusual object twisting in the sky.
He decided to report the sighting, and contacted US Air Force public information officer
Albert M. Chop, who was in charge of answering UFO questions from reporters and the
public. Intrigued by his experience, Greene decided to film a documentary movie about
the UFO phenomenon. When Chop told Greene about the existence of video footage of
UFOs, Greene obtained the footage for analysis and display in his documentary.


The documentary starts in 1947, with the first widely-publicized UFO sightings in the
United States, including recreations of the Kenneth Arnold UFO sighting, the Mantell
UFO incident, and the Gorman Dogfight. It then traces the development of UFOs as both
a popular fad and a serious concern for the US Air Force. The history of Project Sign, the
first Air Force study of the UFO phenomenon, is discussed. The documentary then
focuses upon Albert M. Chop and his growing involvement with UFOs. Chop is assigned
as the public information officer at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, in
the late 1940s. In that position he is required to answer numerous news media queries
about UFO sightings and what the Air Force knows about them. Although he is initially
portrayed as a UFO debunker, Chop gradually changes his views as the movie
progresses, and he comes to believe that UFOs are unknown, and possibly
extraterrestrial, aircraft. By 1952 Chop has moved to Washington, DC, where he is the
press spokesman for Project Blue Book. The documentary analyzes two famous pieces
of UFO footage: the Mariana UFO Incident of 1950, in which the manager of the Great
Falls, Montana minor-league baseball team claimed to have filmed two UFOs flying over
the baseball stadium, and the 1952 UFO film taken near the Great Salt Lake in Utah by
a US Navy photographer, Delbert Newhouse. The documentary concludes with the
famous 1952 Washington DC UFO incident, in which Albert Chop played a central role.
The documentary recreates Chop's experiences during the incident, and at the end of
the documentary Chop states his belief that UFOs are a "real", physical phenomenon of
unknown origin

Digging Deeper

Digging deeper, we find another well documented close encounter, this time of the
deadly kind.Captain Tom Mantell flying his P-51 Mustang was a World War II veteran,
not a civilian or some rookie. Mantell and 3 other Mustang pilots were directed to
intercept a huge round white object, perhaps a football field across! Multiple witnesses
from spots in Ohio and Kentucky, including a sergeant at the Fort Knox control tower
and members of the Kentucky Highway Patrol, had reported the sighting to military air control.

When the others fighter planes turned away from the pursuit due to low fuel or low
oxygen (needed for altitudes over 20,000 feet), Mantell continued to climb after the
object, describing it as of tremendous size. (Air traffic controllers who heard him are in
disagreement about his actual wording.)Mantell’s fighter then began an uncontrolled
spin all the way back to the ground where it crashed, killing the pilot. The most likely
reason for the crash is that Mantell passed out from lack of oxygen, but nobody knows
for sure.

Since this incident was witnessed by so many credible people, including military pilots,
military personnel on the ground and Highway Patrol personnel and since it ultimately
resulted in the loss of a fighter plane and its pilot, this encounter changed the public’s
perception of UFO reports. It was far from being an isolated report from a shady
source, and the shocked public was forced to take it seriously as a result. From that
point on, the public has keenly followed every report of a UFO or other alien encounter.

Numerous associations, clubs and individuals catalog and report on every incident they
come across, from what allegedly occurred at Rendlesham Forest in 1980 to the alleged
UFO sightings in New York City in 2010. Collectively, these incidents continue to
provide a rich source of stories for enthusiasts. This is all largely possibly due to this
early incident with the P-51 Mustang. Even the forerunners to Project Blue Book were
Incepted around this same time.

Aprox 1 min in above report Gen Sandford says " In pursuit of this obligation since
1947 we have received and analysed between 1 - 2,000 reports ....."

Although Roswell is not mentioned , the year is very significant in UFO lore, and in
the docu - drama Gen Remy is briefly mentioned , he did have a major role in
burying the Roswell incident after the initial press release. It is possible that this
movie was seen as a diversion from the more important incidents at the time , so
may of unwittingly been helpful in the overall cover up ?? ( Just speculating )

Major Keyhole says in anwer to a question. " We expect to have a base on the

Thanks I2prideaux interesting segment , Its very probable human Atomic & nuclear
activity has worried some ET's or interdimensionals into monitoring and maybe
interfering with missile sites etc which have been reported. This led me to look for
the full doc from 1977 , the parts should run insequence....

The Flying Saucers are Real is a book that investigates numerous encounters between
USAF fighters, personnel, and other aircraft, and UFOs between 1947 and 1950. Keyhoe
contended that the Air Force was actively investigating these cases of close encounter,
with a policy of concealing their existence from the public until 1949. He stated that this
policy was then replaced by one of cautious, progressive revelation. Keyhoe further stated
that Earth had been visited by extraterrestrials for two centuries, with the frequency of
these visits increasing sharply after the first atomic weapon test in 1945. Citing anecdotal
evidence, he intimated the Air Force may have attained and adapted some aspect of the
alien technology: its method of propulsion and perhaps its source of power. He believed
the Air Force or the US Government would eventually reveal these technologies to the
public when the Soviet Union was no longer a threat. Donald E. Keyhoe, who relates here
his investigation of the flying saucers, writes with twenty-five years of experience in
observing aeronautical developments. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy at
Annapolis. He flew in active service with the Marine Corps, managed the tour of the historic
plane in which Bennett and Byrd made their North Pole flight, was aide to Charles Lindbergh
after the famous Paris flight, and was chief of information for the Aeronautics Branch,

Brigadier General Lovekin entered the military in 1958. In 1959 he joined the
White House Army Signaling Agency and served under President Eisenhower
and then under President Kennedy with an above top secret clearance. He was
familiar with Project Blue Book and related how that project documented highly
scientific and specific UFO cases from very reliable sources. They reviewed
photos taken from Air Force pilots, Marine Air Corps pilots and some foreign
pilots and multiple reports of radar lock-ons. He was also shown a piece of
metallic debris taken from the Roswell crash. While working under President
Eisenhower, he discovered that Eisenhower had a keen interest in UFO's, but
that Eisenhower came to realize that he had lost control of the subject.
