The problem is extremists on both sides are trying to pour more gasoline on the flames, by calling for large actions and killing kids or enrollling them.The destruction is incredible, and will require numerous years to be rebuilt. Gaza will, however, recover from its ruins, no doubt about it. The question is whether there is a chance for Israeli society to recover some sanity, or must one instead reach the conclusion that the Gaza madness syndrome has become an irreversible and structural deformation?

Let's hope civil society can grow closer together as a result of this.

on the cruise ship one family we met was Palestinian Christians, they say the whole state is a failure with both sides to blame.

at least with Israel in charge beheadings and hangings aren't happening daily. if it wasn't a Jewish state it would be an Islamic state twice as bad as Iran. as a Jewish state run on fear it is terrible, but the only solution that would work would be making it a Christian state forcing both sides to accept equality as the norm.
