A dispatch sent by Iraqi officials and obtained by AP shows that Baghdad warned members of the US-led coalition battling ISIS of imminent attacks by the group just one day before the Paris terror attacks killed 129 people and wounded 352 others.
Iraqi intelligence sent a dispatch saying that Islamic State (formerly ISIS/ISIL) leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi had ordered an attack on coalition countries fighting against the group in Iraq and Syria, as well as on Iran and Russia, through bombings or other attacks, according to the message.

"We have recovered information from our direct sources in the Islamic State terrorist organization about the orders issued by terrorist 'Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi' directing all members of the organization to implement an international attack that includes all coalition countries, in addition to Iran and the Russian Federation, through bombings or assassinations or hostage taking in the coming days. We do not have information on the date and place for implementing these terrorist operations at this time," the dispatch read.

Speaking anonymously to AP, six senior Iraqi officials confirmed the information in the message, and four of those officials said they specifically warned France of a possible attack. Two officials told AP that France was warned beforehand of further details that the country's authorities have not made public.

The officials said the Paris attacks appear to have been planned in Raqqa, Syria – ISIS's de-facto capital – where the attackers planned specifically for the operation. After their training, the attackers traveled to France where they met with members of a sleeper cell who helped them carry out the deadly attacks. A total of 24 people were reportedly involved in the operation: 19 attackers and five others in charge of planning and logistics.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari also told journalists on Sunday that Iraqi intelligence agencies had obtained information that some countries, including France, the US, and Iran, would be targeted, and had shared intelligence with those countries.

But a French security official told AP that Paris receives such communication “all the time” and “every day.” He added that the head of French counterintelligence goes to bed every night asking, “Why not today?”

The French president’s office did not comment to the news agency.

Meanwhile, a senior US official said he was not aware of any threat information sent to Western governments that was specific enough to have protected against the Paris attacks. He said, however, that Western governments have expressed concern for months about ISIS-inspired attacks by militants who fought in Syria.

Baghdad has been sharing intelligence with coalition nations since they launched their airstrike campaign against ISIS last year. The US-led coalition is operating in Iraq and Syria, providing aerial support to allied ground forces in both countries, as well as arming and training Iraqi forces.

ISIS claimed responsibility Saturday for the Paris attacks, which included gun and bomb attacks on a stadium, a concert hall and cafes. Seven of the attackers blew themselves up, and French authorities have been searching for accomplices.

The assaults come 10 months after Islamic extremists attacked the offices of satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo and a Jewish supermarket in Paris. France's prime minister cited “failings” in intelligence at the time.

I agree with you Araucaria, having a drill in the morning versus a simultaneaous drill to the event is not the same.

There was such a drill in Montréal one month ago, and I was wondering what would happen. When there was a killing in smaller cities in the USA, with lone "crazy" gunners (not Sandy Hook but the other places), there had been a drill in the previous month. So i was wondering if anything would happen here. And nothing yet happened.

When it is a larger city, drills seem to be simultaneous. This one is not.

But I still think we must look for the fishy aspects, mostly when I read about the Spie agencies meeting few days ago.

Did anyone else who saw Scott Pelley's 60 Minutes interview with a "witness" of one of the Paris attacks get the strong feeling that the witness' statements were scripted?

Excuse me if this has already been covered as I have not gone through all of the comments in this thread, but I'd like to hear other opinions on this guy's story.

I won't go into all the red flags this "witness" raised for me (or the lack of good journalistic questioning by Mr. Pelley), but a couple of quick observations that I had were that this "witness" described what he saw in very precise detail for someone just walking down the street and witnessing a horrific event as the scene unfolded (as if he was reading from a script). And he said that he and a friend went into the cafe moments after the gunman left (ostensibly to help anyone in need), but, as he took a few moments to muster some tears (which appeared totally contrived to me), he said that he noticed a paramedic administering an oxygen mask to one of the fallen victims. My question is: if this witness went into the cafe just moments after the attack happened, how did a paramedic arrive on scene and start administering help (to at least one victim) before the "witness" did who was on scene as it happened?

There are several other problems I had with this interview, but I'd like to hear other thoughts from those who watched it. The interview in question starts around the 3 minute mark in the link above.

The problem with this is al -Baghdadi is speculated as having Israeli /CIA connections
( also he was reported as being killed again recently ) This would tie in with the controllers
changing plans as events change with Russian intervention . The attack on Paris would
let all the players get over the current impass , and the confrontation in Syria between
the various factions that have got a bit crowded. The attack has already got Putin &
Obama talking co - operation at the G20 talks. This may of been the plan ? There are
different levels of power as we speculate on here all the time. So it makes sense to me
to get rid of Al Qaeda , Isil , Isis , and start again with another proxy group...

Militarily there is no reason for any of these ' random terror attacks ' on civilian
targets. The only result of doing this is to galvanise the opposition ,to fight harder
against you. Which is why these terrorists are either really stupid ? or they are
manipulated ? or more likely controlled by foreign agencies ? Especially if you have
bases and targets of your own for the French to bomb.

Terrorism is usually on a relatively smaller scale and they usually want to
get away and hide where its hard to find them like the IRA , UDF and multi
other groups over the years. Suicide , pipe & car bombers have become

It is only when intel groups set up Al Qaeda , a data base of various groups
of freedom fighters and mercenaries to move around Afghanistan , Bosnia,

President Vladimir Putin says he’s shared Russian intelligence data on Islamic State financing with his G20 colleagues: the terrorists appear to be financed from 40 countries, including some G20 member states.

During the summit, “I provided examples based on our data on the financing of different Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) units by private individuals. This money, as we have established, comes from 40 countries and, there are some of the G20 members among them,” Putin told the journalists.

Putin also spoke of the urgent need to curb the illegal oil trade by IS.

"I’ve shown our colleagues photos taken from space and from aircraft which clearly demonstrate the scale of the illegal trade in oil and petroleum products," he said.

“The motorcade of refueling vehicles stretched for dozens of kilometers, so that from a height of 4,000 to 5,000 meters they stretch beyond the horizon," Putin added, comparing the convoy to gas and oil pipeline systems.

It’s not the right time to try and figure out which country is more and which is less effective in the battle with Islamic State, as now a united international effort is needed against the terrorist group, Putin said.

Putin reiterated Russia’s readiness to support armed opposition in Syria in its efforts to fight Islamic State.

"Some armed opposition groups consider it possible to begin active operations against IS with Russia's support. And we are ready to provide such support from the air. If it happens it could become a good basis for the subsequent work on a political settlement,” he said.

“We really need support from the US, European nations, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Iran,” the president added.

I agree, i read Jim Stone article, and the minimum should have been having people's recording coming out, which is not happening. This is surprising, because in a show like this, there is always people recording something. There should have been cell phone recordings. At a minimum. And how come there is no one with the dead, bent over their body crying?

We need to get to the bottom of this once and for all!!

Does anyone have any information/dialog coming from these terrorist groups? I seem to always be having a hard time finding anything coming directly from them. I’m very interested in hearing their reasoning. All I can find is claims from government officials and news outlets.

It’s very important to hear from all sides when tragedies like this happen. I don’t believe in the American policy of not giving “terrorists” a forum to speak. Why would you not want people who are capable of causing such harm and pain to explain their reasons for doing this?

I just can’t think of a logical reason for these happenings…other than to cause discord, but how does these terrorists benefit from that? We can easily see how certain governments will benefit from it. America is filled with people from all over the world and the excuse that “they just hate us” doesn’t bold well…it makes little sense. There are shop owners in my neighborhood that go back and forth to the middle East (Israel, Pakistan, Iraq, Egypt) all the time and their stories always seems to vary from what the Teli/news channel say. I reside in NYC, and calling this place the “world’s grand central station” is an understatement. No need to negotiate with terrorists but that shouldn’t mean that we shouldn’t hear them out. I want to know “why”… What’s to hide?
