The original Star Trek series debuted in 1966

A new Star Trek television series will launch in January 2017, CBS has announced.
According to the show's website, it "will introduce new characters seeking imaginative
new worlds and new civilizations".The hugely successful show franchise celebrates
its 50th anniversary in 2016. "There is no better time to give Star Trek fans a new
series," said David Stapf, president of CBS TV studios.

Alex Kurtzman, who co-wrote and produced the blockbuster films Star Trek (2009)
and Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) will serve as executive producer for the series.
"Everyone here has great respect for this franchise and we're excited to launch its
next television chapter in the creative mind and skilled hands of Alex Kurtzman,
someone who knows this world and its audience intimately," added Stapf.

The series will begin with a special preview broadcast on the CBS Television Network
before running exclusively on CBS All Access, the network's digital subscription video
on demand and live streaming service.

It is also expected to be distributed around the world by CBS Studios International.
The original Star Trek spawned a dozen feature films and five television series, and
is still licensed on platforms across over 190 countries. According to StarTrek.com
the franchise still generates more than a billion social media impressions every month.

The new series is not related to the upcoming feature film Star Trek Beyond, to
    be released in summer 2016.

Here is a silent film made in 1927 called Metropolis. This film has been condensed and set with music that is amazing. This is one of the classic films

Metropolis is surely one of the greatest films ever made. Its scope, its reach, its magnitude and its message are truly incredible even by today’s standards of film-making. For those who don’t want to set through the whole two hour film, PTA Blues presents a condensed version with the dialog removed and synced to the music of Vangelis, Kitaro, and others. Our version is not meant to be better than the original but made in the hope that the viewers interest will compel him to see the complete original Fritz Lang masterpiece.
Sometime in the future, the city of Metropolis is home to a Utopian society where its wealthy residents live a carefree life. One of those is Freder Fredersen. One day, he spots a beautiful woman with a group of children, she and the children who quickly disappear. Trying to follow her, he, oblivious to such, is horrified to find an underground world of workers, apparently who run the machinery which keeps the above ground Utopian world functioning. One of the few people above ground who knows about the world below is Freder’s father, Joh Fredersen, who is the founder and master of Metropolis.

I loved this movie when I first saw it. It predates many later Sci Fi film elements. "In a future where all flora is extinct on Earth, an astronaut is given orders to destroy the last of Earth's botany, kept in a greenhouse aboard a spacecraft.(IMDB)"

I found the whole movie here...

Here's a Hallmark Movie that garnered two Golden Globe and two Emmy awards. It is a true story. I watched it over and over, and when I owned technology, I copied it and sent copies to all my grown children. I can be a tad slow on the uptake - it was about a decade later I learned that a number of my family knew the lady this story is about - Comtesse de Milleville, or Mary Lindell.

I have no clue how to find a copy for you - I'd love to see it again myself - but here's the opening scene. Each time I see the actual footage of Germans marching through the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, and I see the Frenchman crying, I feel his pain deeply.

This different trailer for "One Against the Wind" makes an erroneous statement - that Mary Lindell "finds a courage she never knew she had". This lady knew courage - as a wealthy teenager she knew she wanted to be part of the war (W.W. I) and she went to train as a nurse, then went to the front. She nursed both English and Germans, refusing to let any she could help be left to die. One day this slip of a girl was assisting at an operation when she was called outside. She found herself being given the Croix de Guerre, while wearing her blood-stained nurse's uniform. When the presentation was over, she returned to her work. Mary Lindell knew courage all her life, and did not need to "find it".

A BBC series done by Peter Morley, called "Women of Courage", dealt with four women, and Mary Lindell was one of them. He writes this of her in his book:

"Meeting her for the first time in her smart apartment in Paris, merely confirmed that
her story had to be told. All of 5-feet tall, slightly-built and elegantly dressed, Mary Lindell greeted us, holding her dachshund ‘Tommy’ in her arms: “Oh, thank God, some Englishmen! Can’t stand the French, you know – come in.” Yet she had lived in Paris for the past sixty-one years – since the end of the Great War – and considered her apartment to be on British soil, and she never let one forget it.

"In her living room, the well-known Karsh portrait of Churchill glared down at you,
and on display beneath it, an impressive array of medals and decorations, including a
Croix de Guerre awarded to her in the 1914-18 war and a Croix de Guerre from the
Second World War. It was now sixty-two years since the London Daily Mail broke the news of her death on the Western Front, and thirty-six years since notices appeared on the streets of Paris declaring that she had been shot by the Nazis.
