Greetings,
Hoping to get a discussion going here as to the idea of a safer nuclear energy. Many are not aware that the first reactors built were Liquid Fluoride Thorium Reactors, or LFTR's for short. They were a safer form of nuclear power, didn't produce plutonium, and couldn't melt down, and were a lot cheaper to build...
Are there people here who could broaden our knowledge about this procedure...are there countries building these reactors now....at what scale can these be built...could a state or county afford to build one without federal help or oversight?
I understand that LFTR's produce enough excess heat to power desalinization plants and other technologies and can be portable...
It seems to me that, until overunity devices or zero point or magnetic devices can be perfected, these thorium reactors could be implemented, and lower the cost of energy production to nearly free....
Would appreciate your thoughts and advice, Avalonians,
I've tried to get Duke Power to discuss this here in my area, as they have shut down our nuclear power plant last year...and have plans to build a natural gas power plant...but...the pipeline isn't even here yet...
Thanks
end of line.
