OSs these days are incredibly complex and massive pieces of software (think product drivers that will be needed). It would take a team of people of highly skilled people a long time to make something that can be called a "windows alternative".

Don't get me wrong, I hope this works! But ... there's a loooong way to go before we'll know if this project can actually bear fruit. So far there is just 12 backers ...

Nice thought....I think symbian was the safest os for mobile and still is .... I just read "https://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?85785-Edward-Snowden-BBC-interview-Smartphones-can-be-taken-over" , I think this type of mass surveillance is not exist on symbian..... Well I am not sure..... Any thoughts on this welcome.....

Yeah I see your point and I understand what you are saying,
I can also see the logic on it , but it needs to start somewhere, lets hope this or other project goes forward and became successful giving us our basic rights back
