Thanks for your thoughts. I believe many of the points touched upon here are true.

I fear that one day an NFL team will employ the shot-gun offense with an actual weapon in the name of ratings. Like some football scene from a movie (can't remember the name).

The idea of tax-subsidized stadia has come and gone. The public is sick of giving billionaires access to the public trough. This is part of the slippery slope the NFL is facing.

The thuggery of the fans is well documented. The former Philadelphia stadium had a jail and court room inside to arraign the "fans" charged with crimes on game day. I'm not sure about the new stadium.

I still maintain that football and soccer need to be eliminated, as they are systems of entrainment utilized by oligarchy.

it's a long path to getting to understanding what I mean, and someone invested in the entire mental setting and life if what I speak of.... very likely isn't going to look at without bias ---any time soon.

You didnt include a smiley face here so im going to assume you were serious when you said that you think an nfl quarterback would sneak an actual shotgun onto the field and use it - literally - in the "shotgun" formation. I'll skip all the obvious questions I have and go straight to the most relevant: does this insane scenario youve dreamt up occur on a flat or round earth?

These anti sport threads pop up.now and again and they smack of resentment from a bunch of people who were never any good at athletics and have now found a place to vent. Its like a bunch of nerds finding empty reasons to dislike the prom queen or something

Sport is a discipline. done properly it can be a meditation. We all have competitive impulses...its not a spiritual act to deny them.

We should be engaged most of the time, but some escapism is necessary...for fans. The players? Theyre engaged 150 percent. This is their art, their expression, their meditation. And I view it thru that lense. I understand all its foibles, but I ALLOW myself to enjoy it...same way I allow myself to enjoy candy, starbucks, french fries and a cheesy but catchy song on commercial radio - I dont take it too seriously.

We all have competitive impulses and we all have violent impulses. Mma fighting and sports like football and rugby arent excuses to be competitive and/or violent, theyre outlets. You start blocking these outlets and these impulses will still exist..only theyll find.other less desirable avenues of expression, like various forms of crime, for example.
