These numbers paint a different picture than reality. There are vastly more competitive contracts let than sole source, no-bid contracts. The no-bid contracts represent the largest percentage of dollars spent, however. Most of these contracts are for major weapon systems for which only a few companies in the world are capable of building. Perhaps at the onset these complex contracts are competed, but once a firm gets the initial contract they become entrenched and thus the sole source. After the intensive Research & Development, then Full Rate Production it becomes extremely uneconomical to compete them again. The duplication of costs and production delays bringing in another source is prohibitive.

I am not saying there isn't abuse and favoritism, especially in the unique contracting environments such as the Middle East or war zones.

There is also the 'known risk/known quantity' side of the coin, as reality... and as an excuse/fib for the no-bid contracts.

In some cases, security and known quantities, via prior relationships.... are more important than costs.

Can one of you embed the whole article so it is opened to view the vast scope of the expenditures? Having myself benefited from no bid contracts and a sole source corp. bids no brown bags or fraud were present. Mainly the sole source were for known quantities, via prior relationships (change costs at least 10% on everything) and for scope/ scale reasons and efficiency, but my point of the post was and forgive me for being cute or not descriptive enough to point out how huge the numbers are and what they might imply? A Breakaway civilization, black ops developing technologies that are controlled and exploited by an elite few for reasons that are not fully understood. Rabbit hole stuff for sure but are they really all necessary for war? Doesn't it seem like we've out grown this m.o.? Watch Bill's interview with Jim Sparks from Camelot 08' that has been re-posted by RunningDeer. I think the lights are on and it's critical mass time on a lot of this stuff. PA has rolled out a lot of info and it's not war it's evolution time. Get up stand up and say WTF this is an insane waste of human potential and killing the planet. ENOUGH! Sooo look at those numbers again , get up say I don't need the shinny new army and let's move this mother out. Paradigm shift brothers and sistas. That's anyway what I meant by my cute post heading. Like mother gaia sayin' can you guys give me a break please you are bankrupting me and your depleted uranium smarts weapons bombs, ships and super fueled jets are making me sick and will blow us all into next lifetime.
