Default Symbolism in professional sports? What does it mean?

    Any symbologists in the house?

I'm not a big sports fan but I played sports, currently coach as one of my jobs (for pay), and I do follow my local college (University of Ky) in basketball. You can't NOT be born and raised in Lexington, Ky and not be a UK basketball fan. It's like the Yankees in baseball or Barcelona in futbol. Anyway, the UK men's team just won the SEC championship yesterday and when they hold up the trophy I see this:

Here's the actual image from yesterday

I know the elite use symbols but I'm not an expert. However (draw that out real slow)...this seems to be pretty obvious to me. Notice 1st picture was from 2004. They are still using the same trophy 12 years later.

So I did a quick look around and found some other interesting trophies from professional sports over the years. I just typed "professional sports trophies photos" into google. I was especially surprised to see so many Tower of Babel symbols, as well as many obelisks. I'm curious if the 'layered cake' look has some meaning (in 4 of the photos from the link at the end), only because it appears so often.

This was after only a couple minute search. I know sports are being used by the power elite to distract us. I do occasionally partake, though. I know high level university and professional sports are partnering more and more with the military to embed that kind of thinking in fans, which worries me. Are they telling us with their trophies, too? I wonder if anyone has more insights into some of the common symbols in these trophies. Thanks.

    Matt
