Could fairies exist? Rapper's snap shows bizarre tiny winged beings in Welsh countryside

A member of a Welsh rap group believes that he inadvertently photographed a swarm of fairies while going for a walk in a field with his dog.

John Rutledge says that he noticed the anomalies when later looking at the pictures and became convinced that he had captured the legendary elemental entities on film.

The seven somewhat-translucent flying 'objects' are about one-and-a-half inches long and appear to possess arms, legs, and wings.

Amazed by the image, Rutledge has expressed certainty that the photograph constitutes definitive proof that fairies exist.

Skeptical observers, however, disagree with his conclusion and suggest that the 'fairies' are actually just insects that look 'magical' due to the lighting and angle of the photograph.

It also should be noted that the Rutledge purportedly took the image while looking for places to record his podcast series about myths and mysteries.

Such a coincidence is almost certain to raise suspicions that the photograph is merely a clever way of promoting his podcast.

Whether the image is a legitimate glimpse of the iconic creatures or an elaborate ruse is open to debate, but it's safe the say that the enigmatic photograph serves to spark the imagination of anyone who has ever wondered if fairies might be real.

POLAR STRATOSPHERIC CLOUDS: Bright colors have appeared in the skies over Antarctica--but it's not the aurora australis. Instead, pastel stratospheric clouds are floating over the frozen continent. B. Sudarsan Patro photographed the apparition on June 17th from the Bharati Indian Base Station" ...



"The clouds were absolutely stunning," says Patro. "It was really surprising and a new experience for all of us."

Atmospheric optics expert Les Cowley says "Bharati Station at 70 degrees south is just the place to get these wonderful filmy Polar Stratospheric Clouds (PSCs). Floating 9 to 16 miles high, they need stunningly-cold temperatures below -85 Celsius to form."

Sunlight shining through tiny ice particles ~10µm across produce the characteristic bright iridescent colors of PSCs by diffraction and interference. "More familiar tropospheric clouds can also shine with iridescent colours," says Cowley, "but never as vividly or memorably as PSCs. This page helps distinguish the two."

Half Animal, Half Plant: The Solar-Powered Sea Slug

This one here is quite an astonishing discovery ...

"Deep in the sea there is a a bright green sea slug that seems to have the genes like the algae it eats, so that it can produce energy from sunlight just like plants. The little creature, called the eastern emerald elysia or Elysia chlorotica, has incorporated genes from algae into its own chromosomes enabling it to photosynthesis.

That means the slug can become solar powered, using the sun's energy to turn carbon dioxide and water in to the nutrients it needs to survive.

A young elysia chlorotica is reddish or greyish in color. When the slug starts feeding it becomes bright green because of the chloroplasts in the cells. Since the slug does not have a shell to protect itself from predators, the green colour helps to camouflage it and blend with its surroundings thus increasing its survival.

That means the slug can become solar powered, using the sun's energy to turn carbon dioxide and water in to the nutrients it needs to survive."

Earth's Second "Mini" Moon Discovered by NASA

"Earth currently has two moons thanks to a small asteroid that has been orbiting the Earth for the last century. 2016 H03 is roughly 120-300 feet in diameter and was discovered on April 27 by NASA. 2016 H03 is not a classified as a natural moon because of it’s distance from the planet, instead they are calling it a “quasi-satellite.” "Our calculations indicate 2016 HO3 has been a stable quasi-satellite of Earth for almost a century, and it will continue to follow this pattern as Earth's companion for centuries to come," said Paul Chodas, manager of NASA's Center for Near-Earth Object Studies. 2016 H03 is not the first asteroid caught in Earths orbit. 2003 YN107 followed a similar orbital pattern for over 10 years before it’s trajectory sent it off into space. NASA predicts that there are numerous small objects currently orbiting Earth. Jo Ankier, Nik Zecevic and Margaret J. Howell take a closer look at Earth’s “mini” moon on the Lip News."
