Here and Now...What's Happening?

My wife came across this today. I have always been intrigued by the Huichol in Mexico, and was lucky enough to visit the sacred mountains in Real de Catorce, and my spirit guide is the deer, a la Wirikuta. Anyhow, she showed me this Huichol art depicting an alleged birthing practice of theirs. I found this cited online, appears to be true. How The Husband Assists in the Birth of a Child:
According to the Huichol tradition, when a woman had her first child the husband squatted in the rafters of the house, or in the branches of a tree, directly above her, with ropes attached to his scrotum. As she went into labor pain, the wife pulled vigorously on the ropes, so that her husband shared in the painful, but ultimately joyous, experience of childbirth. (Berrin 1978: 162)

My wife advanced her natural birthing knowledge and skills with each child we have had, and continues to do so through La Leche League, IDCLC, etc. Glad we are done with having children as I might have been up in the rafters for the next one!

We planted a mango tree last year, in front of our kitchen window. It is now about 7 feet tall, but still a baby tree.
And in there we found a tiny nest, with two eggs, at eye level.
And since yesterday there are two baby hummingbirds in our baby mango tree:

Sounds more like an early form of birth control. One child per family.

Urrrrghhh. I hate summer. yes I did say that. I literally hate summer.

Mini heatwave hitting the UK, luckily by tomorrow it will end. Today it is 33C. That's 91.4 fahrenheit.



Met Office experts haven't ruled out record-breaking temperatures later this afternoon, which could soar higher than the 34.7 degrees recorded in July 2006 - a record for my city. How you people who live in hot countries can bear this, and even survive, is beyond my comprehension.

Did I say i hate summer? Bring on winter.

it was a cutting off a known good tree, right?


I know of about 6 trees (out of the thousands on island) that I visit when "the time is right"... heh I'll have to get a cutting off one of them and plant it one of these days.

Sounds like it's time to move... Perpetual summer is a bit confusing at first.. but now I love it.

I identify with the harness... Sure I'm not being used for my original purpose, but with a little string or tape look at how awesome a simple harness can be!
