    Default Constantly Changing?

So I've come to the conclusion that I am constantly changing. When I reflect on my past interests and passions, they usually don't last long and then I find something else to completely devote myself to. I am committed to growth and the exploration of my spirit, so I don't mind experimenting and trying new things. But thinking about it, I can see how this constant change of who I am or want to be will dilute my capabilities of achieving that. I believe I can do anything, but I know I can't do everything. I am trying to condition myself to focus on something and see it through, but it seems like I don't know what. Perhaps I have an underlying commitment issue worth reflecting on? Is this something you guys may have experienced?

Oh gods yes. The answer comes not in the form what do I do, but when do I do it. The answer is simply, now. A Theosophical Society master recently said to me that there really is no action other than spiritual action for those on the path. So what you must do is find peace in the right now and let all of your actions flow with spiritual purpose and thus become spiritual action.

I do not mean do spiritual things, but find what makes your spirit move in the present moment. There are spiritual battles to be waged from doing the laundry (perfecting one's circle) to fighting injustice (perfecting one's circle). There are small battles like cheering up someone who arrives in your circle. There large battles like using your unique background to save a life in some heroic way. The point is not that we achieve this or accomplish that, but that we were, in EVERY moment, attuned to the highest good.

Meditate on that. Shed all the layers of the self and arrive at complete peace with every action you perform.

I do have that problem. Although im not sure its a "problem" at all.

Seems youre just sampling the buffet table of life...to perhaps get an inkling of where to apply all that energy. Some people may spend an entire lifetime sampling (or more) and tho it may be frustrating, I dont see anything wrong with it. Maybe you could look upon it as simply being part of the process.

I recall someone somewhere writing something like "the quickest way to getting what you want is to stop changing your mind about it. Masters achieve what they want because they are of one mind about it.." thats a paraphrase, but you get the point. We all have to learn that lesson. Even masters

This is all true. Thanks for reminding me everyone. My true/higher self knows that life isn't about becoming something, or trying to be someone, it's about being. Guess that's why people call themselves human beings. But this physical manifestation of my spirit often forgets that. So that means wherever "I" am, whoever "I" am, and whatever "I" am doing, it's all part of the process, or the journey of life. I also am at peace with the fact that everything is temporary, and it shouldn't be taken so seriously.
(I put quotations on "I" to emphasize the questioning of my ego after reading these replies.)
Doing my best to grow and be at peace with what is, even if that means I perceive something within me is constantly changing. The best I can do is to be present and be at peace with this moment as it is, while holding positive hopes and expectations for what will be.

Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj answers best in my opinion:

"Realise that whatever you think yourself to be is just a stream of events; that while all happens, comes and goes, you alone are, the changeless among the changeful, the self- evident among the inferred. Separate the observed from the observer and abandon false identifications."

    and

"The body appears in your mind, your mind is the content of your consciousness; you are the motionless witness of the river of consciousness which changes eternally without changing you in any way. Your own changelessness is so obvious that you do not notice it. Have a good look at yourself and all these misapprehensions and misconceptions will dissolve. Just as all the little watery lives are in water and cannot be without water, so all the universe is in you and cannot be without you."

Awakenedwarrior if you feel your on a mission here and now of some sort as I have. Be open to all possibilities, you may find that life will steer you in the direction it needs you to take via experiences and people whom come into your life and also leave, whether they be good or bad.
All these experiences and interactions are for a purpose and seem to be to help you grow your knowledge and personality for whatever mission you are here for.

If you want guidance or answers meditate on it or in a quite moment simple ask yourself the question.

Goodluck, believe absolutely in yourself and be true to yourself always.

(absolutely nothing to do with AwakenedWarrior at all!) in my experience I find that I steer clear of anyone with an attention deficit disorder. I had a gay friend I had grown attached to, and we shared a lot between us..if he wanted someone he could trust to talk to about something private, I was there for him..and vice versa. A few months down the line he got promoted and is obsessed with going on cruises, and that is all he talks about now. How people change!!! one minute they are your buddy...next they are a total stranger.

I prefer someone who has staying power and are loyal to their word...or that horrible hurt feeling starts manifesting again.

As for AwakenedWarrior's passions & interests ~ maybe you havent found anything of interest that floats your boat yet! but that will come in time when your influences go in a certain direction..

    Much love, Sue

According to ACIM, we seem to change because we change our mind about ourselves, thinking we create ourselves instead of God, but God does not change his mind about his Son who is eternally the same.
Quote My holy brother, think of this awhile: The world you see does nothing. 2 It has no effects at all. 3 It merely represents your thoughts. 4 And it will change entirely as you elect to change your mind, and choose the joy of God as what you really want. 5 Your Self is radiant in this holy joy, unchanged, unchanging and unchangeable, forever and forever. 6 And would you deny a little corner of your mind its own inheritance, and keep it as a hospital for pain; a sickly place where living things must come at last to die?

Thanks for the kind words, I do feel like I'm on a mission. I feel as if I am blessed with this life and amazing opportunities. I am going to do the best I can, with what I have, wherever I am, whoever I'm with. And strive for the best and trust the universe, and be peace with what is, and not be ashamed to want more. I agree, everything is temporary, including people, so I learned to appreciate what I can while it is in my experience, so when it's time to leave comes, I can at least be happy knowing I loved it while I can.
