Default Why has the recent US presidential election created so much polarization on the Avalon Forum?

    Hi All,

I love this forum and it is a little sad to see so much polarization among folks who in so many cases in the past I observed to be predominantly kind and friendly towards each other now all too often at each others' throats.

So I hope this thread can be used to work this out if folks wish to do so. I sure do.

So I ask... why has this happened here on the Project Avalon forum? I am ready and willing to share my thoughts on why and to do so at the various levels of being I perceive us each to experience. I will do so in due course but I hope a few others would respond first as I don't like asking a question which I immediately answer because that feels like coercion to me.

All the above is all and only my opinion - all subject to change and not meant to be true for anyone else regardless of how I phrase it.

Default Re: Why has the recent US presidential election created so much polarization on the Avalon Forum?

I've wanted to say something about this for a while but I haven't figured out the right way to state it.

For starters I will say this, most of us growing up in the USA have been programmed to believe they are a democrat or republican, it's important to note this and to not make to lightly of it. Many of us claim to have grown past party politics to the point we can claim we are political atheists, but quite often we do not realize how ingrained and pervasive this repetitive assault's success on our consciousness has been and that it has grown deeper roots than we would like to acknowledge.
I thought I was free of this myself some years ago, and I found myself defending Obama back in 2010, before I knew just how bad he was.
    This is part of it.

Another part of it would be the current media barrage we are getting about fake news.
I personally believe there is some form of "eye of sauron", or "agent smith" type mind control going on that accompanies this message. I'll get off facebook and or a MSM website and find within myself this miniscule self doubt regarding my opinions based on alternative news. I can't help but to think our collective unconscious is under some type of attack here.

I think there are those on this forum of whom this forum may be their only source of alternative media, and as such the MSM still has a firm grip on them.
For those of us who have exposed ourselves to works such as Bryce Taylor's "thanks for the memories", and Kathy O'Brian's "Trance America" there is a foundation that has been laid that allows a understanding for what pizzagate truly is.
For those who do not know about Bohemain Grove and the ritual to Moloch they perform, and the "conspiracy of silence" video on youtube documenting instances of Washington DC pedophilia, for those folks this pizzagate thing is outlandish and they are more concerned about the sexism displayed by Trump in some 20 year old conversation.

And I will go back to the current war being waged on the alternative media.
I have family members who are currently being activated by this, and as a result will have little to nothing to do with me, as if I'm now a dangerous person to be around because of my views. Views of which these folks have known I've had for decades.
It is not I that have changed, it is this current programming that is being pumped into the collective unconscious in my opinion.

It is probably very tempting for some to give in to this programming, rather than face the dark insidious underbelly of our very Government in these strange times.
I for one will not, and I hope those reading this will not give into it either.

Well maybe politics is by design a device that divides people. So people can be ruled when they argue amongst each other.
It's not like citizens get to choose what they want or don't want to be allowed.
They only get to choose whoever it is that makes these descisions. And then you get more arguments about those descisions.
My idea is that politics divides people. Everywhere even here

Scott Adams creator of Dilbert, deconstructs the persuasion used by the candidates. They start talking about the election around the 7 min mark.

America's competitiveness for being on the winning team, occasionally during election seasons, drives them over the deep end with sometimes hidden conversations made public.
IDK if there's "enough heart left in this nation" to turn this tide.
I've given it over to creator, breaks my heart daily.

Ironically I usually lean centre 'leftish' in UK politics and I am a trade unionist,
but I was drawn to Trump mainly because in my view Hillary was unelectable .
Also Donald is not a true right winger from what I can see and although US/UK
politics do not directly translate , the working man/woman are the backbone
of any economy and I think his heart is in the right place.Whether he can keep
to his spin and rhetoric of the election campaign and drain the swamp will be
interesting considering some of his picks so far .

It looks to me he is trying to bring a management style to the White House
and this may be the key for him personally and hopefully it will work and
if nothing else he can reduce the lobby system . Internationally I hope he
can reduce tensions by staying fully engaged but without the threats and
escalating the threat of a new cold war, which has become very close over
    the past decade....

Of course the other part is if he will be able to govern or be hampered by the
hidden state ? Will he get the JFK speech ? or will they leave him as a maverick
President and rebuild in the shadows ? four possibly eight years is not long in the
    scheme of things....

    The Abnormalization of Dissent

    SHOW NOTES: https://www.corbettreport.com/?p=20792

The spin, lies, manipulation and deceptions are coming so fast and thick it's increasingly
difficult to document them all, let alone analyze them. But in the broad sweep of recent
events we can see a common theme emerging: the abnormalization of dissent. And
when political ideology boils down to nothing more than "real" and "fake" the control
of political discourse through language itself is almost complete. Can outright
    censorship be far behind?

The methodology of 'abnormalization' is done in an atmosphere of confidence. For a very good reason. taken from another thread:

    Quote Posted by Carmody (here)
    Quote Posted by Carmody (here)
The reason news works so well, is buried deep in the human psyche. Why 'soon' and 'hope' work so well at creating or maintaining inaction:

It's that old predator-prey system, the one that operates on the single deepest fear and survival mechanism.

The oldest form of news you know of, is the one where the predator kills and eats the monkeys on the edge of the herd.

The monkeys who stay in the middle and avoid the edge, they live and prosper.

Your genetics have been altered by the fates, over many hundreds of thousands of years, into a 'herd edge watchfulness'.

News, of any kind, gives you the same story, it informs the survival mechanism that is always alert.

To watch the other monkeys who are on the herd edge, even watch some die..but always be safe, as you move always to the center.

You are wired to avoid action, to respond to the news (herd edge behaviour as conditioned response)...and that is your own hook you are controlled by.... and it is your undoing.

You may not be acting on what you should be and you may be placated by news and the consensus creating mechanisms like TV, etc....but now you know why.

    And that.....can change things.
The 'pull' from the other side of the equation is just as potent.

The origins of confidence. How it came into being. feeling safe. Fear, death-chance...decision, confidence. In that order, sort of. If one monkey or proto-human makes a confident move or motion, then it has gone through the process of life risk assessment and if you (as an ancient proto-human) see it move confidently then your primal instincts are less in the forefront and their decision is 'honored' to some degree (honored by the depths of your unconscious).

The proto-humans lived and moved and breathed as a team, with co-joined outward physicality and response patterns.

It is no small wonder then, that one can fall prey to a million different forms of confidence games.

As part of the decision process has no thought in it. Literally.

To free yourself from what can be manipulated into being weakness, this must be a conscious understanding until it becomes a conscious pattern of knowing about it's pitfalls. Lapses will be the norm. After all, it is instinctive and physiological in scope. You will fall back into the pattern as this is what the outer world reflects back to you in every breath. For all of your life.

How our brains are biologically tuned to be influenced by confident people

Quote Scientists have uncovered that the added influence of confident people may be down to our biology.

By studying brain activity, academics discerned that human brains are geared for placing added value on opinions of confident people.

The research, published today in the Journal of Neuroscience and led by University of Sussex psychologist Dr Daniel Campbell-Meiklejohn, pinpointed a region of the brain that responds to confident (but not unconfident) opinions of others when making decisions.

The scientists examined the active brains of 23 healthy volunteers and found that expectations of success could be influenced by three key elements: personal experience, learning what the majority people believe and, most importantly, learning what confident people believe.

The first two had widespread effects on the brain's reward system, which predicts how satisfied we will be when we choose something. Opinions of confident people, however, had an additional effect on this reward system – and only in a part of the brain that appeared late in our evolution................

Thats what politics have been invented for, divide and conquer.
We, the humans as a whole will never win as long as the poly/tics persist.

If you ask me, the alternative is personal sovereignty.
If a critical mass of humans had achieved personal sovereignty,
the organization for the masses would come together naturally, organically.
    Why?
Because to achieve personal sovereignty, you need to change from the inside and gain all the qualities you wished everybody else had.
Then at that level of exsistance, ..compassion, cooperation and "brotherhood" would be the base level of society, and so then, who needs some dude in a suit and tie to tell us how it should be?
Really, its not that difficult to imagine once we stop thinking we need some other leader than ourselves to have the positive results.
    :-)

By its very nature, being a two brained option, the process of choosing between two things, views, religions, whatever, is easy if we want either of the choices. When we want neither of the choices however, two choices is too many.

Events have left us all a bit shook up, for one reason or another. Everywhere we look we find people to disagree with us, the remainers over the leavers over the regrexiters, those who trumped Hillary, those greedy native Americans who won't let the innocent whites put pipelines under their river, slowing progress, the masses of Sirian refugees and their neighbours who now wander through the EU looking for a handout or just for a stable for the night... Etc... Etc..

Division is everywhere. If we let it grow within us. If we don't, then it is just diversity and history, just let it wash against our shores to be observed with compassion. Don't let the fù(&$ get you down. I love the diversity of this place, I love all of you, warts and all....x.... N

Diversity of thought is good. It is good for me because I can still (at 73 years) be convinced when I am wrong. I like to think that I have an open mind, but there are times when some shouting and head knocking will do wonders for me. I am glad that the PA forum has a 'Thanks' button and not a 'No Thanks' button, or worse.

It is all anger and fear that is driving the polarization. Primariliy anger on the side of the Trump supporters and primarily fear on the other side. In my opinion nobody is as stupid as they seem and everyone knows deep down that the emperor has no clothes. Trump supporters are rocking the boat and the other side is just trying to lay low and survive. Not everyone has an appetite for this fight.

Sam, your thread question reminded me of something i posted a few weeks ago in another thread. I shall repost it here.

There has been quite a few mentions of different polarities in this thread. For example, left and right as far as political opinions go. Being balanced has also been mentioned. But what exactly is being in a balanced state mean.?

What I have learned through my lives journey, is that there is a balanced positive and an unbalanced positive, a balanced negative and unbalanced negative. When a balanced positive and a balanced negative meet in the middle of the person, that person becomes balanced.
It is the same with left and right in the political arena. There are unbalanced left supporters and balanced left supporters, unbalanced right supporters and balanced right supporters. The solution's are to be found somewhere in the neutral centre's of both balanced energies.

We are all aware that the world is riding a storm at this time. Crazy times indeed. Emotions are heightened but we all know the value of riding this storm together. During the Scottish referendum and brexit I made myself a promise that I would not lose good friends because of different political opinions. My friends and I had hot debates but that promise worked. The love and care I have for my friends way outweighed any political outcome.

My inner intentions are for all outcomes to be for the betterment of all.

We can all do this if we stick together and focus more on solutions, rather than dramatic unbalanced fear porn.

    Love to all
When you express from a fearful heart in the now moment, You create a fearful future.
When you express from a loving heart in the now moment, You create a loving future.

Have no fear, Be aware and live your lives journey from a compassionate caring nurturing heart to manifest a compassionate caring nurturing future. Billyji

    Peace

Good question, with so much money and energy being put into racing each candidate people are under stress, the type of stress that confuses people. People are so heavily influenced by various types of attacks on the candidates, at some point somebody draws the line, but some draw it earlier than others, hence it becomes sensitive. Add on top of this those that take an extremely one sided position, profiles like Alex Jones, now all of a sudden groupings are formed in the alternative politics as well. On top of this you have a mixed bag when it comes to views on religion, spirituality etc. so it can become strongly biased towards certain separate and distant positions.

But wheter you are on side A B C D... the important thing I want to bring attention to is the fact that in a world bathing in truth there is peace that resolves the distance and separation, so collectively we need to focus on truth. When we do this we also discover love and peace and in this process we become one fully united people representing humanity on earth at this time. But this kind of reality is nothing like the current reality - nations, weapons and all of the stuff that represents battle no longer serves the people a purpose because in peace you no longer have the battle. In a world of peace the emotional depth increases dramatically, people can communicate through telemphathy. Everybody forgive and are kind and collectively we remove limitations that have caused us pain for centuries. Everything is created for the benefit of the collective, we are living our dreams towards the dreams of the collective. This is a world I want to experience, peace, truth and love is what makes us happy, the less limitations attached to those the more joyful the collective is and the more kind we are to our planet and mother nature. Having this in our future is worth everything. We should every day on an individual basis strive for truth, peace and love, especially unconditional love.

When I read through the comments and thoughts expressed here, it makes me think of the desperately difficult and troubled times during my childhood in South Africa.... And then I think of Codesa, the Truth and Reconciliation Commisssion, Archbishop Tutu and the "protest" movement and its musicians, actors and artists.

For me one of the outpourings of the "soul of a people" from that time is this song - Weeping by Bright Blue. It always makes me cry, even all these years later and many, many listens... I guess there is still a deep well of emotion to surface....

Maybe for some there are deep emotions to surface in this case too?

    Lyrics:
    Quote WEEPING
    Written by Dan Heymann

    ______________________________
I knew a man who lived in fear
It was huge, it was angry, it was drawing near
Behind his house, a secret place
Was the shadow of the demon he could never face
He built a wall of steel and flame
And men with guns, to keep it tame
Then standing back, he made it plain
That the nightmare would never ever rise again
But the fear and the fire and the guns remain

    It doesn’t matter now
    It’s over anyhow
He tells the world that it’s sleeping
But as the night came round
    I heard its lonely sound
It wasn’t roaring, it was weeping

And then one day the neighbors came
They were curious to know about the smoke and flame
They stood around outside the wall
But of course there was nothing to be heard at all
"My friends," he said, "We’ve reached our goal
The threat is under firm control
As long as peace and order reign
I’ll be damned if I can see a reason to explain
Why the fear and the fire and the guns remain"
For me the most powerful words in the song are: "it wasn't roaring, it was weeping"... Though the whole song and its video are powerful in expressing the raw wounds, blindness and grief of the time.

I was formulating my own reply as I read through the thread, pretty much everything I had to say has already been mentioned by others. I had been going to mention that perhaps we were programmed on a deep level, in our very genetics, to be placid, good slaves. Living in ignorance and rejecting any sign of an upsetting of the apple cart. Than I read Carmody's post and short of suggesting that perhaps our DNA was made that way by our 'creators' there is nothing to add there either.

Like you DNA, I have found myself questioning (paraphrasing) if I actually am a conspiracy nut. Up to now I'm still holding firm.

There was talk earlier in the year, or perhaps last year, of the Sun entering a part of the universe that would see an increase in energy. The planet would pass through a wave of higher energy, it was mooted that this would bring a great amount of turmoil. As Billy talked about balance I imagine the unbalanced would fare less well in such a case, leading to reactionary emotional outbursts. The balanced, under pressure, forge stronger or will also break. It does seem to me at this time that the reality of this energy wave is apparent all around us, and this may just be the beginning.

I've been noting for a while an increasing polarity developing in sections of the forum over several subjects. Mayhaps this is a time for internal reflections and not one for external reinforcements.

We are all struggling and we are all scared. If you are not, at least uneasy about the political landscape, right or left, up or down, you're not awake. And people will disagree and that's okay. It's important to express your own ideas while listening carefully to what others have to say.

I have read and heard some pretty wrong headed things about the pro-Trump crowd and have spent a lot of time and nearly gotten into fights defending them. I have heard they are all racists, not bright and yadayadayada from some anti-Trump people.

But I have also heard some truly ridiculous things coming from pro-Trump crowd about the anti Trump crowd that are rarely true. That they all fear change and support Hillary, for starters.

These myths have to be dispelled. Disagreement is fine. It isn't good if it is built on a foundation of myth.

Thank you all, and DNA. I agree with the concepts brought up. People have thought me crazy when I say I do not watch sports or care for any Olympic feat. I find competition is the dividing rod. It makes me more than you and it always brings up rejection, hurt, shame, jealousy, rage, even fraud and unhealthy standards toward the physical body. Why is competition so accepted? Look at real estate or any marketing group or business in general? In politics it creates chaos and feelings untapped. It is a madness that dissociates good people.
