IICSA child sex abuse inquiry public hearings under way

A former child migrant has called for an inquiry to "name the villains" responsible for the sexual
abuse of British children sent overseas.

Thousands of children were relocated to Australia and parts of the British Empire up to 1974.

Many experienced "unacceptable depravity", the first hearing in the independent inquiry into child
sexual abuse in England and Wales has heard.

One migrant, David Hill, called for perpetrators to be "named and shamed".

Meanwhile the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) has apologised and referred
itself to the information commissioner after mistakenly sending out confidential information relating
to abuse victims.

'Beyond the law'

Mr Hill was 12 when he was sent with his two brothers to the Fairbridge Farm School in Western Australia.

He told the hearing: "We'll never be able to undo the great wrong that was done to these children.

"But what is important to the survivors of sexual abuse is where this inquiry is satisfied with the evidence
- name the villains.

"Many of them are beyond the grave and therefore beyond the law.

"But it would bring a great deal of the comfort to the people who as children were victims of these people
if they were named and shamed."

Sex parties as bribes: Eight US Navy officers charged in ‘Fat Leonard’ scandal

Eight US Navy officials have been charged in the ‘Fat Leonard’ bribery case which
has plagued the military branch for years. They are accused of accepting “luxury
travel, elaborate dinners and services of prostitutes” from a Singapore-based
defense contractor.

Among those charged is Rear Admiral Bruce Loveless, recently retired from the
Pentagon, as well as four retired navy captains, and a retired marine colonel.

The defendants were arrested across five states on Tuesday, according to authorities.
They face charges including bribery, conspiracy to commit bribery, honest services
fraud, and obstruction of justice and making false statements to federal investigators,
according to a Tuesday release by the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Children may still be at risk in Jersey's care system, a report into
seven decades of child abuse has found.Live electrical wires were
applied to children's legs as part of the ongoing abuse, Gifford
Aubin told the Haut de la Garenne children's home inquiry.

He was at the home in the 1950s and described how he was hit
with a metal-tipped stick and had meals withheld.

Cardinal Pell: Vatican treasurer denies Australia sex offences


The Vatican treasurer, Cardinal George Pell, has vehemently denied any wrongdoing
after being charged with sex offences in his native Australia.

He complained that he had been subjected to "relentless character assassination"
during a two-year investigation into the "false" claims.

He said the Pope had granted him a leave of absence to fight the charges.

The charges relate to alleged "historical" incidents, police in the state of Victoria said.

The allegations were made by a number of people, said Police Deputy Commissioner Shane Patton.

Cardinal Pell, 76, who is based in the Vatican, is considered the third-ranking official in the Holy See.

Modern slavery and trafficking 'in every UK town and city'

Modern slavery and human trafficking in the UK is "far more prevalent
than previously thought," the National Crime Agency has said.

The NCA said there were more than 300 live policing operations currently,
with cases affecting "every large town and city in the country".

The agency estimated that there were tens of thousands of victims.

It said previous estimates of 10,000-13,000 victims in the UK were found
to be the "tip of the iceberg".

"The more we look, the more we find," the NCA's vulnerabilities director
Will Kerr said. Mr Kerr said he had been shocked by what he had seen
during this year's intensive efforts to break up gangs, with almost every
major operation triggering even more investigations. He warned that
trafficking into modern slavery was now so widespread that ordinary
people would be unwittingly coming into contact with victims every day.

MacKean worked at the BBC until she quit in 2013 after executives decided to ban her groundbreaking and brave investigation into predatory pedophile Jimmy Savile in order to protect him and other pedophiles.

Dismissed by the establishment as mad and dangerous, MacKean was finally vindicated when the truth about Savile's pedophilia eventually came out in 2012, a full year after MacKean first tried to bring his notorious crimes to light.

The BBC, who blocked her groundbreaking investigation from airing and spent the next few years attempting to destroy her reputation, are reporting that she died of "complications from a stroke."

Acknowledging her life was under threat during the time she was investigating Savile and BBC elites, MacKean said her conscience left her no option but to pursue the truth and expose the culture of pedophila. The mother of two children believed it was her duty.

When it became public that BBC News blocked her investigation from airing, she admitted on Panorama: "I was very unhappy the story didn't run because I felt we'd spoken to people who collectively deserved to be heard. And they weren't heard.

"I thought that that was a failure... I felt we had a responsibility towards them. We got them to talk to us, but above all, we did believe them. And so then, for their stories not to be heard, I felt very bad about that. I felt, very much, that I'd let them down."


Big name stars

Liz MacKean is the second high profile BBC journalist to die in suspicious circumstances after attempting to expose the truth about the pedophile ring operating in the upper reaches of the establishment. Jill Dando, former Crimewatch host, also tried to alert her bosses to the pedophile ring at the BBC, warning that "big name" stars were implicated.

Jill Dando, who was 37, was shot dead on April 26, 1999 on the doorstep of her West London home in a crime that still remains unsolved.

Before she died, Dando had passed a file to senior management in the mid-1990s, proving that big name BBC stars, including Savile, were involved in a pedophile ring, but senior management chose to cover up the child abuse rather than organize an investigation.

"No one wanted to know" when Dando raised concerns about the alleged ring and other sexual abuse claims at the BBC, according to a former colleague and friend.

"I don't recall the names of all the stars now and don't want to implicate anyone, but Jill said they were surprisingly big names.

"I think she was quite shocked when told about images of children and that information on how to join this horrible paedophile ring was freely available.

"Jill said others had complained to her about sexual matters and that some female workmates also claimed they had been groped or assaulted.

"Nothing had been done and there seemed to be a policy of turning a blind eye."

The former colleague said female BBC staff confided in Jill, one of the best-known TV faces of the day after fronting primetime shows including Holiday and the Six O'Clock News as well as Crimewatch.

‘Legendary former American football coach Joe Paterno had known years before
Jerry Sandusky’s arrest that his longtime assistant might be sexually abusing
children.Michael McQueary, his other assistant, had told Paterno about “an extreme
sexual act occurring between Sandusky and a young boy” in a locker room in 2001,
according to Pennsylvania state police report obtained by CNN.

According to the police report cited on Saturday, which was written after
Sandusky’s arrest 10 years later, Paterno allegedly responded to McQueary by
saying this “was the second complaint of this nature he had received”.

McQueary’s revelations led to Sandusky’s conviction in 2012 for sexually abusing 10
boys over 15 years. He is currently serving a 30-year prison sentence.

Paterno was the head coach of the Penn State football team from 1966 to 2011. His
career ended with his dismissal from the team in November 2011 as a result of the
Penn State child sex abuse scandal.’

possessed by the Devil himself has finally been deciphered using an algorithm
found, oddly enough, on the Dark Web.

Sister Maria Crocifissa della Concezione was writing letters at the convent of Palma
di Montechiaro on August 11 1676, when she claimed that Lucifer was attempting
to lure her into serving evil reports La Stampa.

She then wrote a note that included a variety of symbols and languages including
Greek, Cyrillic, Arabic and Runic. In the intervening centuries, scholars,

A national sex abuse inquiry will investigate claims in a police report that
former British Prime Minister Sir Edward Heath was a paedophile.

The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA), which was set
up after reports surfaced of sex abuse cases in public institutions including
the BBC and NHS, will review the outcome of Operation Conifer, the
Wiltshire police probe into sex abuse allegations against Heath.

The findings of Operation Conifer, led by Wiltshire Chief Constable Mike Veale,
is due to be published in the next few weeks.

"The inquiry will be interested to see and consider the outcome of Wiltshire
Police's investigation into allegations against Sir Edward Heath," a spokesperson
for the IICSA told the Mail on Sunday (MoS).

More than 30 people have come forward and accused the former prime minister,
who died in 2005 at the age of 89, of sex abuse.

Heath, who never married, served as British Prime Minister from 1970 to 1974 and
was Leader of the Conservative Party from 1965 to 1975. He was considered
"completely asexual" by friends and colleagues.

One of the accusations is that Heath raped a 12-year-old boy in 1961. He has also
been accused of abusing a prison officer in North Yorkshire.


Veale is allegedly "120%" convinced that the allegations are true, according to a source
close to the investigation.

"There are very close similarities in the accounts given by those who have come forward.
The same names used for him, the same places and same type of incidents keep coming
up. What stands out is that the people giving these accounts are not connected but the
stories and the details dovetail," the source told the MoS earlier this year.

Veale faced pressure to call off the investigation after the Metropolitan Police was forced
to close its inquiry into the so-called Westminster VIP paedophile ring due to a lack of evidence.

James Gray, the Conservative MP for North Wiltshire, branded the £2 million inquiry an
"idiotic waste of public money" and a "pretty pointless investigation."

But Tory MP Andrew Bridgen urged Veale to continue with his probe and said there were
"powerful voices who would like to silence Operation Conifer."

"Veale must be allowed to complete his investigation, free of abuse, intimidation or pressure,
" Bridgen wrote in the MoS. "There should be no cover-up, regardless of any embarrassment
to the Conservatives – or anyone else," he said.
