The Loa Giants: Researcher Defends the Existence of a Civilization of Giants

Alberto Nadgar Rojas, researcher, visual artist, and photographer, defends the existence in northern Chile of an ancient civilization of giants as a hypothesis to explain what may be the biggest geoglyphs in the world. He explained to Ancient Origins that some geoglyphs are atypical because they contain many designs and predominantly geometric forms, in comparison to the classical anthropomorphic geoglyphs of the Inca culture.

The researcher discovered the geoglyphs himself four years ago and says that they are evidence of the existence of a civilization that preceded the Incas by many years. In his opinion, proof of this is found in a kind of writing that is present on one of them : the largest one - which measures 480 meters (1574.8 feet). According to his hypothesis, the writing also suggests that ancient Sumerians or Egyptians could have visited northern Chile thousands of years ago.

It is also very possible that the whole area was a great ancestral multi-cultural scene and related to astronomy, or perhaps agriculture. During more than four years of Nadgar’s research he has found evidence for large 3 and 4 way aqueducts and several kilometer long grooves, along with trails, ideograms, and diverse symbolism.

Nadgar told Ancient Origins that he plans to use a drone to capture high resolution images from the air and to study the site along with an epigraphist specialized in ancient writing. For the researcher, these forgotten and ancient cultures "used the ground as if it were a calligraphy notebook with equidistant space to inscribe their symbols or writing, which in some cases are very similar to Sumerian or Hebrew."

The following are his own version of the facts, the story of his work, and his conclusions thus far, written by Nadgar in the first person.

A long time ago, around 3,000 to 5,000 years BC, there was a race of giants in the oasis of the present city of Calama measuring between 3 to 5 meters (9.8-16.4 ft.) tall. It is believed they cultivated the land in a natural and humid environment and exchanged their crops, along with their culture, to other peoples of South America and other transoceanic cultures.

Calama comes from the word Kara- Aama meaning "water drenched ground." There are many questions about this town, with its origins perhaps coming from Asia, Europe, or Africa. There is photographic evidence suggesting this hypothesis, and in my four years of research I have compiled several examples to support it. Of course, like all studies, it should be reviewed and accepted by a competent body.

Traces of Gigantic Beings

The site is 6 x 2 kilometers (3.7-1.2 miles) and contains some of the most important enigmas of this latitude: in addition to the geoglyphs of these gigantic creatures that inhabited Loa thousands of years ago, I have obtained photographs where footprints are evident every 1.5 meters (4.9 ft.)

These are giant footprints of at least 60 cm (23.6 inches) long. There are so many that I did a study to determine the proportion of the footprints compared with those of a normal human, and the results concluded that whoever left the steps should have measured at least 3.70 meters (12.1 ft.) tall.
