In the first in-studio interview, Ryan sits down with Andrew Sanford, host of the current events comedy podcast, Half White Son of a Black Man. Being an open-minded skeptic, Andrew comes on the show to hear some of the more convincing aspects of the UFO mystery. They also discuss the 1938 War of the Worlds radio broadcast that shook the nation, the Travis Walton incident, and the heavy power of belief systems in respect to UFOs. They round out the conversation with a light-hearted segment from Andrew's podcast called "Explain". It was a refreshing mash-up of podcasts, and certainly won't be the last we hear from the half-white son of a black man!

Today In Space | June 12 1967 : Venera 4 Launched On A Mission To Venus

50 years ago today, Venera 4 was launched into space on a mission to Venus, thus becoming the first spacecraft to transmit data from another planet’s atmosphere.

This was a Russian probe designed to study the atmosphere of Venus down to the surface.

At first, scientists believed that the probe transmitted until contact with the surface of Venus. But in actuality, transmissions ended at an altitude of 16 miles (or 27 km) when the extreme temperatures and high atmospheric pressure crushed the probe.

But from the data collected by Venera 4, we learned that the surface temperatures were 500 degrees Celsius and the pressure was 75 times more than the Earth's. It also found that Venus' atmosphere was composed of 90 – 95% carbon dioxide with no nitrogen.

And that's what happened, Today in Space!

This week on The Gralien Report, we take a moment to revisit one of the most popular urban legends from the area of Fouke Arkansas, before making the comparison between this legendary tale of a “monster” and a recent sighting of a “feral looking man” in Wales. Elsewhere, several Brazilian residents have been suffering a spate of vampire bat attacks, and further below sea level, a “faceless” fish was recently discovered during a deep sea expedition off the Australian coast.

Then turning our attention over to the ongoing search for alien life, how could neutrinos help us understand the ways aliens may try to communicate, either with us, or with each other? Then we look at a rather dubious-sounding claim about the infamous 1947 Roswell encounter in New Mexico, as Hobbo gives us some perspective on the claims in light of the upcoming 70th anniversary of the event. Then in a surprise turn of events, we are joined by our on again, off again Area 51 informant “Victor”, who gives us some perspectives on secret planes carrying passengers back and forth from a Las Vegas airport.

Then in hour two, we are joined by Dr. Scott J. Kolbaba, a medical practitioner whose own strange experience led him begin documenting stories from other doctors and clinical professionals about unexplained things they have witnessed or experienced. After three years of research, this led Kolbaba to write the book Physicians Untold Stories, a collection of stories where doctors and others describe seemingly unexplained phenomena that affected them in personally deepening ways. Do these sorts of “untold stories” provide evidence of certain phenomenon which are as-yet undocumented by science?

Dave Shock - Satellite UFO Research | Michael Kimelman - Wall St. Confessions

The first satellite for UFO research is being planned and intended to search low-Earth orbit for any sign of unidentified objects. In the first half, Dave Shock, the project coordinator of CubeSat For Disclosure joined Richard Syrett to discuss his team's mission to bring this satellite to reality. Shock says the shoebox-sized device will contain two cameras, "one pointing down and one pointing up." He believes that the crowd-funded project has a good chance to photograph anomalous objects in space, as well as measure any fluctuations in magnetic fields or radiation readings with other instruments on board. It is scheduled to launched in early 2018 into a polar orbit at 193 miles above the planet. The satellite will be aloft for approximately three months until the orbit decays and it burns up in the atmosphere.
Shock is hoping that the satellite not only captures photos and other data, but will also report on any UFOs and allow ground-based observers to confirm sightings in real time, since it will be sending live photos every five seconds while it remains in space. Because of its orbit over the north and south poles, it will be able to image the entire surface of the Earth as the planet rotates beneath. By U.S. law, any private satellite can be turned off by the government "in time of national emergency," but Shock says that this has never been invoked and doesn’t expect this to happen with his group's device. He believes that the project "may be the beginning of something really big."


Michael Kimelman had a good run as the co-founder of a hedge fund. But he was arrested as part of a huge insider trading case, and while he was offered a "sweetheart" no-jail probation plea, he refused, maintaining his innocence. In the second half, Kimelman also discussed his time as an inmate after nearly two years behind bars, reflecting on his experiences before incarceration – rubbing elbows with financial titans and major figures in sports and entertainment, and making and losing hundreds of thousands of dollars in daily gambles on Wall Street. Kimelman began his career as a lawyer in a prestigious firm in New York City, until he became frustrated with the work and turned to a college buddy who worked in a proprietary trading company. Soon, he was a trader at DayTech, an organization with what he called an "eat what you kill" philosophy, which meant that employees were only paid if they made money on stock trades.
With a little experience under his belt, Kimelman then co-founded his own hedge fund company, Incremental Capital. The company became riddled with informants and taps on phones, emails, and instant messages in an effort to discover any wrongdoing. The FBI burst into his home at 5AM on Novermber 5, 2009, and arrested Kimelman for insider trading. He blamed the charges and subsequent jail time his former hedge fund friends and a sense of revenge directed at Wall Street by the U.S. Government as well as the public outcry after the economic collapse of late 2008. Rather than go after the real source of the disaster (such as mortgage fraud) Kimelman maintains that government investigators and prosecutors were engaged in "career calculus" to concentrate on easy and popular cases to make them look good to both the public and employers when they left government service. He also decried the concept of "criminal conspiracy," which he says is often used in a way that is "a pretty outrageous corruption of civil liberties."

Dr. Irena Scott received her PhD from the University of Missouri in physiology, did post-doctoral research at Cornell University, has been an Assistant Professor at St. Bonaventure University, and has done research and teaching at The Ohio State University, the University of Missouri, the University of Nevada, and at Battelle Memorial Institute. She worked for the Defense Intelligence Agency and the Aerospace Center in satellite photography, was a volunteer astronomer at the Ohio State University Radio Observatory. Her publications include books and articles in scientific journals, magazines, and newspapers, including as a correspondent for Popular Mechanics magazine. She served on the MUFON Board of Directors (1993 to 2000), is a MUFON consultant in physiology and astronomy and a field investigator. She co-edited eight symposium proceedings, has been a State Section Director for Ohio MUFON, was a founding member of the Mid-Ohio Research Associates (MORA) and its journal editor.

Her latest book is titled UFOs Today: 70 Years of Lies & Misinformation. In this interview, we cover the contents of the book, including the decades of work Irena has put in investigating the UFO phenomenon. Her professional work has also included working with organizations that are alleged to have been part of secret government UFO research. We talk about insights she may have gained on whether these rumors are true.
