What to do the next time it rains fish:
Preserve fish in near ice cold water.
Note the time.
Take it to a forensics expert.
Claims are about them coming from waterspouts. somehow, no one ever sees these 'waterspouts', or sees them pick the fish up.
The forensic expert will be able to tell if that given fish was pulled out of water and taken to a great height in the air, and how long it has been out of the water. They will be able to give an assessment of the damage. The damage/trauma the fish has suffered can be compared to expected damage/trauma from being dumped from a great height.
Regarding fish and waterspouts..sure thing, buds. I always note that when the surface of the water is highly disturbed..that fish hang around the spot, waiting to be picked up.... Sure, right.
