Default The phrase "More Money than God": Where does it come from ?

    ..
    -

In some USA based TV-series I have heard
that phrase a lot lately. "more money than god"
(he has, she has, who cares ..).

    - Implied, of course, that the one with
the most money would be king of the hill ..
    ( or even a mockary of g*d h*mself ..).

It should be selfevident that a true god
do not seak monetary (mortal) advantage

And can create anything out of nothing ,
    - all on (personal/free) will .....

So, if g*d constantly creates something
out of nothing, anyway, where does
money enter into discussion ( do it )

The son of God walked on water .
You can not do that if you so do carry
too much gold (weight) along with you ,.

Free. Weightless . Just be ....

Be well, & be welcome to add
    something to this thread

    ;- )

    Dear Noxon,
The fact that society assigns wealth such great importance is partly why we are at the place here we are now. To transfer the notion that God must have money is just the epitome of the convoluted mis understanding of happiness, personal power, and real life purpose being hijacked by a ponsi scheme that enslaves. Imagine if all children were taught in school to look inside yourself and develop your gifts and interests to bless yourself and serve mankind, rather than choose a profession that will make you into a lifetime consumer seeking material stuff in place of the glory that can feel by honoring your true purpose. imagine how we as humanity would grow if each human soul was considered valuable just by being incarnate on this planet.

Thank you so much Noxon for this thread,
In so much that we are created by this "poor" God or source of all life, we are able to find a great wealth in things that are totally free. Things that are only imagined in an individuals mind's eye by looking out to others and seeing ourselves and recognizing that we are all brothers and sisters on this planet whirling through time. Finding one's purpose is difficult AND priceless, as we are all influenced by what is heralded as important, and yet we all value different things that serve to help us recognize our true purpose! Imagine no money needed to survive, imagine no person needed to tell you what to do, imagine no needs going unmet because WE have the means and the ability to solve the biggest problems.

I am not at all about playing the blame game, but I think we really need to just look inside ourselves and figure things out without the influence of money. We can unslave ourselves by owning up to our potential.

I am not sure where you wanted this thread to go, but I can sense that you too believe in our own innate ability to figure things out and fix them for the betterment of our future. If I have derailed this thread in one direction I am sorry. I don't have all the answers just a deep hope and an enduring faith that it will be done. It has to, there is no other way.

Could hardly be more trivial, but this was kind of fun to read.

    - I searched the phrase on Google, "why do people say more money than god"
I've heard this phrase in movies, I've even heard my younger sister say it. "He has more money than god". It is said in a positive way. To me, it has always sounded absurd. So, if you search google for that phrase, you will find the first result is this thread of your forum: https://projectavalon.net/forum4/show...s-it-come-from

Since we've already risen this zombie from the grave...

    to the OP:

I think it is just an example of the tendency that leads humans to exaggerate for emphasis.

More money than god would be an impossible thing to achieve (given that god is the creator of all etc..).

This is the kind of language my kids use with each other. I've found it fascinating that more often than not words like "always" and "never" and other absolute terms are heavily used and when examples or metaphors are given the examples are absurdly extreme.

I wonder if this is an innate recognition that the further polarized an idea is, the more attention it gets; I suppose it's learned. Our current society certainly teaches this "seeking the extreme" as "normal" mentality.

    Where are you?
