Sex acts with animals are legal in Canada, so long as there is no penetration involved, according to a surprise ruling issued by the Supreme Court.

The determination stemmed from a case involving a British Columbia man convicted of 13 counts sexually assaulting his stepdaughters - including one count of bestiality. But the man, identified only as "DLW", was acquitted of the bestiality count with the new ruling.



DLW's attorneys argued that bestiality linked to "buggery" - or sodomy - with animals beginning with an 1892 criminal code. Bestiality was first used in a 1955 code, but still was not defined to encompass every sex act with animals.

"Although bestiality was often subsumed in terms such as sodomy or buggery, penetration was the essence - 'the defining act' - of the offence," the court said.

Thus, the court ruled by a 7–1 majority that bestiality required penetration.

“There is no hint in any of the parliamentary record that any substantive change to the elements of the offence of bestiality was intended,” the ruling reads.

According to court record DLW smeared peanut butter on the genitals of his victims and had the family dog lick it off while he videotaped the act.

I have waited all these months for any evidence that the NYPD actually did get the contents of Weiner's laptop to someone before the FBI came in to clean up things, with supposed incriminating evidence for so much that would take the Clinton and the Podestas' down.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has failed to form her proposed government after a coalition partner pulled out of negotiations Sunday.

Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU), its sister party the Christian Social Union, the Green party and the pro-business Free Democrats (FDP) have not been able to agree on issues regarding immigration and the environment after two months of negotiations. FDP pulled out of talks Sunday after realizing the parties were too far apart to find common ground within the near future.

“It is better not to govern than to govern badly,” FDP leader Christian Lindner told reporters. “We don’t blame anyone for sticking to their principles. But we also do so ourselves. We were voted for to reverse the current trends, but we couldn’t reach an agreement.”

Merkel is now left with a number of undesirable alternatives less than two months after she won her fourth general election. She can either seek a minority government with the Greens or call a snap election. The third alternative of negotiating with Social Democrats seems unlikely since the parties drifted apart during the election campaign.

The chancellor apologized for the chaos, saying she thought the coalition was “on a path where we could have reached an agreement.” Merkel further stressed she would “do everything to ensure that this country comes out well through this difficult time.”

A ZDF poll released Friday shows that 68 percent of Germans, and a majority from all the parties involved, want a snap election during the current circumstances.
