Default Garden of Life sells out to Nestlé

Another good company bites the dust. Don't necessarily believe too much of what their CEO is obliged to write. Of course, this is all about (a) money, and (b) Codex Alimentarius.
Garden of Life Will Become Part of Nestlé

    Dear Garden of Life Fans,

Today, we announced exciting news that Garden of Life will become part of Nestlé. We are thrilled. This combination signals that USDA Organic and Non-GMO Project Verified nutrition, based on real, whole and plant-based foods, has a seat at the world’s largest tables.

When we started looking at our future and our growth, we realized we just could not do it alone. In order to scale true Organics (Certified USDA Organic) and real Non-GMO (Non-GMO Project Verified) ingredients, and provide more people with high-quality, meaningful products at prices they can afford, we needed the help and expertise of a worldwide leader. So, we actually set out on a mission to find a partner that would honor our values, embrace our mission and help us fulfill Garden of Life’s true potential.

I spent time getting to know the people at Nestlé, their vision and their values. I saw first-hand how much we have in common. They have no plans to change us — what we do, what we stand for or what we believe. Our commitment to truly traceable practices, proven through third-party certifications — Certified USDA Organic and Non-GMO Project Verified, Gluten Free, NSF and Informed Choice Certified, and most of all, B CORP — is foundational to who we are. Nestlé sees our value and wants to help us as we pursue our mission.

I plan to be very open with you as we take our steps forward with Nestlé. I want you to know that we are, and will always remain, the same great brand you’ve trusted for so many years. Our mission is to Empower Extraordinary Health, and to fulfill that mission, we will continue to bring to market the most innovative Certified USDA Organic and Non-GMO Project Verified foods and supplements without compromise.

We thank you for your support of the Garden of Life brand. Without you, we wouldn’t be where we are today.

    Healthy Regards,
    Brian Ray

Being in dietary supplement business for 18 years (has it been THAT long?), I can say this is not necessarily bad news. On the contrary, this shows a signal as big companies cannot overlook consumer's demand for more healthy, more natural products. I havent worked with Nestle as a consultant (I have some companies which you may call "Big Pharma" on my consultancy portfolio) but I know they have high scientific standarts which is good.

Also being a follower/writer/lecturer of alternative culture for 22 years (yes it has been THAT long!) since my university days, I can say being "awaken" does not mean being pessimistic and seeing only the bad side of everything. I guess this is what called "spiritual bypassing".

Its the same as Glaceau / Energy Brands which started the brand Vitamin Water. In 2007 it was bought by Coca Cola. It was a good move as the market was shifting to non-carbonated "health drinks".
For the globalist, its a matter of market share and extending their tentacles everywhere, and also a good business sense.

At the end of the day, it gives the consumer fewer options when they want to buy from independents, and that is a sad thing.

Perhaps in this case they are sensing that GMO foods are not well received by the public and they are hedging.

Maybe the masses are slowly awakening?

I think the jury is still out on some of the large company acquisitions. Not all of them have been bad but a lot have tinkered with the recipe formulas. The truth is ... Organics are exploding and the masses are awakening to the GMO, pesticide and chemical manipulation of food like products. In the beginning this is a move for making more money and a greater market share in the organic food market. I think that this is beneficial in the short term for getting organics to a larger audience in the short term. BUT the business practices of NESTLE make me have a weeeeeeeeeeee bit of concern.
I think the real concern is the long term. When Codex Alimentarious really takes hold with the globalists. These companies can shelf their organic companies and police the smaller organic companies out of the market all together. Then back to the Globalist agenda!

    Hmmmm.

I stopped taking Garden Of Life supps after Jordan Rubin left the company. For all I know their supplements remained exactly the same, but the trust factor left me for some reason.

Same applies here. Perhaps their line of products are still very good, but this whole thing gives me an ominous feeling. Nestle? It's just weird. That's like Jarrow merging with Hershey's or Kraft Foods. It doesn't make any sense at all from a product perspective. Just from a $ perspective, it would appear.

Yes, Cardillac and all, exactly. “. . . spent time getting to know the people at Nestlé, their vision and their values.” Sure. Their advertising text is as cynical as it can get. They spit in people’s faces and expect them to smile and say thank you. Apologies for the language.

NESTLE, also bought GERBER BABY FOOD, many years ago (maybe 30 yrs). I had a relative that worked for Gerber's at the time, and chose to retire a bit early, based on what began happening after the acquisition. All R & D was shut down, plus quality control began to lose it's importance.

Also,Nestle owns water rights in California, which I believe they only pay $500/year for taking millions of gallons of water, and then they bottle it and sell it back to us for great profit. All this when we were on water restriction here in California due to severe drought.

It seems it's a big move for Nestle - and consists not only Gatrden of Life - but Atrium Innovations products alltogether*.

As I said - being in dietary supplement business for 18 years, I would like to see concrete evidence of trusting a brand when in hands of "Atrium Innovations", but claiming the same brand will go bad in the hands of Nestle - rather than personal opinions and beliefs. Sorry for being a kind of devil's advocate, but this is NOT** alternative culture is about.

Quote Atrium’s largest brand, Garden of Life®, is a leading brand in the U.S. natural supplement and manufactures certified organic, non-GMO supplements. Pure Encapsulations® is a full line of hypoallergenic, research-based dietary supplements, and is a leading recommended brand in the U.S. practitioner market. Pure Encapsulations’ product line is free from food allergens, GMOs, fillers, binders and artificial colors. Other specialty brands in the Atrium portfolio include Wobenzym®, Douglas Laboratories®, Genestra Brands™, Orthica®, AOV®, Minami®, Klean Athlete®, Pharmax and Trophic™. ***

    * Atrium Innovations has very good brands besides Garden of Life - as Douglas Labs or Wobenzyme.

** Making up claims based on stereotypes: "wuuu, if it's an international company, then it is evil!"

Thanks Frenchy, I hadn't seen that "interview", but I must agree the spokeswoman seemed suspiciously like Sophia, the first Robot citizen of Saudi Arabia. I definitely don't feel like it was a real person. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxf9UtltFuY

Appreciate the heads up. I chuckled at their comment that real organic food is that which is certified by the USDA...and real non-GMO is non-GMO project verified!

    Healthy Regards,
