DR. JOHN BRANDENBURG is a plasma physicist working as a consultant at Morningstar Applied Physics LLC and as a part-time instructor of Astronomy, Physics and Mathematics at Madison College, and other learning institutions in Madison, Wisconsin.

He previously worked at Orbital Technologies on space plasma technologies, nuclear fusion, and advanced space propulsion. He is the principle inventor of the MET (Microwave Electro-Thermal) plasma thruster using water propellant for space propulsion. He has worked on: SDI, the Clementine Mission to the Moon, Rocket Plume-Regolith Interactions on the Moon and Mars, Vortex theory of Rocket engine design and the combined Sakharov-Kaluza-Klein theory of Field Unification for purposes of space propulsion and Mars science.

Dr. Brandenburg has authored the popular science books Life and Death on Mars (2010), Beyond Einstein’s Unified Field (2011) and Dead Mars, Dying Earth (1999) with Monica Rix Paxson. Ursid Meteor Shower 2017

The annual Ursid meteor shower always peaks near the time of the December solstice, so, in 2017, look for some possible activity over the next several nights.

The forecast calls for the night of December 21-22 or December 22-23 to be the peak night. The meteor activity begins annually around December 17 and runs for a week plus, until the 25th or 26th.

The Ursids produce a handful of meteors or shooting stars every hour, usually in the range of five to 10 per hour. However, this shower has been known to produce short bursts of over 100 meteors per hour.

This meteor shower is named for its radiant point which is located near the star Beta Ursae Minoris in the constellation Ursa Minor. Meteors will appear to be streaming out from the radiant, but they can show up all across the sky.

The Ursids are associated with Comet 8P/Tuttle, which was discovered in 1790 and then re-discovered by Horace Tuttle in 1858. The comet has a period of 14 years. The Ursids occur when Earth passes through the trail of dust and debris left along the comet's orbit.

The shower itself was first recorded in England in 1900, and also spotted in Germany in the decades following.

You need only your eyes to see meteor showers; in fact, binoculars and telescopes are a bad idea, because they narrow your field of view. Find a place as far away from lights as possible, especially since the Ursids are faint.
Prop yourself up so you are facing nearby Ursa Minor, and dress warmly if it's cold. You'll have best results after giving your eyes about 20-30 minutes to adjust to the darkness.

Shooting stars are more officially called meteors. Before they hit the Earth's atmosphere, they are called meteoroids. Meteors that reach the ground are called meteorites, although it's very uncommon for the debris that makes up meteor showers to make it down without totally burning up in the atmosphere, because these pieces are so small.

Dr Horace Drew | Decoding Crop Circles | Messages From Crop Circles In 2017

Dr Horace Drew is well known to our audience due to his previous presentations. Each year he travels to Britain to examine and analyse the new crop circles, especially around the Stonehenge, Silbury Hill and Avebury areas. He has interpreted the binary code seen in several crop circles and believes the crop circles are messages made by time travelling ETs.

Horace has a PhD in Chemistry from Caltech and has worked for CSIRO. He witnessed a UFO in Florida in 1965 which stirred his interest in pursuing a career in science.

For this presentation he plans to review the most important recent messages from crop circles, including those of the European summer in 2017.

He will show some of Matthew Williams’ 2017 Crop Circle movie, which is a visual feast covering some of the most beautiful and complex crop circle designs.

One highlight his presidential UFO research was the chance to question Vice-president Dick Cheney on his knowledge of the UFO subject. Another highlight of the presidential UFO research was a FOIA to the White House Office of Science and Technology which yielded 1,000 pages of UFO documents from the Clinton administration. An astronaut, a VC/space entrepreneur and the legendary author of Apollo 13 walked into a consulate to discuss traveling to Mars, Presidential pronouncements on space exploration, and the tech/venture funding of space… so it must be TechFest at the French Consulate in New York City. The Consul General of France in New York, Anne-Clair Legendre, presided over the ceremonies.
