    Default Skin "rejuvenation" cream ingredients?

I am looking for recommendations on what to put on skin to help it rejuvenate. Regular skin creams (I think are mostly oil and an emulsifier) are OK for dry skin, but don't have any (or enough) nutrients to make much difference.

Imagine the very thin skin near or over a leg ulcer, maybe on a diabetic. Or imagine skin that got abraded off in an accident and has grown back, but thin and "friable." There must be trans-dermal nutrients that can help the body grow and/or repair skin better than just emulsified oil.

My instincts tell me that the most effective skin cream would probably contain animal products, but "vegetarian" ingredients would hold the greatest interest for me. In addition, any ingestable nutrients that would help skin will be of interest.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this.

I've been using a body polish which is coconut based and contains Pink H.Salt and cedar extract. Simple really and you can make it yourself, may be too abrasive for what you are looking for, mine has a high salt content but the results are fantastic. The coconut oil is not the same as other oils, and your skin can still absorb it and breathe.

I can vouch for the Aloe Vera! I don't know if it can actually heal scars, but I've seen it help treat burns and prevent scarring. It's kind of amazing.
I found this too, kind of old article, but it's cute how much they love Aloe The headline is cute too: Scarred for Life? Not with Aloe!

Dennis, sorry to hear about your skin issues. I use plain old coconut oil on my skin - any brand that's organic and virgin would probably work fine. I tend to not buy prepared creams because they are so expensive and generally contain a bunch of unnecessary chemicals. I once had someone tell me to never put anything on my skin that I wouldn't eat, because everything you put on your skin is directly absorbed into the body. Avocado oil is pretty good too, but its a bit more greasy. Oils, however, are generally just a barrier to keep the skin from further damage, so I'm not sure how much healing they actually provide on their own.

Another recommendation I have is silica. Silica is generally good for skin and bones and finger/toe nails. You can buy silica supplements which are often just made out of the herb horsetail.

The last recommendation I have - and not for the squeamish - is to combine a little bit of coconut oil with a bit of your own fresh urine. (Do not store this combination. Make a small enough amount that you use it all up each time.) There are a whole bunch of creams in the drug store that are made with urea, and which they charge a whole bunch of money for. I choose to be thrifty and make my own. A few times in the past when I've had extremely dry and fragile skin on my hands, I've used this trick of combining even just a teaspoon of coconut oil with a quarter teaspoon of fresh urine, and been amazed at the results. There may be a bit of an odor, so you need to manage that in a way that works for you, but for some reason it seems to be very healing for the skin.

    Good luck!

I once used Glycolic Acid 12%.. It works only for first time. After that I used it, but dosent work.

So I recommend you first use 6% cream. Then later on when you want to use it again use 12%. But I still think the first time usage is most effective.

It will remove all blemishes, scars, pimples and wrinkles from your face.

There are other AHA peels also like Lactic Acid, Salicylic Acid but Glycolic acid is widely used.

There is one new chemical that is getting famous recently.

Terinoin or Retinol or Retin A or Retino A

Its a form of Vitamin A. It enters into the cells and the nucleus of the cells and repairs them. People are using this cream with Glycolic acid. Means applying Glycolic acid on day and another day Tretinoin. Or Tretinoin in night Glycolic acid in morning.

VITAMIN A creams or Supplementation should not be taken while planning to get pregnant. As Vitamin A enters into the nucleus and pushes DNA to repair things. What happens is after fertilization of egg if mothers takes Vitamin A it will induce some things in the embryo that damages its normal growth. Because it is accustomed to grow in normal circumstances with less Vitamin A and other nutrients.

I've heard about glycolic acid, as Kanishk mentioned. Chemical peels can be down with aspirin/liquid salicylic acid

I've been high Vit A foods recently and it helps a LOT. I feel skin rejuvenation is better from the inside. Carrots, sweet potatoes and oranges are best, but I only really saw results when I started eating duck liver, kidneys and heart... which I am loathe to do.

Tupentine helped.. might complement cocnut oil.

When we take vegetable based Vitamin A it has to be converted into Active form of Vitamin A by the body. Therefore as I heard, Virgin Fish Oils makes the good source of active form of Vitamin A.

^^^ This may be correct. We'd have to look at how the gut converts Vit A, and maybe take some of the precursors or co-factors. There's a South African guy who's dermarolled and used Vit A cream on his face for years. He's 70 odd and looks 50.

BTW, Carrots, Sweet potatoes and oranges are extremely healthy foods in their own right. Maybe I only saw good results when my Vit A levels were high enough from the organ meats.

I can vouch for prescription Vitamin A creams. I have been using them for 20 years and have been (I'm not proud of this but just being honest) extremely hard on my skin. We used to bake on the beach in the 60's and 70's, I have smoked since I was 14 (56 now) and had quite a bit of alcohol in my life.

However, I have also exercised regularly since I was 28 or so. Oxygen is the best.

Also Vitamin C that permeates the skin, such as Cellex C. Creams that have C in them don't really penetrate. The acting agent is alpha lipoic acid and it works.

    Hello Dennis!

I make my own skin cream. I use Coconut Oil and then mix in the essential oils that will help. I also like using Almond Oil alone on dry skin. I recently had foot surgery and to help with the scar healing and inflammation I used my two favorites, Lavender Oil and Frankincense mixed in Coconut Oil. I will also use both Lavender and Frankincense oils in a diffuser on my nightstand while I sleep. There are several herbs that are good for the skin. Here are the ones that I am familiar with and have used.

    1. Lavender - Has, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, anti-toxic, antibacterial and antiseptic properties. Has linalool that assists with skin healing while also preventing tissue degeneration keeping skin firm and preventing wrinkles. It also has cytophylactic properties that encourage the growth of new skin cells. Lavender can help heal wounds, scar tissue, acne, eczema and problem skin.

    2. Frankincense - Has anti-inflammatory properties. It is anti-aging and a wrinkle fighter. Naturally slows signs of aging.

    3. Chamomile - Helps accelerate the healing process of the skin. Has anti-irritant and anti-inflammatory properties.

    4. Witch Hazel - Helps heal acne. Has anti-inflammatory properties

    5. Aloe Vera - Moisurizes the skin. Rich in Vitamin C & E helps kill bacteria.

    6. Calendula - Has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and anti-viral properties. Helps heal wounds, soothes damaged skin, can help treat eczema.

    Dennis,

Here is what I would recommend taking internally for your skin. Actually for your whole body!

Diatomaceous Earth 1 tsp in a glass of water each day.

"Silica plays an important role in promoting healthy bones, teeth, skin, tendons, blood vessels, nails, and hair. This basic mineral serves as a building block for so much of your body's structure."

I will take this for a few weeks, then go off of it for about a month, then back on it, etc...

If you don't like it in water and want to hide the taste, you can mix it into juice or a smoothie!

That makes sense. In my experience I've found serums to be much better than creams too.

Here's a bit more info about serums: https://intothegloss.com/2016/03/what-is-serum/

    Quote What is serum?
Serum is a skincare product you can apply to your skin after cleansing but before moisturizing with the intent of delivering powerful ingredients directly into the skin.

I love this product and for the price it's well worth it. Formulated by the well known Dr. Group, BIO-PCA has 10,000 mcg of Biotin in 2 pills. At 29.95 a bottle for a one month supply it's reasonable to maintain. It contains the perfect proprietary blend of other nutrients including Collagen and Silica. Even better is when Alex puts it on sale for 19.95 a bottle, that's the time to stock up.

Here's a good video on the benefits of Biotin for the skin:

    A few things to research:

Organic Borage oil - for the GLA (or another source of GLA)
Hyaluronic Acid - you can get non-animal sources, unsure if as effective.
    Vitamin C

And certainly the A and B vitamins as mentioned in earlier posts - in the least ensure there is adequate intake. Especially the B's - even above daily value recommendations.

    Copper might also be beneficial.

Anecdotally, I hugely recommend high dose MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) - at least 1000mg (preferrably 5000+/day (there's no side effects)) and/or find foods that are rich in it (not sure if you can get that qty from nature though). It does wonders for the skin, and for me adds a bit of rich plumpness to it. Tends to close open pores and make it softer too. This one is the only one I have direct skin improving experience with, and I will say that it has a pretty good impact. One needs to to take it for at least a full month though before they might notice effects. I noticed improvement in one week (@5000mg/day) but everyone is different. Ensure high quality source.

Cow mint. It's a cream that is used on cow's udders' to keep them in tip-top condition.

People use it for all sorts of ailments in humans, I remember my Grandmother used it as a face-cream. She didn't look a day older than 70 when she died.................. at 63.

Shea butter is healing to the skin. There is a product that combines it with jojoba oil that makes it very emollient ("Innescents Shea Butter"). it is on Amazon.com. In my experience, natural oils - even a little greasy - help the skin heal. The skin can absorb the nutrients and it protects the skin.

Hi Dennis, if you're looking to get rid of scar tissue or something similar, serrapeptase may be worth trying. It's taken internally, as a pill. Besides scar removal, it has numerous other benefits.

For what it's worth, I have a friend who used it for a nasty knee scar and he said it got rid of it and replaced it with healthy skin.
