Trump breaks protocol during Royal visit as he keeps Queen waiting 12 minutes and walks in front of her...causing her to shoo him out the way

Donald Trump has sparked outrage for his 'disrespectful' failure to follow royal protocol when he met the Queen on Friday. Trump not only turned his back on the Queen during his visit, but forced her to have to walk round him.

The president was late for his first meeting with the 92-year-old monarch who was waiting at Windsor Castle for between 12 and 15 minutes in the 80 degree F heat when he was late for their meeting on Friday.

The Queen can be seen in the footage checking her watch as she waited for the President and his First Lady.

The American leader and his wife both [later] offered the Queen handshakes which sparked online commentators to ask why they did not curtsey to her as a mark of respect.

The president's biggest faux pas came when he was invited to join the Queen to inspect the guard of honor. Video of the moment showed Trump turning his back on the monarch and marching ahead of her as they walked past the troops - in what was a serious breach of protocol.



The President looked out of step with the official choreography – causing the Queen to point tentatively and ask him to move to the left. However, Trump failed to pick up on the signal and instead came to an abrupt stop in front of her.

I could not help but snigger

Because nothing is done by accident. Nothing is done out of ignorance -- certainly not on the scale of meeting the Queen. I suspect this was absolutely deliberate on Trump's part, all part of the plan.

One should listen to David Icke's video on being "subjects"!! He can say it, being a Brit.... I wouldn't say Trump was rude to the Queen.....he is just who he is; whether we like it or not!

No offence at all Foxie, on the contrary From Trump's actions (or rather inactions) we do observe a definite shift. All previous Presidents correctly observed these silly deferential protocols, with perhaps the exception of Reagan in his later years due to his failing faculties (he once famously addressed Princess Diana as Prince Michael).

Trump's blatant indifference to House Windsor suggests that something has changed, and I think you're right - we (you, the US) aren't playing play by their rules anymore.

I really don't see what the problem is. As from what the commentator of The Sun says in the video (below),

The Queen then motions for Trump to move ahead of her. She then moves to the wrong side in order for Trump to view the troops. She then realizes that she would be between Trump & the troops & it would be more proper for her to be on the other side of Trump. Then, she moves behind Trump in order to properly position herself to the right side of Trump & next to him while he views the troops to his left.

So, its not Trump that makes the akward move, but the Queen herself that makes it look awkward.

It just more fake news propaganda. Trying to make Trump look like an idiot.

We now have hindsight and she discusses the transition team of Bush and how it should be handled versus what she was doing living in Obamas house plotting to take down Trump... I have to disagree with you on this one turiya. You can see by the Queen's gesturing that she was trying to remind Trump which way to go, while he just stood there and stared at her, forcing her to awkwardly bumble around behind him. He's exhibiting his typically alpha body language but he's also deliberately putting these foreign figureheads into embarrassing positions.

He does this all the time. He brushed invisible dandruff off of Macron's shoulder. He holds Theresa May by her arm while she's walking beside of him. He refused to shake Angela Merkel's hand, making her squirm in the chair beside of him trying to position herself to start one. He pushed his way to the front of a pack of leaders meeting in Europe, making Viktor Orban laugh out loud.

This is all definitely part of a wider signaling that we're not with the rest of the pack anymore. The Queen and European monarchies in general are at the heart of a lot of the rottenness in the world, just as the Bushes/Clinton/Obama combination here was also at the center of the exact same rottenness, right alongside of the European royals, bankers, megacorp CEOs and other world leaders.

None of this stuff is necessarily personal against the leaders themselves. Sometimes it's deliberate eye-for-an-eye jabbing, which Trump also absolutely engages in with these other world leaders, but there's also a very symbolic and almost ceremonial aspect to it, where he is throwing a wrench even into their beloved occult symbologies.

Or in this case, throwing his physical body into the way of the Queen and forcing a break-down in this ceremonial custom.

With those other countries, and even for the US, who is walking ahead of who and by how much etc. might not be a big deal, but in some societies and cultures ceremonial order is still very important because it's symbolic of who is in charge. Again, not always applicable, but in the medieval period, and for these very ceremonial monarchies that came out of the medieval period, they still have the idea of lèse majestie in some form or another, even if it's no longer punishable by law.

I read articles before Trump's visit with the Queen that included all the traditional etiquette observed, including not turning one's back on the Queen. Bowing is "optional" for a US president (the idea of a US president bowing to a British monarch is insulting to begin with; only idiots like Obama did that, George Washington never would have) and that much was acknowledged in these same articles, but turning a back to the Queen among various other things is considered an insult.


Btw, a lot of the etiquette that comes from medieval court customs carries over into business etiquette too. It's not particularly nice to turn your back on anyone in a formal setting, as a matter of fact.

I'm not saying I care that he did it. I think it's hilarious.
