China is set to land on the Dark Side of the Moon

China's Chang'e-4 probe decelerated and entered the lunar orbit this Wednesday 12 Dec 2018

the control center will adjust the probe's orbit around the moon and test the communication link between the probe and the relay satellite "Queqiao," which is operating in the halo orbit around the second Lagrangian (L2) point of the earth-moon system.

Afterward, the control center will choose a proper time to land the probe on the far side of the moon, according to CNSA.

International participation -

There are four scientific payloads on the Chang'e-4 mission developed by scientists from the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden and Saudi Arabia.

China's moon lander and rover for the Chang'e-4 lunar probe

The rover is a rectangular box with two foldable solar panels and six wheels. It is 1.5 meters long, 1 meter wide and 1.1 meters high.

Wu Weiren, the chief designer of China's lunar probe program, said the Chang'e-4 rover largely kept the shape and conditions of its predecessor, Yutu (Jade Rabbit), China's first lunar rover for the Chang'e-3 lunar probe in 2013.

Chang'e-4 lunar probe will land on the Aitken Basin of the lunar south pole region on the far side of the moon, which is a hot spot for scientific and space exploration.

Rocket Lab Launches NASA's ELaNa Mission

Rocket Lab will be launching their Electron rocket for NASA’a ELaNa XIX mission from LC-1 on the Mahia Peninsula in New Zealand.

ELaNa XIX is the first mission for NASA’s Venture Class Launch Services. 10 CubeSats from various NASA Centers and Universities will be deployed into a 500 km (310 mile) circular low Earth orbit with an inclination of 85 degrees.
