Mack Maloney grew up in the Dorchester section of Boston and was taught to read and write by the nuns at St. Ann's School. His father was a veteran of World War II and he used to read military books all the time. As a child, Mack started reading them too, along with a lot of science fiction. He received a BS in journalism and a graduate degree in filmmaking from Emerson College. He was a sports reporter for two years after college before joining corporate America as a publicist for General Electric Company. Mack started writing books in 1984, and have been doing it full time since 1987, penning over 40 books.

David O’Leary | Creator, Writer, & Producer Of History’s Project Blue Book

David O’Leary is the creator, a writer, and producer of History Channel’s upcoming series Project Blue Book. David’s passion for the UFO topic inspired him to create this series based on the U.S. government’s most famous UFO investigation, Project Blue Book. The series is fiction, but is based on real cases investigated in Project Blue Book and the two U.S. Air Force UFO investigations that came before it, Project Sign and Project Grudge. The main character is named and modeled after Dr. J. Allen Hynek, an astronomer who aided in the government investigations. Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones) plays Dr. Hynek, and Oscar-winner Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future, Contact) serves as an Executive Producer. The series premieres on January 8, 2019. David is also a Co-Producer on the horror film Eli, which Netflix will release in 2019 and an Associate Producer on Parallel, a sci-fi thriller from Bron Studios also set for a 2019 release.

In this episode, we discuss how David was able to get the show produced, his interest in the UFO topic, and his thoughts about the real-life UFO cases portrayed in the series. We also discuss how to balance the fiction with the facts while trying to entertain and represent real people and events as accurately as possible.

Project Blue Book premieres on the History Channel on January 8, 2018, at 9 pm central.

By his teens Topham had exhausted his local library’s supply of books on UFOs, ESP, and the like, so he joined Contact, a British UFO organisation, as well as subscribing to the Flying Saucer Review. With his mates from high school he got a small band of like minded teens together and they began to experiment with the Ouija board in the vain hope of contacting, ‘the space people’, as George Hunt Williamson wrote about them in "The Saucers Speak." Events escalated leading to bizarre Morse code signals on a domestic portable radio. Years later he was involved with another group, which met to use the board in an old Tudor Hall in Warwickshire, England. This period of activity included working alongside renowned psychic investigators Graham Philips and Andrew Collins. The results were exceptional and the group received many apports in the form of books. Gemstones, Cartouche cards and a wonderful photograph. Through the work of several groups, Charles became part of what is popularly known as Psychic Questing in Britain. Junkie on the other hand leads a double life: By day he serves as Grand Master in the International Sacred Order of Lucha Libre, but at night he pursues his life-long study of everything considered mysterious and/or 'paranormal' - a term he personally detests. When he's not exploring the web looking for his daily fix of Forteana, he can be found blogging, doodling, fooling around and offering his services as news administrator at The Daily Grail. He also regularly participates in other websites and podcasts like Mysterious Universe, The Grimerica Show and Where Did the Road Go? He impatiently awaits for the return of the mothership in Mexico City.

The Top Seven Must-See Sky Events For 2019

2018 was an exciting year for avid stargazers. In retrospective summary, it began with the Super Blood Moon and ended with the passing of Comet 46P/Wirtanen. The stargazing events in 2019 could be as wonderful as the last.

In January this year, a Super Blue Blood Moon rose across the sky, stunning stargazers around the world. Next year is set to be another year filled with astronomical events.

Super Blood Moon Eclipse
On January 20 and 21, a Super Blood Moon will rise across the winter skies.
This sees a Super Moon, Blood Moon and the January Wolf Moon all coincide to create the phenomenal event.

January’s full Moon is known as a Wolf Moon due to in Native American times, wolves would appear outside villages and howl in hunger at the Moon.
A Blood Moon is when the Moon takes a reddish hue, as it refracts light only in the red spectrum.

Venus and Jupiter Conjunction
The day after the Super Blood Wolf Moon, on January 22 a beautiful conjunction of two planets will take place. Venus and Jupiter will be just 2.4 degrees apart in the eastern sky during pre-dawn. There is another chance this could happen later in the year on November 24, when the planets may be even closer - just 1.4 degrees apart after sunset.

Blue Moon
Ther is a Blue Moon on May 2019. The May 18, full moon is a Blue Moon according to an older definition of the term. It’s a seasonal Blue Moon: the third of four full moons to occur in a single season. A Blue Moon by this definition only comes 7 times in 19 calendar years.

Total Solar Eclipse
In July, a rare total eclipse will take place. This total solar eclipse will be visible from small parts of Chile and Argentina just before sunset. Some regions in the Pacific and in South America, including locations in Ecuador, Brazil, Uruguay, and Paraguay will see a partial solar eclipse, if the weather permits.

Those in the areas it is visible can witness it on July 2, 2019, but remember to wear eye protection as the sun's rays can damage your eyes.

Black Moon Rising
There are many intriguing Moons, the Full Moon, the Supermoon, the Blue Moon, the Blood Moon, the Pink Moon and so many more. None, however, are as intriguing, or mysterious as the Black Moon. This rare Moon occurs just once every 32 months, and is set to rise on July 2019.

The Black Moon refers to the second New Moon within a month. And while the Moon itself will be pretty much invisible, it will, nonetheless, provide an incredible opportunity for stargazing since there will be a whole lot of darkness in the night sky.

Rare Transit of Mercury Across the Sun
Towards the end of the year on November 11, the last Transit of Mercury until 2032 will occur. This is where the disk of Mercury appears to cross the disk of the Sun as seen from Earth. It will be best seen from the eastern US, Central America and South America. This is an event that only happens 13 times per century and will next take place on November 13, 2032.

A Spectacular ‘Ring of Fire’ Eclipse
In December, a rare Annular Solar Eclipse will take place, known as a Ring of Fire eclipse. This event is when the Moon is a micro Moon, the furthest away from Earth it could possibly be - opposite to a supermoon.

This means that during the eclipse a ring appears around the Moon, as the Sun’s rays peek around the smaller Moon. As this is a solar eclipse, to observe it you will have to wear safety glasses or else risk damaging your eyes.

More recently, based on its anomalous acceleration as it moved away from the Sun, some scientists have even proposed that it may be a kind of alien technology.
