I am not convinced they are who they would like us to believe they are...

An under-the-radar startup funded by billionaire Eric Schmidt has become a major technology vendor for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, underscoring the bonds between Silicon Valley and Democratic politics.

The Groundwork, according to Democratic campaign operatives and technologists, is part of efforts by Schmidt—the executive chairman of Google parent-company Alphabet—to ensure that Clinton has the engineering talent needed to win the election. And it is one of a series of quiet investments by Schmidt that recognize how modern political campaigns are run, with data analytics and digital outreach as vital ingredients that allow candidates to find, court, and turn out critical voter blocs.

But campaigns—lacking stock options and long-term job security—find it hard to attract the elite engineering talent that Facebook, Google, and countless startups rely on. That’s also part of the problem that Schmidt and the Groundwork are helping Clinton’s team to solve.

The Groundwork is one of the Clinton campaign’s biggest vendors, billing it for more than $177,000 in the second quarter of 2015, according to federal filings. Yet many political operatives know little about it. Its website consists entirely of a grey-on-black triangle logo that suggests “the digital roots of change” while also looking vaguely like the Illuminati symbol:


“We’re not trying to obfuscate anything, we’re just trying to keep our heads down and do stuff,” says Michael Slaby, who runs the Groundwork. He was the chief technology officer for president Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign, a top digital executive for Obama 2012, and the former chief technology strategist for TomorrowVentures, Schmidt’s angel investment fund.

He explained that the Groundwork and its parent company, Chicago-based Timshel—which according to its website is named for a Hebrew word meaning “you may” and is devoted to “helping humanity solve our most difficult social, civic, and humanitarian challenges”—are “all one project, with the same backers,” whom he declined to name.

Schmidt did not respond to several requests for comment. But several Democratic political operatives and technologists, who would only speak anonymously to avoid offending Schmidt and the Clinton campaign, confirmed that the Groundwork is funded at least in part by the Alphabet chairman.

The Groundwork was initially based in an office in downtown Brooklyn just blocks from the headquarters of its biggest client: the Clinton campaign. There, a staff made up mostly of senior software engineers began building the tools and infrastructure that could give her a decisive advantage.

Slaby has a reputation for being able to bridge the cultural divide between politicos and techies. And sources say the Groundwork was created to minimize the technological gap that occurs between presidential campaign cycles while pushing forward the Big Data infrastructure that lies at the heart of modern presidential politics.

There is also another gap in play: The shrinking distance between Google and the Democratic Party. Former Google executive Stephanie Hannon is the Clinton campaign’s chief technology officer, and a host of ex-Googlers are currently employed as high-ranking technical staff at the Obama White House. Schmidt, for his part, is one of the most powerful donors in the Democratic Party—and his influence does not stem only from his wealth, estimated by Forbes at more than $10 billion.

At a time when private-sector money is flowing largely unchecked into US politics, Schmidt’s funding of the Groundwork suggests that 2016’s most valuable resource may not be donors capable of making eight-figure donations to Super PACs, but rather supporters who know how to convince talented engineers to forsake (at least for awhile) the riches of Silicon Valley for the rough-and-tumble pressure cooker of a presidential campaign.

The technology that helped re-elect Obama

Although Obama’s technology staff downplays credit for his election victories, there’s no doubt they played a crucial role. One former Obama staffer, Elan Kriegel, who now leads analytics for the Clinton campaign, suggested the technology accounted for perhaps two percentage points of the campaign’s four percent margin of victory in 2012.

The 2012 campaign’s analytics team constructed a complex model of the electorate to identify 15 million undecided voters that could be swayed to Obama’s side. They drew on databases which compiled a comprehensive record of voters’ interactions with the campaign—Facebook pages liked, volunteer contacts, events attended, money donated—and assigned them a score based on how strongly they supported Obama.

Those carefully constructed models and databases paid dividends for everything from advertising and campaign fundraising emails—which were rigorously A/B tested to determine the optimum wording and design (subject lines that said “Hey!” were found to be annoying but effective)—to voter polling and get-out-the-vote efforts on election day.

Perhaps the standout innovation from the Obama campaign was known as “Optimizer,” a tool that allowed the campaign to deploy carefully targeted television ads. Rather than rely on broad demographic data about programs and time slots, the Obama tech team accessed detailed information from TV set-top boxes to identify the most cost-efficient ways to reach hard-to-reach voters. The campaign’s top media consultant, Jim Margolis—now Clinton’s top media consultant—estimates Optimizer saved the campaign perhaps $40 million

Most of us in the community of awakened folk that began our search for the truth of why this world is so F***ed up did manage to find answers although we had to jump down many rabbit holes and still do this very day. We watched as the world became more sick and frightening and we watched as the actors that call themselves Presidents and Kings and CEO's continued to play us for whatever they could take by the lies and deceit and violence that is used against us to gain their power and wealth. We ran down the rabbit holes trying to find answers we still do in many ways. We all want to stop this wanting destruction of mankind, our lives our love, our enlightenment to move forward away from this 3 dimensional illusion of hate and death. Well in 2016 the world changed somewhat and a man stepped forward that gave everything to fight for America and even the world. That man was actually put into place by the people that were so devastated by the corrupt political and religious systems on this world to do what he actually said he would do and lo and behold he began to do just that.

The hate and vitriol that ensued against this man was and is like no one has ever seen to keep him from doing what he said he would do. This is the evil side of this battle against the good if one looks at it this way. The Trump haters and the doubters are mostly against the man simply because they are told to be that way. They have no real experience of who or why this man is the way he is. The MSM attacks daily, the Democrats or the other side of the political field spew their hatred daily and force their ignorant will on the people. This is America but it is this way all over the world today and when we all really look we can see the people standing up and fighting back now. Why you ask. Well this one man stepped forward and began to unite the people and then another factor came into play, This is called Q. Q began to stand with Trump, The idea of people standing and fighting against the evil the corruption that almost consumed us is Q.

I am not sure about all of this but it seems that since Trump and Q showed up on the scene the world and these forums have become more hatred deluded. Lost N Found, what you have written is VERY insightful. It is true that we have come down to the wire. And, you are correct, it isn't over yet. There are still hurdles to jump and criminal minds to quash, more digging and more EXPOSING. This thread has helped redpill so many people. Before they came here, they were jumping down rabbit holes that were seemingly endless. As they are finding out, rabbit holes lead to tunnels which eventually lead to one place.

Every single conspiracy 'theory' and/or conspiracy investigation will lead to that same place. That's the funny thing about rabbit holes. They are everywhere, and there are an infinite number or so it seems. However, we are coming closer to finding and demolishing the end of the rabbit void - - as we do this (as individuals and dare I say it, a collective) we unite our hearts and minds into the light. Dark to light, that is the goal. I believe we will accomplish this with or without censorship, meddling, doubting, and interference.

The depth of darkness at the end of all the rabbit holes is so twisted, vile, and filled with vermin that it will take enormous amounts of our strength to rid our fellow men, women, and children of the depths of despair that have taken over. I still feel hoax is the wrong term for the Q movement. There were definitely some hoaxers within the broader movement, designed to discredit it, but they were mostly ignored by the Anons who are still digging for answers and making connections that expose the nefarious players within the deep state (the kind of research everybody should be doing if we want to kick psychopaths out of power and usher in a wiser, more heart-centred world).

I’ve said from the beginning that the Q phenomenon is more psy-op than hoax. Even if it was a hoax, the Anons doing the research have adopted the cause as their own as a focal point to rally their resources behind. The Q movement also promotes doing ones own research and digging for answers for themselves, that’s not the hallmark of a cult. Although, there may be some within the broader movement who swallow up what Q posts as gospel and don’t bother to follow up with their own research (you get true believers in any movement, that latch onto a cause because it’s the trendy thing to do, without understanding any of the deeper issues that surround it).

Again, these people make up a portion of the followers, but they don’t describe the core Anons at the centre of the movement—who are digging and doing their best to expose the deeper corruption within the machinations of government.

Understanding the Q phenomenon requires what Joseph Farrel calls ‘multi-track thinking’, the ability to identify different tracks, nuances and elements within a field, and assess each element for its own merits. Trying to stereotype an entire phenomenon under one catch all term is bound to be divisive and create kick-back from people who don’t resonate with the stereotyped assessment. The same way ethnic minorities don’t like being discriminated against based on their skin colour or the LGBT crowd discriminated against for their sexual preference.

Everyone’s entitled to their own opinions about the Q phenomenon, but to tarnish everyone who disagrees with your worldview with the same brush isn’t very wise, and it isn’t the behaviour of an enlightened soul. Nuanced perspective, and understanding every facet and angle of an issue, is paramount to navigating any potentially divisive topic without creating the resultant fallout.

Observation of every angle is still an ongoing, dynamic and unfolding process within the Q community, and is primarily what this thread is for as well.

With that in mind... there’s a new speculation I’ve been entertaining recently. What if the Q psyop isn’t just run by elements within the NSA (my personal opinion of course) what if it’s a joint psyop, coordinated with elements of Russian intelligence to destroy the liberal-communist ideology that’s infested the minds of western leaders?

With that in mind... there’s a new speculation I’ve been entertaining recently. What if the Q psyop isn’t just run by elements within the NSA (my personal opinion of course) what if it’s a joint psyop, coordinated with elements of Russian intelligence to destroy the liberal-communist ideology that’s infested the minds of western leaders? Do a google search for Q-anon and fascism and see what comes up. That might make more sense. You're doing mental gymnastics here and arriving at all the wrong conclusions. But it IS some kind of brain exercise. I'll grant you that.

Given QAnon’s foray into fostering support for regime change abroad, the recognition of the phenomenon as a psyop that preys on the wishes and emotions that Trump as a candidate cultivated in his supporters seems inevitable, particularly as it has begun claiming that all concerns over a looming war should be ignored. Instead, Q urges followers to “trust the plan.”

Allowing long-standing neo-conservative policies and posturing for war to masquerade as an uprising against the “deep state” and “a draining of the swamp,” QAnon has turned reality on its head by manipulating a desire among many Americans for an end to Washington corruption. It is arguably a modern psyop like no other.

Allow me to repeat my point... everyone on the Q thread is anti-war, none of them support regime change in Iran, and we use the thread to shine a spot light on the many swamp critters that infest the deep state and the government. (How is that grounds for censorship?)

There seems to be a huge disconnect between what you’ve ‘imagined’ the Q thread is all about, and what actually happens over there. Your hysteria and cries for censorship are based on the flimsiest of pretexts and blowing things out of proportion.

You do realise that war with Iran isn’t going to happen, right? When polled only 26% of the American public thought it was a good idea. There’s no appetite for more war, which is why Trump has been avoiding any major conflicts since he took office. The majority of the Anons at the heart of the Q movement are extremely anti-war and are working tirelessly to ensure war doesn’t happen. If the Q phenomenon is a psyop to do what you say, it’s a really ****ty one because it’s failing miserably.

The benefits of the Q thread i.e. using it as a focal point to research and expose swamp critters. Outweighs the fact that a demented minority could misinterpret the Q phenomenon and use it for warmongering purposes.

If the Q thread gets moved out of sight, then there’s actually a greater likelihood war would happen, because the public wouldn’t be able to track the expose of deep state corruption. The Q followers ‘hope’ for a better world, isn’t anywhere as near damaging as the Q detractors obsession with tearing down other people’s hope.

I would like to add that the Q thread is redpilling many guests who come here just to visit, to get an idea of what is happening. Nearly ONE million visits to that thread. Many of those are from non-members who may consider becoming a member. The member numbers are dropping here, for a variety of reasons - - not just because they have been banned, retired, or placed on vacation.

Whether or not all members of this forum like the Q thread, it is a valuable tool.
