Observations of nearby galaxies by Edwin Hubble nearly a century ago have taught us that the universe is expanding, and that it must have been much hotter at early times. Observations at radio wavelengths have led to the detection of the cosmic microwave background, radiation left over from this early phase. Precise observations of this radiation have provided us with a snapshot of the universe around the time when the first atoms formed, only a few hundred thousand years after the Big Bang. Rather remarkably, the small fluctuations observed in the cosmic microwave background radiation teach us that their seeds were created when the universe was only fractions of a second old. Professor Flauger will review what we have learned about the early universe and what we may hope to learn in the coming years.

Raphael Flauger is a professor at the University of California, San Diego. He received his Ph.D from the University of Texas at Austin in 2009, and his research interests range from phenomenological questions in cosmology and particle physics to formal questions in quantum field theory and string theory. Currently, he is interested in extracting clues about fundamental physics from cosmological observations.

Naming The Universe - How Gods Beat Astronomers In The Solar System Name Game

t was the autumn of 1846, and John Herschel (1792-1871), the British astronomer and natural philosopher, was not sleeping well. He had just put his foot into the century’s most acrimonious astronomical dispute, and now he was being abused by those on both sides of the matter – his British colleagues on the one hand, and French astronomers and their European allies on the other. By the 1840s, Herschel, who was first knighted and later made a baronet by Queen Victoria, was one of the astronomical community’s leading lights. As the son of William Herschel (1738-1822) – the musician-turned-astronomer who had discovered the first planet in recorded history and neatly doubled the size of the solar system – John had inherited his father’s massive telescopes and method of sweeping the night sky for new objects beyond the solar system. He had also inherited and extended his father’s legacy to become the de facto spokesman of Victorian science. John Herschel’s treatise on the scientific life, A Preliminary Discourse on the Study of Natural Philosophy (1830), was a contemporary bestseller, and influenced a generation of thinkers who followed after him, from John Stuart Mill to Charles Darwin. Indeed, as the historian of science Walter F (later Susan Faye) Cannon quipped in 1961, being scientific in the Victorian era meant simply to ‘be as much like [John] Herschel as possible’.

But, for a few weeks in late 1846, even John Herschel didn’t want to be John Herschel. French astronomers had just announced another new planet beyond the one that Herschel Senior had discovered back in 1781. Whereas William Herschel’s planet (known today as Uranus) had been an accidental, serendipitous discovery, the location of this new one had been mathematically predicted by the French astronomer Urbain Le Verrier (1811-77). Shortly thereafter, this prediction was confirmed by observation at the Berlin Observatory on the evening of 23 September 1846. The new planet was the first celestial body detected by mathematical analysis, a stunning achievement for mathematical physics and for Isaac Newton’s gravitational synthesis.

Mount Shasta in California has become a nexus of conspiracy theories and unusual events. The latest viral sensation from the area has been a UFO-shaped object that appeared in the skies above the potentially active volcano peak of 14,179 feet on the morning of February 12th, 2020.

Upon closer look, this was not an alien spaceship but a beautiful lenticular cloud, the kind that is often shaped like lentils or UFOs, depending on your perspective. It was so convincing, however, that the U.S. Forest Service had to deny its extraterrestrial origins in a statement.

Exploring the Bizarre's (KCORradio.com) Tim Beckley and Tim Swartz welcomes cryptid ufologist RYAN FUSCO who almost scared the hell out of us with his stories of phantoms, monsters, and "space" invaders.

Fusco got his training wheels into the unknown at an early age thanks to a strange encounter that involved a UFO fly over and a deposit of a strange goo-like substance on top of the auto he was traveling in.

Ryan was born in Olean, New York. At the age of eight, his family moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he still lives today. Shortly after moving to Pittsburgh, Ryan, along with his father and brother, saw something in the sky they could not identify. It was a green light they got so close to their car it actually was dropping some material on it. Ryan said that "You could hear it hitting the roof of the car." Suddenly, the UFO shot up into the sky and disappeared...ever since then, he has had a fascination with the UFO topic. Ryan has been fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time for some pretty amazing UFO sightings which ultimately involved in the UFO field. In 2016 he finally started to investigate UFO sightings locally.

In recent months he has joined phantomsandmonsters.com to be the western Pennsylvania investigator for the blog. Since November he has done UFO updates every Thursday night on 9:20 Eastern Time. At night dreams talk radio (nightdreamstalkradio.com). He also just got done filming a documentary television show called "Red Earth Uncovered" that airs in Canada for their third season He has a high knowledge of UFO and abduction cases.

Fusco is writing a book on screen memories which will discuss how screen memories work and how many different types of them there are in the aftermath which usually follows when the screen memories are found out.

So many have mistakenly chosen to believe that the paradigm we have all known would somehow continue indefinitely into the future. Unfolding realities make clear how incorrect such a conclusion was and is. As of yesterday, the Costco in Redding, California, was completely out of toilet paper, paper towels, and bottled water was being rationed. How soon till the store shelves are completely cleaned out? Countless factors are converging to fuel a perfect storm of collapse, our former way of life is unraveling by the day. Can we still correct our course before impact?
We must never underestimate our personal power to affect the equation for the better. Each and every individual that our collective efforts helps to awaken matters more than we can fully comprehend. All are needed in the critical battle to wake populations to what is coming, we must make every day count. Share credible data from a credible source, make your voice heard.

The image of the "controlled burn" linked below was taken last night from my backyard on the east side of Lake Shasta, California. The fire spread quickly because there were many separate points of ignition, all of them started by a US Forest Service helicopter dropping fire starter bomblets. The extent of the fires is actually much larger than this image reveals. Question, does this ridge of blazing fires in the photo below look like a “controlled burn” to you? Is this how the US Forest Service claims to be protecting our remaining forests from wildfires? By burning the forests down ahead of time so that we no longer need to worry about forest fires? It is truly sickening to see so much habitat intentionally set ablaze under the facade of “managing forests”. I have personally managed (in the field) six large habitat restoration projects on the opposite side of Shasta Lake from the fire shown in the image below. Three of the projects I managed were carried out working with the State of California, three more of the projects I managed were with the US Department of Agriculture. I have personally carried out dozens of controlled burns on forest lands. Setting a forest understory on fire without weeks or months of preparation in the understory to be burned will kill many or most of the trees. Once the trunks are exposed to excessive heat, the trees will die, even if the crowns of the trees don’t burn.. Further, consider this so called “controlled burn” has been carried out after the driest and warmest February ever recorded in this region. No matter what excuse the US Forest Service provides for such destructive burns, this activity is not for the overall good of Earth's habitat that yet remains functional.
